Silvanus noded as the Queen spoke, taking in everything he was saying. His life depended on it after all, it would be very bad for him not to listen at a time like this. Though now was buisness talk, so most everything the Queen said, weather he was Queen or not, was going to be of interest to Silvanus. He watched as the Queen fished out the envelope with ease, handing it to him, which he gentley took, and inspected the handwriting. The script certainly wasn't important, but it was so well done that Silvanus couldn't help but take a moment to look at it. His own script was good by most peasent standards, but nothing could compare to the handwriting of this individual.
Silvanus cursed at not bringing a bag with him, so instead he uncomfortibley held it in his hands. It felt awkward, as if the letter was secret, and had to be hidden right away, however, there was no place to put it so the secret wasn't consealed. He had to appreciate the fact that the Queen had really truely thought this all out before summoning himself for a meeting. An envelope filled with everything he needed! Maybe the royals weren't as lazy as some made them out to be.
Silvanus stood up and bowed his head deeply as the Queen dismissed him, turning to leave. There was no sence in sticking around, as the Queen had not summoned him for idol chitchat, and any questions he had he could ask Dymphna. Though more then likely he would have no questions. It was just a matter of finding the materials now, since the tools seemed to be given to him by the Queen.
As he exited, Dymphna was there standing at the doorway, waiting to escort him out just as the Queen had said. He bowed his head to her. "Well, that was a bit of a suprise, yes? I think it went well though." he said to her, though nervousness was obvious. It did go well, Dymphna would probably agree, however, you only had to screw up once...then you were dead. That was a little to much pressure for the poor free spirited Silvanus.

The pastel-sunset doe waited just outside of the meeting room, as she had been instructed, going over the rest of the day's chores in her mind. There was an event to arrange for three days hence, one that would take much planning and attention to detail, to ensure that His Majesty's guests got the exact degree of welcome he felt they deserved. She also had to deal with that troublesome kitchen girl, the duck, see if she couldn't find a replacement before the evening meal. No one could prepare desserts quite like her, but the rest of the staff were up in arms about her attitude and she couldn't have the whole kitchens rioting because of one unpleasant, talented person.
Her spine straightened as the door to the room opened and Silvanus stepped out. She smiled politely, privately relieved to see him emerge unharmed. Sometimes those who were new to the court didn't understand the proper respect due to the Queen, but he seemed to be a submissive, agreeable sort, and that would have worked well enough in his favor. Damaging that handsome pelt would have been a real shame.
"I didn't hear any shouts, so I can only assume that you handled yourself well," she agreed, privately amused by his nerves. Everyone felt nervous around the Beast, but seeing a newcomer emerge from their first meeting was always a bit of a show. She motioned with one pale hand for him to follow her once more, softening the impersonal gesture with a slight smile. She would see him to the entrance and bid him farewell, then get on with her day. Perhaps she would have the chance to see him again when he returned.
Serafino sat and sipped the last of his tea before drawing another item from his bag. A small, crumpled piece of parchment felt like butter in his hands, so smooth from being crushed in his fist and then opened once more that the writing had begun to blend. He stared at it once, brows drawing together, and then shoved it back where it belong. Out of his sight.
Damned rabbit...

A Few Weeks Later... Only a couple of weeks had passed, and yet so much had happened in such a short time. On a mission for a couple answers from the Queen's normal jeweller, he came upon a gathered crowd to find a number of orphans. He even took one home, answerless, and now with the huge problem of raising said child. Igal waited for him at home as he entered into the palace with a small jingling marroon velvet jewellery bag. The goodbye was not heartfelt, as Igal and him had always had a gap somehow in their relationship with one another, and because the young boy had faith that he would return home just fine. The thing was, that even Igal knew that if the Queen was displeased, this would be the last time they saw eachother. Silvanus' heart was pained. What if this really was the last time he was going to see anyone? He had been so confident only a couple weeks ago, but now...he had much to worry about if he left this world. Who would take care of Igal? Surely Ophelia would take in the boy...but what of. He stopped dead in his tracks, covering his face with a hand. What a fool he was. Ophelia and his little bathtime fun had landed her pregnant, and from the looks of it, she was very very pregnant. How could he do that to a friend? How could he go to the Queen...knowing what would happen if he was displeased, and leave his first bastard children with only their mother to care for them. He and Ophelia weren't together, and he doubted they ever would be, but he needed to be there for his children. As he entered the palace and waited for Dymphna, he hoped that all would go well.

