It had taken Lior most of the day to travel from the Tulgey edge of Torquehelm to the Avington edge, right by the tip that would let him pass through the forest region straight south and end up back in the Court of Hearts by the end of the next day. There was a small inn near the edge of the two regions, Torquehelm and Avington, that was populated by both kinds of people. It was almost a relief to be around the green-hued people after spending a week depressed out of his mind because of the place and all its inhabitants. For all that he was normally quite depressed himself, it only made it worse being in a place like this. No wonder Peaches joined the Court instead. He sat at one of the inn's tables, lapping at his bowl of soup and getting a little sleepy. Tomorrow would be the walk through nice, forested paths through Avington until he reached the familiar sight of the palace walls. Though he wasn't sure whether or not it would be a relief to be home, he'd certainly be glad to get away from all of the misery surrounding this place. His head didn't need to be fueled by anything worse than it already was. It felt almost as if there was a cloud of gloom hanging over his head every second he spent in Torquehelm, even worse than the one that normally clouded his mind.

Home. It sucked. It sucked a lot. Peaches bit her lip when she saw the very familiar in on the horizon. It was a little different this time, she wasn't going to visit a grave, she was here to find someone. Peaches once again checked to see if Linda was all right on her shoulders. The feline opened the door with a cheery grin. "Hey~!" she said in a sing song voice as soon as she walked in. One of the servers blinked up at her before grinning. Oh yes, this was a place where people actually recognized the crazy cat girl for the crazy cat girl she was. The woman was still confused by the snake on her shoulders, but said nothing and was about to usher the pair to table. Peaches however, had already scanned the room. The white and gold stood out amongst all the black and green figures. That boy... she half wanted to kill him half wanted to hug him. Heaven forbid they had walked all this way and he was right in front of their faces. "Lior!" she called, not really caring about all the looks she got. Linda was probably embarrassed as hell, but there was no point in being modest in an inn. They'd never see half the people again anyway.

Lior's head snapped up from his soup bowl, looking around with wide yellow eyes that so resembled his papa's to find who had called his name. When he spied a familiar human form walking towards him, carrying an extremely familiar serpent on her shoulders, his expression perked up even while his mind cringed back a little bit. What were they doing here? Why would they come to Torquehelm? Was Peaches visiting home or something like that? But why bring Linda?
It honestly didn't occur to him that they had traveled out of the Court to find him and bring him home. He'd figured that he was giving everyone a reprieve from his presence by journeying to Torquehelm. It was only two regions away and he'd wanted to see it ever since the crazy cat had joined the Court.
...maybe he should have told someone he was going, though?
"Peaches... Linda... what are you doing here?" He stared at the pair of them blankly for a minute until he could figure out something else to say. That really was the foremost question on his mind.

Linda had sat somewhat sullenly on Peach's shoulder the whole way. She really was useless. Completely, and utterly, useless. What was the point of going to fetch someone when you didn't have limbs to move with, or help with. She constantly found she had nothing and do and was demoted to nothing more than a heat absorbing scarf. She couldn't even get the scarf part right. . . She sighed as they reached Torquehelm, though as her curiousity peaked so did her attitude. Soon she was wrapped up in looking around her, seeing all the interesting bindings. As well as some rather. . horrible ones. Poor souls that had to endure such things. But it was their life, and their culture. She was not one to judge. They moved into the Inn and she was glad. Perhaps with fresh heads and hearts tomorrow the search would be easier. And there, sitting in the Inn. . . was Lior. She blushed quickly as Peaches called out across the whole room. But she didn't care, because Lior was here. She had found Lior. ". . . YOU IDIOT I WAS WORRIED." And she flung herself from Peaches shoulders trying to hit Lior with a rather odd form of hug.

"You didn't bother to tell a soul where you were going Mister. Do you have any idea how everyone is worried about you? Bernard would have come here himself if he wasn't being dragged to meet the new Queen of Clubs," Peaches crossed her arms and gave him a stern look. Well, the best she could manage without smirking. She was generally bad at that sort of thing.
And that flying tackle was priceless.
She would have said more if one of the inn keepers hadn't come over to greet the three of them. She was a biped Torquehelm lynx, her bindings were a set of silver earrings with chains that connected to each of her fingers. Peaches always thought that she was very elegant.
"Peaches! I had no idea you would be around so early.... and with...?" She smiled at the snake and the feline with wings. Interestingly white guests in a sea of bright green and and black.
"People I'm responsible for, you know. We'd like a room for the night if you don't mind, same one I usually stay in, except I want an extra cot." She grinned as the woman nodded and happily made her way through the crowd. She turned back to Lior and Linda, "But seriously, Lior, never do something like that again. You have NO idea how much of a tizzy everyone was in."

