"I didn't want to bother you," Lior muttered quietly, feeling even more embarrassed. That plan certainly hadn't worked at all. Not only had he bothered her, but he had inconvenienced her so badly that she had to come all the way out here to bring his sorry butt home. Where he was already going. The futility of it all was almost painful.
Everything she said rang true with his ability, so that at least meant she believed her own words. That was something about her he had always appreciated - she spoke plainly and didn't mince words, twisting them into things they weren't. A lot of people did that. He was guilty of it himself sometimes, though he always hated himself afterwards because he abhorred lying.
What she said made sense, but he had still wanted to see the place himself. "I don't think I could have understood it as well without actually coming here," he told her, yellow eyes flashing up to meet hers briefly before going back to the food. He leaned down to nab a leaf and chewed slowly, ignoring the taste as best he could. "Actually, it was kind of nice to... be somewhere else. It was a nice change. Not that I don't love home, of course..." With all of its lying, all of its politics, everyone saying things they didn't mean and people things they weren't. He had seen many of them through the eyes of his ring. It terrified him beyond belief and made him come to an important realization.
No matter how many of them believed in themselves, what they were and what they said and what they stood for, in the end, every single one of them had a darkness that they could no longer hide from his horrified gaze. He was very swiftly losing faith in humanity altogether.

Linda slowly uncurled from around her brother's neck and moved her way back down to the table. Vegetables and such never really sat well for her so she strategically fished out the chunks of meat. Though she could only manage to grab the pieces that were on the surface. Soon she stopped fishing and instead sat quietly.
"I was so worried. . .Lior." She said simply, she really had been. So worried, to the point where she nearly cursed at Uncle Bernard when he told her. It hadn't been his fault. Lior didn't get the attention he needed and she knew that. But she TRIED, and others did too. Why didn't he get it? Why didn't he stay at the palace? Or tell someone? Her crest flicked up and down a bit as the inner battle waged in her head.
On one hand she was extremely happy she had found him, on the other, she shouldn't have had to.

Peaches finished her meal rather quickly. "It's all said and done. Everything should be forgiven and we'll get back as soon as possible. I'm sure everyone will be thrilled to see you when you get home." She said with a note of cheer.
She rose. "I think we should drop our stuff in a proper room don't you? I don't feel like sitting here all day so you two responsible young kids might be left alone for a small portion of time unless you protest." She tucked the chair in under the table before skipping motioning to the stairs. Peaches would probably get to carry Linda around her neck again.
The innkeeper tossed the keys to Peaches, and in the fashion true to Peaches she caught them with gloved hands. She checked the number attached to it with a grin. Oh how sweet, they gave her her normal room. "Did you bring a proper pack with you at least, Lior?"

Lior hunched his shoulders slightly as his ears tilted back, glancing over at his sister. "I'm so sorry for worrying you, Lin," he said in a very quiet voice, not knowing what else to say that might help. He could only make her worry, no matter what he did. Even when he buried things beneath the surface, she still knew and worried. It just made him feel more guilty and depressed around her sometimes. No matter what he did, he was a constant source of stress for his sister that she didn't need. This was just one more thing to add to the list. What a horrible brother he was.
"I look forward to getting home. I don't want Uncle Bernard to have to fret any longer than he has to," he agreed with a nod. "And yes, I brought a pack. It's sitting under my chair right now. Not much, but I didn't think I would need all that much stuff while walking."

Linda moved over to be picked up by Peaches, curling securely around her neck once again. It. . sucked being carried about like a child. But that was fine, she had dealt with it her whole life. Her thoughts always strayed to gaining a bipedal form, even at the most silly of times. She shook her head just a little, swaying her body with the movement.
"Well you brought a pack, that's good." She smiled warmly though a bit of something else tinged the look in her eyes. Linda was glad they'd found him and yet. . . maybe if they hadn't, he would have learned something more. Though perhaps he'd realize that people actually did care for him and that would be enough?
One could only hope, she assumed. She was quiet, too many strange thoughts running through her head. She had this strange growing feeling clutching in her chest lately. Why was she so upset at things? Why was she so upset at Lior? She wasn't sure, but. . perhaps she could talk to Peaches later? She really didn't know.
(boom? I think I've gotten the Linda muse smartened up, and we should be able to finish this in no time ^_^ sorry for the lag dears)

Peaches twirled the keys around her fingers as Linda got settled on her neck. Well, it was a bright side that he did bring a pack. She mentally shrugged. "Shall we head upstairs? I at least want to get you settled in your room before I go off to do some errands. I can trust you two alone right?"
They were almost adults. What, one year away or something like that? However Lior had managed to get himself in trouble anyway. Funny how that worked. "That generally means you can't run off and go somewhere besides the inn. I don't mean to play control freak, but I don't want to lose either of you. I imagine Bernard would have my head--well more than Bernard would have my head I imagine." She shifted uncomfortably. Thankfully Linda was distracted by something.
Without permission she picked up Lior's pack and set it half on the table. "Do you want to finish your meal while Linda and I go upstairs? I should have asked that first, goes to show how tired I actually am."

Lior watched his sister slither up to perch on Peaches with oddly-cocked ears. For all that his expression had returned to a vaguely guilty neutral, his ears betrayed his unease. There was 'something' in the way Linda said that, something that pinged his ability without actually being a falsehood. It was almost an insincerity, but it didn't really ping that either. How strange. She was so hard to read sometimes...
"We should be fine upstairs," he murmured in agreement, hopping off of his chair and looking up at her. "I won't leave the inn. I certainly don't want to cause you any more trouble than I already have." And if he ran off twice and they had to chase him again? Yes, he could see quite a few people wanting to have his head in frustration, the two women in front of him being foremost.
He looked back at his small meal and hesitated. "No, I'm not really all that hungry. I ate earlier. This just came as part of the inn's fee." And by 'earlier' he meant a small lunch of jerky, but that was immaterial. He would just go upstairs and sit with his sister and feel horribly inadequate. Wasn't that how it usually went? He refrained from sighing.