Dymphna arrived in the palace's entryway not long after Silvanus's arrival, a passing servant informing her that he had only been waiting for a few minutes. She smiled as she approached the handsome buck, half out of a naturally ingrained politeness and half because...well, he was exceptionally attractive. Her appearance hadn't changed much in several weeks, her fur perhaps trimmed differently and her jewelry from a different set, pink topaz set in gold.
"Master Silvanus, it is good to see you again," she greeted him with an inclination of her head, willing to offer him the title in respect for his position more than anything else. Working directly for the Queen was no small honor. It multiplied the risks of any occupation.
He looked strained, almost frayed around the edges, but she put that down to his impending meeting. Presenting Serafino with any kind of commission was always a hit or miss, depending on his mood and the quality of the work. She supposed the goldsmith had every right to be stressed for such an occasion.
"His Majesty is in a meeting at the moment, but he should be through shortly and will be able to meet with you soon. If you would please follow me, I can show you to a sitting room until then, perhaps serve you a bit of tea and a meal if you haven't eaten." While the first half of her statement was very formulaic, the last bit would not have been offered to many people, only those she genuinely liked for whatever reason. Of course, she privately doubted if he would be able or willing to eat, looking as stressed as he did.

Silvanus lifted his head from the small marroon bag that lay in his hands to recieve Dymphna. As if in an instant his frayed edges seemed to magically disappear. It would not do him any good to show such stress to his superiors. Dymphna did not seem like the type to do this, but his mother had always warned him about showing weakness to superiors, for they ate it up like a delicious meal, preying upon it merciliously. Possibly in attempt to show their own power over others? Least this was his guess. Instead he stood tall, his tail erect and confident, and with such a smile as to make any female weak at their knees. A complete transformation it seemed.
It helped that Dymphna was so attractive, Silvanus had to admit that this brightened him slightly. Last they had met, he could not really spend much time looking at her, but now he took the time to drink her in. She was a very very lovely lady, if only she were lower in rank. As a 5 he had no chance with one of such high rank, but then again, Ophelia had taken enough interest in him...and she had been of high rank to. But Dymphna was different, she was in the courts, and he knew in his heart that to her, he was probably just a lowly commoner. He did appreciate her kindness however, and had a feeling that at heart she was a sweet person.
"Ah, Lady Dymphna! Thank you, I must admit it is nice to be in your presence once again as well. Are those new? They are eccellent pieces, they match you very well." he said commenting upon her jewellery that he had not noticed when last he met her. He knew it was rather bold of him to say anything, and borderline flirtatious, but he knew she would appreciate the compliment at any rate and he had the urge to do so.
It had given him momentary relief from the thoughts of the Queen, and what would happen if disapproval entered into his thoughts. But it could not be ignored forever, at one point he would have to face these problems, and whatever consequences came of it. "Tea might be very nice, thank you very much. However, I think I might refrain from partaking of any food at the moment. To be honest...I think I'm feeling a bit ill."...because of the Queen, he didn't continue. Though he had a feeling she would be able to pick up on that anyway. Tea certainly would be nice, it might calm the knots forming in his belly. He followed behind her gracefully as she showed him to the waiting room.

His compliments made Dymphna blush slightly, the rosy hue blending into her cheek-fur so as to make it almost indistinguishable. She was lucky in that respect. "Kind of you to say so, especially knowing as much as you do about the subject."
Jewelry was a weak spot of hers, even moreso than it was for His Majesty, and she enjoyed nothing so much as a stroll through the high-end stores that catered to the capital's wealthy patrons. Though she'd surreptitiously looked, she had seen neither hide nor hair of Silvanus in those places, and none of the owners had ever heard of him before.
And yet, Serafino had summoned him specifically to court and commissioned him, so his name had to be well-known somewhere. She hadn't dared to ask the busy monarch such an unnecessary question, especially not as busy as he was with the endless preparations for the season's grand event.
"I suppose we've all fealt that way around him at one point or another," she agreed diplomatically. However much the words sounded like a platitude, they were far truer than not. "The best thing to keep in mind is to relax, difficult though it may be, and present yourself as unassuming, though not too humble. He will decide whether or not your work merits the price, but you won't help your case any by lacking confidence in your abilities."
She continued with a few more small hints as they wound their way through the maze of corridors into a sitting room not far from the first Silvanus had seen. The decorations were much the same, though the flowers were now a rich, vivid gold to match the lateness of summer and the coming of autumn. She indicated that he should sit and rang for a servant, from whom she procured a small pot of fragrant tea and three porcelain cups with saucers. The first two she filled, one of which she took for herself and one of which placed in front of the stag, leaving the third untouched.