Lior opened his mouth to say something else when he suddenly got a face full of snake and a yell and a hug. He made a muffled noise as his sister's weight knocked him over - she wasn't "heavy", per se, but she was still nearly an adult and smacked him in the face with her body.
He supposed he should have told her that he was going somewhere, at least, but then she would have wanted to come and he didn't want to make her feel obligated to go anywhere on his account, especially not somewhere that she would have no reason to want to visit like Avington and Torquehelm. He hadn't expected her to go out of her way to look for him, though. And Peaches... why would Peaches be with her? Because she knew Torquehelm? Yes, that would make sense.
But Uncle Bernard? That one made him give them both blank looks and wonder if they were just teasing him or something. Why on earth would their Uncle be interested in where he was, so long as he wasn't stuffing his face full of food or something like that? They were probably exaggerating...
Rather than say anything, he just ducked his head and nodded. "I'm sorry," he said quietly in apology. "I hadn't expected to upset anyone by going somewhere. I'll make any future travel plans known before I leave." I just thought you all wouldn't mind the vacation from me...

He hadn't expected to upset anyone by disappearing?
"You have amazing self confidence issues," Peaches said rather bluntly as she pulled up a seat to sit besides him. She called over one of the waitresses to order something. She was hungry and tired of rations. She needed real food. Something spicy and oh so ridiculously fatty it wasn't funny. But Lior had that thing about food. Oh damn, talk about being torn. She sighed and settled for something a little more responsible for an adult to have. She waited for Linda to order if there was anything she wanted, and Lior as well. She didn't speak again until the waitress was gone.
"I have to ask Lior, why on earth did you decide to come here of all places?" she asked as she propped her head on her sleeve covered hands. She hated her region. She couldn't understand why someone would travel here willingly besides an obligation.

Linda was just happy to see her brother, and for now, no explanations were necessary. She curled protectively around his shoulders, muscles bunching and relaxing in happiness. Her own version of a reptilian hug. She had found him, and he wasn't broken, no more than he always had been anyways. Linda closed her eyes for a minute, why couldn't he just get it, and stay home. . . And. . . and grow up?
She twisted up and playfully darted her tongue into his ear before settling again around him, burying her head into his scruff. So very much like their Papa. Had Papa even cared when Lior went missing? She hadn't had time to find out. . . her nose wrinkled for only a second, but against her brother's neck it would probably be unseeable. Food yes, that would shut up her thoughts, food sounded nice.
Linda lifted her head towards Peaches, a warning in her eyes. She didn't really want to hear the answer to the cat's question. She really, really didn't.

Lior was honestly glad to see his sister, even if he would never have wanted to drag her out here to what he considered the middle of nowhere just to come looking for him, which seemed to be exactly what he did. Oh, how lovely. Still, after being surrounded by somewhat helpful but ultimately hideously depressed people for going on a week solid, anyone who cared about him on any level, deserved or not, was appreciated beyond belief.
He jumped involuntarily when she stuck her tongue in his ear, half in teasing and half in reproach. He hadn't been expecting that at all, but he supposed he should have been. Without hands, she was as tactile as she could be with just her body and always had been.
The question made him bite his lip a little and stare down at the leafy concoction he'd gotten from the kitchen. The inn had limited supplies available to them, but they'd managed to whip up a halfway okay salad and he would eat it without too much trouble. He hated the taste of lettuce so much, but it was all for the greater good. He told himself that. The greater good of not becoming more of a fatty than he already was. He wasn't even going to comment on the self confidence comment. Why would he be confident in himself when there were so many things wrong with him?
"Oh, well... I've heard lots of stories about this place. Most of them are pretty awful, not in a horrifying way but in a miserable way. I... honestly, I just wanted to see how someone like you could come from a place with such a reputation." He looked embarrassed and stared down at his leafy pile. "You don't seem to fit any of the stereotypes associated with it, but you still have your bindings. I just didn't know how that was possible."

"Of course I don't fit any stereotypes, but this would have been easier to solve if you just asked me," Peaches said as she propped her chin on her sleeve covered hands. "I like my bindings, and ultimately I have a very personal reason for wearing my bindings for the sake of my almost forgotten brother."
And she would leave it at that. "Anyway, not everyone has to fit a stereotype to have their particular region. Not every Highlander has Highlander Pride for example. That's a really bad example, but none the less an example."
She watched as one of the waitresses came back with their orders. Peaches looked down at her soup with a pitiful expression. She just wanted fish or beef or something. The tiny little chunks of chicken didn't do it for her, but she couldn't exactly complain. "Thank you," she grinned up at the waitress.
