He continued to absently stroke the rose, keeping tabs on them with his ears. He didn't need to explore, he knew everything here better then the back of his paw and could quite possibly navigate the area with his eyes closed. Beyond just being his secret spot, it was his safe haven as well. The world left him alone here, left him to his own devices like it had the roses. The roses themselves were useful as well, somewhere amoungst them he'd managed to reweave a clump of them into some sort of makeshift shelter despite all the cuts he'd received to his paws from doing so, but that was well hidden.
His ears twitched as Xylia spoke, bringing his gaze back to her, a sweet little smile remaining on his muzzle. He was glad they liked his spot and he was happy to share it with them, he could tell they were both gentle souls like he was... only different. Had he known any better, the whole place would be terribly full of poetic romanticism, but he wasn't and it was just pretty and safe. But she had asked him a question and he tilted his head to the side a bit inquisitively.
Yes, what is it?

Xylia moved closer to Tavor once he turned his attention to her, sitting down beside the younger boy. Everything in his posture and his personality seemed to speak of neglect. Could it be that he was all by himself out here? Xylia had thought about it briefly when they had first met, but hadn't given it any lasting thought. Now, however, the thoughts had returned in full force.
"Do you and your parents live around here?"
She cocked her head to the side, her green eyes shining with quiet curiousity. Maybe... Maybe if he didn't have anywhere to go, he would come home with her? It just didn't seem right to leave Tavor here without even trying to change his situation.
Cecilia, meanwhile, had wandered a little further into the garden of wild roses. It was all so beautiful and yet wild, and the lovely little doe was enjoying the sweet smell and the chance to explore.

His ears remained perked in interest as he awaited her question, but they dropped back almost against his skull when she'd uttered it. Oh gods she'd asked him that. He swallowed hard and his mind scrambled desperately find something to say that wouldn't make her feel sorry for him.... pity was so demeaning... However, he truly did not want to lie to her, the easier option, and thus averted his gaze fully onto the rose, noticing that he'd accidentaly torn one of it's delicate petals. His voice was soft, quiet and almost didn't even sound like his, he never had liked that question, or any question regarding them, it was also a point of shame and.... embarrassment as well it seemed as he turned a deep shade of red.
I do... but, I don't even know them.
He peered at her momentarily to see her reaction, hoping it wouldn't be one of the usual two he got.

Xylia nodded quietly. So she'd been right then? He didn't have parents. It made the doe want to snuggle him but she refrained and simply tilted her head a bit further to the side.
"Are you out here all alone then?"
Her tone didn't contain pity, per say, but concern if nothing else. It just didn't seem right that little Tavor would be all by himself. Even if he was surviving all right, he could use a proper 'family'. With people to teach him things and keep him company. Did he even have a proper roof over his head? Honestly, she doubted it.
She glanced around quietly, brows furrowing to a sudden realization. "Is this your home, Tavor?" As beautiful as it might have been it should have been his secret place and not his home.
Oblivious to everyone else, Cecilia had found a very pretty rose and was currently attempting to pluck a small red rose for herself...without catching herself on a thorn.
It wasn't working all too well.

Well, he wasn't entirely alone so to speak.. .he had a friend, a friend smaller then him, but that was about all. But it counted for something didn't it? He shook his head lightly, not quite wanting to look at Xylia.
No... I have a bander around here somewhere...
He began to twiddle his claws in the dirt nervously, oh wasn't this just the best way to chase away your friends or what? He was beginning to think it might not have been such a good idea to bring the two of them here, but the past was the past and he couldn't change anything, besides... the day had been truly fun up until now. At her next question, still unwilling to let himself lie, he nodded softly and peered up at her.
It's really not that...bad. Really.
Well, unless it rained or it was a particularly cold night, other then that it seemed like a perfectly decent place to live, so much better then some dark, dingy alleyway anyhow. But that didn't really matter to him at the present moment, he was really just concerned what she would think of him, silly as that was.

Xylia's expression was soft and thoughtful, probably more grown up than it should have been. Tavor was such a sweet boy, he honestly deserved better than this. She slipped closer to him, brows knitting slightly before she nuzzled him a bit. The last thing she wanted him to think was that she was upset with him or something, she just wanted to help.
"No, it's really not. It's very pretty here, but...but you ought to have a proper roof over your head." Xylia's expression knotted slightly, trying to figure out exactly how she wanted to proceeded. "I... I don't mean to be haughty or mean or anything, y'know... Some people like it 'n' stuff, living out in the wilds and all...but, it's nice to have somewhere to go too."
She wrinkled her nose, meeting his eyes with a smile. "So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, well: if you want somewhere to stay, you can come home with me."
Cecilia, finally giving up on her attempt at picking roses, finally meandered her way back to Tavor and Xylia and made an awkward little noise. Something important seemed to be happening, but all she'd heard was Xylia asking Tavor to come home with her.
"Is Tavor coming to dinner?"
Ah, what a way to ruin a moment.

Tavor, not generally the negative sort, had all different varieties of unpleasantries running through him mind. None of which would or could be uttered by him, he was fully expecting the doe to make some sort of.... unfriendly comment about his present status, they all did before anyhow, but such a thing never came. In fact, he got the exact opposite response from her and suddenly took on an appearance very close to that of a deer caught in the headlights. Well.... that was new and, well, shocking to the ratling.
It took him a moment to collect his thoughts once again, she'd asked him to come home with her.... He would simply love to but at the thought he simply felt like a pest or a burden, or rather that he'd simply become one in the end. He adjusted his wings nervously, twiddling his claws in the dirt as well, but by the time he'd collected himself enough to give a proper response Cecilia was there as well, asking if he was coming to dinner. He fanned out the feathers on the tip of his tail a bit and swallowed somewhat hard, speaking softly.
I don't wanna be a burden to anyone ...

Xylia thought on this for a moment. Tavor a burden? No, not at all. Maxwell loved kids and especially kids that didn't have anyone else to look out for them, this Xylia knew well. There was no doubt in her mind that Maxwell would take him in and that he would be anything but a burden.
"You won't be a burden, Tavor. I'm sure of it. Even Cecilia wants you to come to dinner." She smiled widely, aware that her sister was dumbly oblivious to the situation at hand. "If anything just come along long enough to ask Maxwell if you can, please? ...Or, well, that is if you want to."
She didn't want to push Tavor to do anything he didn't want to, but at the same time she really hoped he would want to come with her...
Meanwhile, Cecilia continued looked completely oblivious. Though she was slowly beginning to appear as if she was getting a hold of the fact that she had missed something. Something rather important. So she shut her mouth and let Xylia do the talking.

He shifted some more, becoming quite fidgety in his nervousness. He wasn't entirely sure what to do, and he still felt rather bad, but she seemed to genuinely want him to come with her. He truly hated awkward moments like this, but they were inevitable weren't they? His tail flopped to the ground and he held his wings tightly to him, speaking softly.
O-ok, I'll go if you.... if you think it would be a good idea.
Ugh, he hated that stutter-when-nervous reaction he had, he hated being so transparent when it came to emotions sometimes. But it was a part of who he was so he'd just have to get used to it, he'd been trying to but it still frustrated him to no end.
A part of him was excited and the other part just wanted to cry, it was terribly confusing and he wasn't sure why he felt like it. Oy, he certainly was the master at looking pathetic, wasn't he? Well, in hopes of looking a little less of the scared child he was, he offered them both a little smile.
