"So long as I can play with my feet, I should be fine," Parzifal replied when the ferret went to open the door, but jerked back in surprise when something black and teal slammed into Mia and sent his juice flying into a wall. What...?
Ah. The shout of BROTHER was a hint. Examining the brightly-colored mustalid, certainly a different breed than the one he was clinging to, he noticed a few similarities. The patterning and spots were one, and the shared black was another, although the distribution of each was quite different. What a colorful family. He listened to them for a minute, half amused and half tempted to leave the loud scene, but really... he'd asked for entertainment and gotten it. "I'm Parzifal. Parzi," he introduced himself. "And I, ah. No, I don't mind. Your brother invited me in for cards."
He walked inside, half-pushed by the ferret, and looked around the room. Obviously one or both of their parents worked in the palace in a higher position to have such nice accommodations.

"If my sister can play with her webbed toes, then you'll be fine, I assure you," Dysthymia replied in a vague tone as he ushered them through the doorway.
"Cards? I LOVE cards!" Saethre exclaimed, and took off into the suite, no doubt to go find cards and a good place to play. Mia shot a disgusted look at her back, then turned back to Parzifal.
"Sorry about that, I should have warned you that my siblings have about the intelligence of a small gnat on drugs. I think Sae's the only one here right now though.." He dropped off, and shrugged. The ferret started into the hallway after his sister, obviously expecting the bird to follow him. The boy led him through a short hallway and into a small bedroom that was obviously occupied by boys, as it was a complete mess, thoguh thankfully lacking any serious odor. Mia dropped to the floor on a pile of what appeared to be blankets (though it was hard to tell, it just looked like a mess of cloth) and guestured for Parzi to have a seat. Saethre was already perched on a piece of low furniture (possibly a table) and was quickly shuffling the cards, oblivious to her supposed hindrance of webbed toes. After a minute she looked up and grinned at Parzi.
"Wanna play Dead Man's Catch or Strip Poker?"

Startled but amused by the sibling dynamics - intelligence of a small gnat on drugs? - Parzifal followed the ferret down the hallway and into a room that was nowhere near as cluttered or messy as his master's home and so he barely even noted the stuff strewn about the room. He found a small stood hidden under a pile of toys and nudged it over towards the other two, perching on top of it and watching the card-shuffling with interest.
"I don't know. I've never played with cards before." His master didn't own any and they'd been too young in Torquehelm to have any cards to play with at five years old. The shuffling seemed an awfully impressive motion, though, especially for someone without hands. He wasn't shy about learning new games. Maybe if they were entertaining enough, he could even get Vren to buy a set of cards for them to play with so he could teach Imre and Poe. "As long as you're willing to teach me, I'll play anything you'd like."

Saethre's grin only widened. She started to speak but was quickly cut off by her brother.
"Saethre, we're not playing strip poker. In case you haven't noticed, none of us are wearing anything to strip, dumbshit." The ferret rolled his eyes, and grabbed the cards out of her hands. "We'll play Dead Man's Catch."
The otter pouted a bit, but quickly cheered up and curled herself up more comfortably on the chair, her rear end draped over part of it. Dysthymia quickly dealt them each five cards, and literally dropped the rest of them onto the floor in the clearest spot in the room. "So here's how you play. Take your hand--that's those five I gave you--and don't show me or Sae them."
He picked up his own cards and demonstrated. Saethre had already grabbed them, examined them.. and shoved them underneath her chest. No one was seeing her cards!
"The object of the game is to get pairs of the same color and number. You can match a two of hearts and a two of hearts or a two of diamonds, but not a two of spades. At the end of the game whoever has the most, wins." He paused to breathe, and his sister abruptly took over the explaining.
"Each of us take a turn, and pick a card from the floor. If it matches one of yours, you take it and make a pair. But if it doesn't, you have to put it back. If you get a pair of jokers, though, you have to put all of your pairs back into the pile and start over with another hand. Also, if you get a pair of Queens you get to draw again. If you get a pair of Aces.. you lose the game automatically! But you can't discard anything from your hand, so you gotta just hope you don't pick two matching Aces." The otter grinned. "I'll go first!" She grabbed out and picked a card, and her grin only widened. "Threes!" She dug around under her chest and procured a card, then held them face-up to show Parzifal--a Three of Spades and a Three of Clubs. She set them down, and Dysthymia drew, but didn't come up with a match.
They both watched Parzifal, waiting for him to go.

