When Xylia noticed the boy watching her more than the road she made extra sure to keep an eye on both Tavor and the road itself. No use tripping over each other...again. All his questions were quite surprising and she couldn't help but feel a little bad, but all in all she was enjoying the younger male's company. She had always loved being a mentor and helping people and now she got to do both at once!
"Some of them are! This one isn't too big, but that's what makes it perfect for swimming. Since the water isn't too deep well, kids can't really drown so long as someone's supervising."
Chatting happily, she lead Tavor down through the trees toward the edge of a shallow lake. Bounding forward lightly, she placed a delicate hoof in the sun-warmed water before glancing back and grinning widely at Tavor.
"Come on over, Tavor! Test the water!"
Cecilia trailed lazily in Xylia and Tavor's wake, watching them all the while. Was Tavor really that...dumb to the world? She arched a brow, a smug smile upon her muzzle as she drew in closer. That is, until they stopped at the lake. Slowly she drew back, leaning against a nearby tree so that she'd both be hidden from view and could keep a clear watch on the two new friends.

He let himself be totally at ease, he didn't have any real reason to be defensive, did he? He walked behind Xylia, his tail up and happily swaying from side to side with each step, not like a canines but merely moving with his steps, or, as vermin do, waddle.
He cocked his head, listening to her every word. His mind was a sponge and she was a well of knowledge and he intended to keep it all inside of his mind. And what was the best part? She didn't seem to mind that he was lacking in knowledge that he'd become sure was common and he just had the unfortunate lack of any real teachings. However, he could probably teach her more then a few things about the streets, street smarts was something he had in abundance.
However, he suddenly caught that feeling of being watched and paused briefly, looking back, but he saw nothing out of the ordinary, and he heard Xylia's delightful voice and scurried over to the edge of the water. When she asked him to test the water his eyes widened a bit and he looked at it, moving closer and hunkering down low to the ground.
At first his little nose twitched as he sniffed at it, his whiskers just gracing the water's surface, smelled like water. He then edged a little closer and stuck out one of his shirt limbs to stick a toe in, still not bad. He put both of his front paws in and went to make a move forward, however he hadn't a clue rocks were slippery when wet and lost his footing, finding himself falling face first into the shallows. He sat u and looked back at her and gave her a sheepish grin, his cheeks flushing red under his fur.

When Tavor looked back, Xylia did too... Only she kept looking once Tavor gave up and moved for the water.
She'd seen something, just a hint of movement, that reminded her of a certain someone's golden bindings. The little doe narrowed her eyes and nearly moved in that direction until a soft gasp and a startling splash spun her back toward Tavor.
Oh my! He'd fallen in!
Thoughtlessly the doe sprung toward the bank, attempting to rush to the rescue and only succeeding in slipping on the wet rocks and falling quite suddenly on her own rump directly beside Tavor. She blinked in surprise at finding herself so suddenly in the shallow water and directly beside Tavor as well and her cheeks flushed red beneath her own dark fur.
"Oh..." She giggled slightly, glancing to Tavor. "Are you alright, Tavor?" The doe giggled again, not at Tavor but at her own mishap and smiled brightly. "Those rocks were really quite slippery, I suppose I should have checked first!"
Cecilia was holding her breath, expecting to be caught at any moment, and was luckily saved by Tavor's graceless fall into the lake. Well, she thought to herself, that solved that for now. A smile quirked onto her muzzle and she leaned forward ever so slightly.
Perhaps she would be the lovely temptress which rescued Tavor from the lake.
The doe nearly giggled to herself. That would be quite fun.

As Xylia fell in not long before him he shut his eyes and got another splash, re-wetting his fur. However, he couldn't help but chuckle as Xylia met the same graceless, and wet fate as he did... it was terribly funny to witness, and then he laughed more imaging what he must've looked like.
A grin was planted firmly on his muzzle, his flat ended fangs showing as well as a few of his sharper ones, he hadn't had this much fun in awhile and they'd only just got here! At her question he nodded and flicked his wing out, sending some more water at her face with another laugh.
Mmhmm, now look, you're all wet!
He readjusted his wings, not used to them being wet... they kind of felt, weird. He peered back at his feathers and... sure enough... they looked weird to. He curled his tail up and stuck the end out of the water and tilted his head to one side staring at it.

