So. After a long conversation between Kari and I, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to draw Xiven. Then she showed me a classical piece of art, the Grande Odalisque. It's a Turkish Prostitute, and though the pose she's in looks logical... It turns out it's very, very impossible. Heavily referenced. XD I had to make some changes, the anatomy in the original is just... too weird. Also I hate BGs. <<; Enjoy! |

I love the style of art that you have referenced.. so this is especially a treat to look at.
And yes, backgrounds -are- hard. =( The only way I have a chance at doing them is if I'm doing a direct reference off of something else and even then.. not so much.

EDIT: ...So I had a friend with me here when I looked at the picture and...well, the pose IS possible. ...Just exceptionally awkward and meant for very lanky people >_>

I'm really happy with how this, like, 40-minute doodle turned out. I might do more characters in this kind of style (ie, imitating the masters).