Parzifal settled himself onto his rump on the stood, an uncomfortable position but better than some others, and carefully took the cards in his feet. He fumbled with them for just a minute - they were more slippery than he had expected - before they were settled and he could concentrate on what Mia and Saethre were saying.
He noted that each card seemed to have a suit, just like all of them, and was mildly amused to see that he had picked up a Three of Diamonds along with the rest of his hand. That was a perfect example of irony, he was sure. The rules were complicated, but he caught the major gist and watching the others take their turns helped a bit. He just had one question before taking his. "So what happens if two people have the matches to one another's cards? They just lose horribly? And we'll never have more cards than the ones in our hands, because we always have to throw them back in the pile or put them down in a pair?"
While waiting for their answer, he picked up a card from the pile, a Jack of Spades, and then threw it back because it matched none of his. Hopefully that had been the right move...

Mia shook his head. "In theory, you would still find a match with another suit, but if both are in someone else's hand, then yep, you're royally screwed." He grinned. "But who plays by the rules anyways? We can always play the fun version.. where if you want someone else's card, you have to trade a favor." He looked to Saethre, because Sae always explained this part better.
"A favor can be whatever whoever is holding the card wants. It can be a dare, it can be an item, it can be taking off clothing," She paused to give him a toothy grin, "Whatever they want. To answer your other question, yes, you should only have five cards, but that's playing by the normal rules."
Both the ferret and the otter stared at him with creepily identical looks--a trick they'd learned from Mommy Quinn--waiting for him to take his turn or ask more questions.

The siblings were indeed eerily similar in the way they watched him, but Parzifal had grown up in the Tulgey Wood - creepy was his bread and butter. He raised his eyebrows and drew another card, a Three of Hearts. Well, that was handy. "So this would be a pair?" he questioned, holding up the two playing cards with one of his feet so that they could be seen. The rest of his hand was held by his other foot, away from them. "What do I do with them now that I have them? Just put them to the side?"
Favors. That could be dangerous. Or remarkably fun. Or, quite possibly, both. He kept his expression mostly neutral, but the skin at the edge of his beak twitched up in the hint of a smile. If they were familiar with bird expressions, they'd be able to spot it. "Favors sound interesting. And we can play by whatever rules you'd like. So long as you tell me what they are, I'm fine." He hoped.

Once the two innately seemed to realise he wasn't affected by their stares, they simultaneously looked down at their hands.
It could be said that Harlequinn had taught them many things.
It was Dysthymia that looked up at his question. "Yep. Go ahead and start a stack of your pairs away from the big pile, just make sure they don't mix."
Neither Saethre or Dysthymia spent any large amount of time in the company of birds, so both missed it. Saethre wasn't even looking up, as she was staring avidly at the pile as if she expected a card to simply jump out at her, but after a minute she grabbed one and scowled when it didn't match any, and threw it back in disgust. At the mention of favors, however, she grinned up at Parzi again. "They are interesting! And don't worry, we always share the rules.." She dropped off, and coughed a bit, "Except for that one time we didn't tell Mo and he got pissy when he found out he had to prank Mama all by himself.. heheh.." The otter was amused, but purposefully didn't look up at her brother, who was glaring at her.
"Yeah, good going with that one, Sae. He didn't talk to me for a week after that." A bit peeved, Mia grabbed a card, and was somewhat appeased when it matched his five of hearts, so set it down next to him.

Parzifal nodded and set the pair down to the side, quietly glad that this meant he would have less of them to juggle. Four left... they were equal in that. It seemed a very random and chancy game, less about anything resembling skill than by random luck. He supposed that was what made it so entertaining.
The more amusing of the two was the sister, he had to admit, but she seemed about as unpredictable as the game. He wasn't at all used to being around someone like her and he wasn't sure if it unnerved him or entertained him more. Mia was certainly less of a nut, but also easier to relate to. The family resemblance was remarkably strong between the pair, and he knew they had at least one more sibling, the Tulgey mix that the boy had mentioned.
He drew his card and grimaced, throwing it back onto the pile. "Pranks... heh. I'm not looking to get in trouble and have either myself or my master thrown out of the palace because I value my health, but I suppose I don't mind humiliating myself for your amusement so long as it doesn't violate that rule." His expression shifted into a small smirk. "Though I admit, I'd probably rather watch you do the same."
((Sure thing, Shini, throw 'em in. XD I'd love for Parzi to get the full sibling experience.))
