"....you could say that," Zulimar muttered, not sarcastic in the slightest. Her father wasn't a person she liked to think about often, but her hatred of him was a persistant thought in her mind. When he rubbed at his eyes she tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. "How much sleep do you get, Heike?" The leveret inquired suspiciously. She had no qualms about running her body down, but that didn't mean she wanted to see Heike do it to his.
Zuli sighed at his words, tempted to rub at her own eyes out of frustration. She had no desire to see the Czar go after Nadja, or for Nadja to have to do more work to stay out of his way. After a moment she spoke quietly, her expression blank. "Let me know if he starts to bother her again, please. I can distract him away from her." Distracting the Czar was possibly the last thing on the planet she wanted to do, but if she was going to be bitter and fatalistic, she might as well put it to good use for someone else.

"Enough," he muttered as he glanced at the leveret in front of him. She had a terribly unusual mutation didn't she? He had never seen anyone with wings made of fur before. Then again he never saw that many Rabbits with wings. Cards were a different story. Those things were just weird period.
His perked at her comment. Was she really willing to do that? Wow, that was quite touching. "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind, but for now... for now she seems fine. He's too enamored with his current Does to do anything. Not like when that... Yarrow was around." The displeasure in his voice was evident and seemed to ooze into his tea. Heike bunched up his nose for a moment.
"We should probably start dinner. Do you have the plans I laid out for you?" He asked as he picked up his tea. He poured the rest of the contents of his cup in the sink, which wasn't much.

"Right.." Zulimar muttered in return, still suspicious but not going to push the subject, at least not now. The Czar wasn't likely to push any of them to complete exhaustion in the near future, so Heike would be fine running on low fuel, assuming he didn't start getting even more paranoid.
"It's fine," She replied, not about to make a big deal out of it. They'd see if she was even willing to go through with it if and when the time came. "The Yarrow?" Zulimar asked, confused. There were no Yarrows here, so whomever he was talking about must have left already. "You didn't care much for her, I take?" She said, amused.
When he mentioned dinner she scowled, and drained the last of her tea in one swallow. Foul, foul substance. She'd have to make a pot of coffee once Heike turned around.. "Yeah, around here somewhere. Maybe under the fruit basket.." The leveret mumbled to herself, and went to dig around the kitchen for it.

"Oh hell no, I didn't," Heike snorted as he took the opportunity to grab a pitcher from one of the shelves. He filled it with a bit of ice from the icebox across the room as Zuli looked for the plans he had laid out for her. Maybe she and Nadja could manage dinner by themselves?
Once he had turned the tea into iced tea he turned back to his fellow coworker. "You know, there are thumb tacks around for a reason. You can hang things on the shelves there and it's not a problem." He nodded towards a open box filled with various tacks. A stack of paper was besides it along with the one writing implement that Heike had nabbed from a card so long ago. If Master knew about it he couldn't imagine the punishment he would have gotten. Heh. It was a good thing the kitchens were below him.

"Any particular reason...?" Zulimar asked, curious despite not wanting to push him too far. Zuli still wasn't sure of where all his boundaries were, but she tended to push people's buttons without realising it, so generally it didn't matter.
After a few minutes the leveret found the plans--not under the fruit, but wedged between the sugar and salt jars--and spread them out on the counter and stared at them absently, not really reading anything before her. When Heike mentioned the thumb tacks she looked between them and the paper, then shrugged. "Sure, go ahead, do it the smart way," She said sarcastically. After a minute she looked at the tacks again, an eyebrow raised. How much blood would come out if she poked herself with one? Not bothering to see if Heike was watching her she grabbed one and idly began playing with it--running the edge over her fur a few different ways. She became fixtated on it, though wasn't doing anything with it besides playing with it.

"She would aggravate the master so much with her magic, and he would end up taking it out on me. Not to mention if she really felt like it she could knock me out cold with that power of hers." Heike snorted. He shifted around to get the pots and pans out of the cupboards. It wouldn't take him very long to get everything set up for the girls. He would not be able to cook tonight, his focus was shot.
What was with this girl and her snarky comments. Heike rolled his eyes and glanced over at her. Then... then his vision lingered on her playing with the tack. This was very serious business and she was fooling around with something that could easily hurt her. Nothing serious enough, but he had no doubt that she would complain about something like that.
"Knock that off and pay attention."

Zulimar wrinkled her nose at his description. Bit of a bitch, it sounded like. "Does. Useful for keeping the Jacks out of our hair.. but not much else most of the time," She said with a sigh. Her father had kept a few does that were almost sympathetic to her plight, but not enough to actually talk to her for more than like, three seconds. "At least she's gone now. How did she leave?" Zulimar asked. For some reason it amused her to hear of the comings and goings of Does.. it happened a lot more than the coming and going of Leverets.
She looked up sharply when he snapped at her, her brow furrowing a bit. Knock it off? What would he do if she actually stabbed herself, like she wanted to? Too bad she didn't have pockets.. she'd have to come back for one later. Zulimar dropped the tack onto the counter and turned to him, an eyebrow raised. "Yes? You have my attention."

Heike rolled his eyes at the Leveret. Holy Rabbits and Cards she was terribly annoying when she wanted to be. Even when she didn't want to be. All right, enough of that.
"If you don't mind you can fix dinner. Nadja should be finished with setting up the silverware and she'll come and help you. I'll be setting up the drinks for the Master, and then I'll bring the dinner cart in, got that?" Heike asked, his nose and ears twitching with impatience. What would happen if he just let Zuli deal with matters?
No, he couldn't trust her to be able to do so much when she was new. That's why he had so many checkups. However, he could trust her with dish washing so he would be able to sleep a bit longer that night. After her response he bobbed his head before slipping out of the kitchen.

"Sure," Zuli replied nonchalantly, despite wanting to ask what had crawled up his anus and died. Something that bit, because he was certainly snappish.
She immediately grabbed several pots and stuck them on the stove, along with a pan that she set aside. Tonight's meal was a glorious greenbean casserole complete with three sides, though of course she couldn't remember any of them.. hence why Heike wrote it down for her, probably. The leveret began cooking, but was shooting glances at Heike to see if he was actually going to leave her. She wanted to look at that tack again... hopefully this time she wouldn't accidentally leave water boiling on the stove like she did the one time she'd found a piece of glass. Technically she was supposed to put eggs in that one, but it was a good thing she hadn't.. since it overflowed two minutes later.
Concentration, Zulimar, concentration!