Silvanus had not noticed the blush, and he simply smiled a bit, "I suppose I know a thing or two..." he said in a humble manner. She had complimented him in return, and he had enjoyed it quite a bit, though he refrained from continueing any flirtatious behavior, at least for the moment. Now wasn't the time to be flirting with lovely ladies, and as noted before, she was far to high up on the totem pole to pay attention to him.
He gladly took the seat that she pointed out to him, and paid very close attention to her tips. He was glad for them, as while he knew some of them from his mother, there were others that he was not so completely familiar with, as the Queen was far different then his mother's usual customers in the palace. "I will be sure to keep that all in mind, and try not to think of the worst. Thank you Dymphna for your kindness." he said genuinely as she passed him a cup of tea. He drank from it deeply, and silently, as he was taught to do when he was little. Slirping was just, so impolite!
He stared slightly at the empty cup, knowing who it was for, and saw it lightly as a symbol of his empending meeting...and potentially...doom. Never had an empty cup been so frightening to him. He tried to breathe deep like Dymphna had told him to, and to remain calm, and he managed just barely. "This tea is extrodinary! I go out of my way to get fine tea, but I must say...this is truely delicious!" he said, complimenting the tea she had given him. Dymphna was probably used to the fine teas of the palace, but this being the first time he had partaken of them, Silvanus could not help but say something.

The most frightening of cups shared several similarly frightful traits with its companion dishes: it was delicate porcelain, pale white with golden roses etched in real gold, and had a pretty little scalloped edge from which to drink. Truly, it was a terrifying item.
"Everyone needs a few pointers now and then," the doe said with a small wave of her pink-furred hand, which she then used to lift her cup once again and take another sip. She enjoyed tea as much as the next courtier, whether out of habit, necessity, or honest enjoyment, but even she had to admit that His Majesty had good taste in blends when he wasn't drinking that nasty headache tea, made with white willow bark or somesuch natural ingredient. The few polite sips she'd been forced to take had left a bitter, astringent taste on her tongue for the rest of the day. She didn't know how he could drink it as often or as readily as he did.
She made a slight face at the memory, then realized her company might take that the wrong way and smiled apologetically. "Sorry, remembering something unpleasant..." He would have no way of knowing where her mind jumped and so his next comment made her laught slightly.
"Yes, this is one of the better flavors. I think it has a touch of white pear in it, but the cook who brews it won't tell me any more. Silly woman thinks I want her job or somesuch." She gave a snort at the very idea, the sound unusual coming from her. Normally she would curb noises like that, but really...as if she wanted the job of Royal Tea Brewer heaped onto the rest of her duties.
The door opened soon afterwards to admit the Queen, his expression bland and hard to read. His attendant took this as a good sign, since the monarch didn't usually bother schooling his emotions when something annoyed him unless it was part of a political game, and Silvanus was nowhere near important enough to merit such restraint. She stood and bowed. "Your Majesty, the goldsmith Silvanus."
Crimson eyes flicked to the doe, and then focused with uncanny intensity on the stag. "You have something to show me, then?"
Dymphna took the opportunity to pour a third cup of tea. The gentle splash of liquid against porcelain was truly evil in its innocuous nature.

He watched the doe's pleasent face contort, rather puzzled by the change in facial features. It looked as though she had a bad taste in her mouth. Had the tea not been as good as he thought? Maybe she was just...very picky with her tea? Or didn't enjoy this particular flavor? But Dymphna seemed to explain herself well enough, she must have just been remembering a bad taste. Silvanus stared thoughtfully at his own cup before taking another sip of the delicious tea. "Hmm...I think you are right. I'm not a tea flavor expert, but it does taste like a bit of pear is in there somewhere." he said casually. The rather unwomanly snort that erupted from Dymphna made Silvanus smile a bit, "I can't imagine being the Royal Teabrewer for the Queen. Maybe its because I'm not a teabrewer myself, but it seems like it would be a highly stressful job. Though...I suppose it would also have it's benifits." He was going to ask her how she had gotten her job here in the palace, when the door opened, and an expressionless Queen entered into the room. Silvanus immidiately put the tea down on the table, though being careful not to clack it, before addressing the Queen with a bow of his head. He nodded, feeling his nerves prickle against every part of him. "I do. Just as you asked in your letter Your Majesty. I would not have come back without them." And it was now or never. He revealed the velvet marroon bag, the contents chinking softly and beautifully, before he opened the bag and they fell into his hand, ring after ring, until 5 were revealed. He put down the velvet bag on the table and placed the rings upon it so that they could be viewed against the deep color of the bag. He then stepped back, and waited with bated breathe for what would happen next.