Xylia paused for a moment, eying the soaked half-breed beside her before bursting into a sweet grin and laughing aloud. She leaned in, bumping playfully against the younger male before pulling up onto her hooves. On her slender and somewhat lanky limbs, Xylia was standing only about knee-deep in the warm water. Not too bad, they could at least play around, right?
"I would suppose we both are! What do you think? It's not too awkward on your wings isn't it? I wouldn't want that!"
As usual Xylia was worrying too much, fretting over her new friend. She didn't want him to get hurt under her watch!
Yet, trouble was approaching more swiftly than they could've thought.
Cecilia had risen from her post and was slowly edging closer, eager to make her entrance at last. She approached the pond, leaning gracefully down near the shore but kept a proper distance from the edge of the slippery shoreline. The lovely little doe wasn't about to Unlike the boy, Tavor was it?, and her half-sister, Cecilia kept at a perfect distance from the lake side to assure that there would be no accidental chance of falling in as well.
"Hi there!" The doe smile fetchingly and winked. "My half-sister isn't causing you too much trouble, is she?!"

They look really funny, what happened? Is it permanent?
He wrinkled up his nose, confusion written all over his face. The more she talked to him, the better she'd be able to gage just how long he'd been on his own. She'd also probably see him scrunch up his nose a lot, which was his sign of being confused. The ways of the world were a mystery to him and, while part of him felt bad for asking so many questions, Xylia seemed to know all about it.
He didn't have long to muse over the details of his sopping feathers before his thoughts were interrupted by another voice, another feminine voice. He instantly moved to hide behind his new found friend, but alas that wasn't going to happen. He moved behind her, yes, but he found no rocks or hard surface to find purchase upon. He slipped under, the water coming up over his head and he was entirely unsure of what to do, and his wet feathers only seemed to disable him further when it came to... drowning.

"No, it's not permanent. The water just makes 'em heavy, I think. When you--"
Xylia didn't get a chance to reply fully, not once Cecilia arrived. The doe was being a flirt but, unlike usual, the doe appeared to actually be attempting to scare poor Tavor away from her! She scrunched her nose up, in a similar manner to Tavor, but her look was more of frustration than actual confusion.
"Cecilia!"
Once again Xylia was cut off but this time it wasn't by Cecilia, oh no, this time it was by Tavor slipping once again. He had sidled out a bit deeper into the pond in order to get away from Cecilia's prying eyes and in doing so had slipped beneath the water. The Corvistownien glared at her half-sister for only a moment before spinning around and dipping down to help Tavor up above the water.
"A-Are you alright, Tavor?!"
Cecilia, on the other hand, was entirely silent throughout the situation. She had been the first to see Tavor slide under the water and not come up immediately and, from the conversation she'd heard earlier, she was more than a little bit frightened. Oh my, what if something happened to the boy!? Cecilia was spiteful, yes, but she liked to irk Xylia though, not strangers!

In his fright he'd inhaled when he went under, but Xylia was rather swift in her retrieval of his form and he was quite thankful for that. Once he was above water, and coughing out the fluid that had gone into his lungs, he clung to her. His form was shaking slightly, nothing like that had ever happened to him and it scared him.
His eyes were wide still, but eventually he'd be able to catch his breath and, once he was certain that he could feel the stability of the rocks beneath his hind limbs, he loosened his grip and slowly made his way to the shore, taking care to not slip again because he didn't want a repeat performance. He still trembled slightly, but once he was on solid, dry land he felt more secure and shook his coat out and moved away from Cecilia, he didn't know her yet and he wasn't to sure about her either. He plopped down and curled his tail around his form, catching his breath and watching the two.
What a day!

Once they were both on shore again, Xylia was tempted to flop down beside Tavor and give in to the short fright she'd received. That had been quite the scare, if not for him that an least for her. After all, had she not taken him to the lake in the first place he wouldn't have gone under like that! Well, he also wouldn't have gone under if Cecilia hadn't come over and startled him.
As comforting as that thought might've been, it was still quite honestly a misdirection of blame and Xylia would not allow herself to think in such a manner.
Shaking her coat and mane out heavily she then turned to Tavor with a concerned look in her eyes. "Are you alright? I'm sorry about that." She tossed her gaze over to Cecilia and then finally flopped down beside her friend. "That's my half-sister, Cecilia. Cecilia, this is my new friend: Tavor."
Cecilia pranced lightly over to the two children, looking quite the diva with every step, and stopped delicately before Tavor.
"O, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you like that." She leaned in close, batting her eyelashes. "Won't you forgive me?"
From the corner of her eye, she caught Xylia her eyes but Cecilia ignored it. Tavor would enjoy the attention, all men -and even most boys- loved a little diamond charm.
