This child was born without a face. He has no mouth, nose, or visible eyes, though his highly developed sense of hearing and an ethereal sense of sight is bestowed upon him. He subsists on good feelings and sunlight. Not getting enough of either can cause him to droop and thin painfully, though too much will not affect him physically. When he speaks, he communicates telepathically, but in such a way that it tricks the receiver's mind into believing that he is speaking out loud as his voice has tonal quality. One cannot realize his voice is in their head unless they see he has no face, or he screams. His screaming causes others around him to feel intense physical pain for up to three seconds. His dual wings do not allow him flight and are purely ornamental, and his toes are splayed oddly far apart, making running slightly painful for him.
Growth Notes: Well...this poor man certainly has eyes now... just not in the right places...
The eyes on his pinions are capable of rolling straight over and seeing out of either side of the feathers. They are, in fact, eyes...were you to pull the feather out; a dangling optic nerve would follow. As a result, the pinion feathers are thicker and fleshier than normal and he has an extremely difficult and laborious time of flying. He would be extremely hard-pressed to fly for more than five minutes at a time, and carrying anyone is out of the question.
The eye in his tongue also has the capability of rolling over to either side, and the tongue itself is extremely dexterous, about four feet long, and fully retractable down his esophagus. The eye in his tongue is capable of seeing through walls as well for up to 50 feet around himself...it can also see in fuzzy, limited, black and white, through his own head when his mouth is closed.
Basic Magical Ability[/b]
He can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to ten minutes.
Moderate Magical Ability[/b]
When activated, he gains an immediate proficiency with any weapon that he picks up. This can be activated and deactivated at will.
Strong Magical Ability[/b]
When activated, he can inflict mental pain on another card of the Club suit, once per day. The degree of pain is akin to having the skin of your face slough off.
Powerful Magical Ability[/b]
When activated, he can control the mind of a lesser Heart for up to half an hour, once per month. The individual being controlled would know and the degree of control is almost perfect, with the exception of the fact that the victim’s eyes roll completely back in the head for the duration of the control.
Jack's Ability[/b]
He is immune to any and all poisons.
King's Ability[/b]
Once a month he is now able to cause those within 50 feet of him to feel anything and everything he does feel and has been feeling for the past few weeks. He can force this crash of emotion to focus on one point (be that sadness, loss, illness, exhaustion, extreme happiness, dull calm...) and then slam it into other's consciousnesses. This will cause the other person/people (he can affect up to eight at a time) to fall completely into that emotion, to the point where they may lose interest in whatever it was they were doing before.
This will affect Cards ranked A-J completely, Kings might be able to wonder at the feeling and may try to get back to what they were thinking and feeling before (with little success usually), Queens might be able to override the feeling enough to continue their previous engagement, but may be confused or a bit addled while doing it. This spell will last for up to 24 hours or as long as the caster's interest is held.
Felines
Felines are a common breed. They are found everywhere you look and their lifestyles make it easy for them to stretch themselves to the furthest reaches of the kingdoms. Not to be confused with the Court of Cats (who are the size of a house cat), the Felines of the realm are about the size of tigers and range from sleek Siamese to bulky alley cats in shape.
Canines
Canines are the most common breed type in the realm; they live everywhere and are exceedingly adaptable. They generally tend toward looking like wolves, domesticated dogs, and foxes.
Highlands
Residents are usually white with swirls of gold and red slash-like markings.
Many consider the Highlands to be the most beautiful lands in the world to date. Lush, rolling meadows, rich fields, thin stretches of forest, and quaint brooks make the Highlands one of the most respected and idolized realms in which to work and trade. The residents of the Highlands tend to hold themselves in equally high regard and they are often respected, no matter the rank, if that is where they hail from. It is rumored that those from the Highlands are destined for greatness, and they are often groomed from birth to think so. The Highlands actually border the Courts and even overlap a bit into the Court of Hearts.
