Ira flicked his ears forward in curious amusement at Se's pronouncement, knowing it to be all bluster and nothing truly useful. Se was often full of shouts and uselessness. That was okay, though; Ira could handle those types of outbursts with ease.
He glanced at Iphis in amusement when the albino mentioned his desire to go out. At least, that's wot it sounded like. Ira, for his part, didn't really care where they went; he was just pleased to have gotten Se into the dress.
"I think we should go out," Ira announced happily. "We should all get some ice cream or something." Too bad they didn't have a flesh flavour; Ira would have liked that a great deal. "Then we can come back and put our dresses away."
He said it with a calm, authorative air as thought it obviously made perfect sense for them to go out and do this. "Let's go." He herded Se towards the door.

Se tried to resist being herded, his ears flattening against his head in absolute protest. "Leave off, Ira, I'm not going out like this," he answered with a small snarl. Ira, however, was a great deal better at herding than he was with ducking and he fund himself approaching the door closer and closer despite his best efforts. He snarled in anger, baring his teeth at his equine brother.
As usual, however, the threat did no good; Ira whirled with an almost feline grace and a hoof connected sharply with Se's chest. The canine hybrid gave a gasp for air, though the blow could not kill him. That response, however, did put him back into check. Ira could beat him to a bloody pulp or, worse, to unconsciousness. Se did not want anymore dreams; not for awhile. Actually, he didn't want them ever again, but he knew he could not avoid them in the dark of the night.
He shuffled out the door, but every line of his body shouted his displeasure as Ira hummed lightly behind him.

Iphis skipped merrily alongside his siblings as they made their way down the street. It felt good, just to be out with them and having fun, and looking so very pretty. And the prospect of ice cream was an enticing one. Raspberry truffle, because strawberry would make him unpleasantly dead. Ira, he saw, was having a good time, and he was sure that Se would get into the swing of things too.
The little ice cream parlor was whimsically decorated and featured a wide variety of clientele: parents with over-enthusiastic little kids who were shoving ice cream cones in each other's faces; shrieking young women who flailed about as though they had laced their milkshakes with a few shots of vodka; and mopey mean-looking teenage boys slurping disconsolately at their Death By Chocolate. Iphis was quite thrilled. He liked being surrouned by people.
"Raspberry truffle in a waffle cone, please," he told the counter girl.

Ira actually didn't overly care for ice cream; he preferred his food salted with the blood and tears of the many, many non-real people who existed in this world. Still, he tilted his head up at the list of flavours and had to ask, "Do you have any blood flavours?"
The stork behind the counter gave him a baffled and decidedly worriedly look before shaking her head and handing over a Raspberry Truffle to Iphis. "No, uhm, sorry. We. . . don't have anything like that."
Ira gave a sad sigh, turning his head to eye one of the nearby children speculatively. No, that would just cause a scene. He gave another sigh and stared up at the sign again. "I guess I'll just have to take a vanilla," he decided, though he was very disappointed in their selection. "With salt on top, please."
The girl sent him a half-way terrified look, then handed over the desired iced treat swiftly, salt and all. Ira sent her a reassuring smile and she flinched.

Se had sullenly walked with his brothers, his ears back with outraged and embarrassment at his predicament. Ira didn't even care anymore, but he was still being dragged along on this idiotic expedition! It was a waste of his time and a load of bull#*$&. He hrmphed angrily under his breath, ears getting flatter and flatter against his skull as they moved into a crowd of people to approach the ice cream wagon.
At his turn he growled out, "Mint cherry." The stork didn't seem very happy about serving him either, but she passed over the ice cream dutifully.
"Uhm. . . that'll be 5 silver," she told him. Se turned to give her a dark stare.
"Wot was that?"
She glanced at the crowd and seemed to gather courage from their proximity. "It'll be 5 silver for the three cones."
Se stared at her incredulously, amazed that she'd even have the audacity to ask.

Iphis was quite sure that the woman would hang herself before press his brother for the money if he was determined not to fork over the cash, but Iphis didn't want to eat anything he hadn't paid for. And he didn't want anyone getting dead. They were in an ice cream parlor. People just didn't die in ice cream parlors.
He dug into his little pink handbag and gave the woman the money. He smiled. "You'll have to forgive my brother; sometimes he gets a bit grumpy. He doesn't mean anything by it."
The woman accepted the silver, eyes fixed on Se. She probably thought he was going to start something. She watched them when she went back to the counter, too. Everyone, in fact, seemed to be...watching them.
Iphis wiggled his ice cream cone cheerily. "Cheers," he said, and began to eat.

Ira found the whole thing terribly amusing, which he proved by giving a low, almost inaudible laugh then turned to wink brightly at his winged brother. Sadly, Se still didn't look too pleased. Ira laughed again, louder this time then scanned the room for an empty table. Conveniently, there was one near the door. He headed for it happily, completely ignoring or utterly oblivious to the fact that the table was empty because of the nearest neighbours.
A pack of five, angry looking teenage boys lounged around the closest table. Of course, since Ira was also around an angry, mopey teenage boy as well, it didn't bother him in the least that now there were a whole slew more nearby.
He set to work on his ice cream with little dainty bites, trying to ensure that there was enough salt to last with each bite. He briefly considered asking the woman for some red food colouring, but the last time he'd done that, he'd been kicked out. Sadly, Ira continued to eat his salt-covered vanilla ice cream.

Se didn't even blink when Iphis pulled out his little pink purse to pay; it served the albino right for forcing them out into public like this. The canine hybrid briefly considered dropping his ice cream all over the dress but a glance at the chuckling Ira convinced him it would be unwise. Their freakin' eldest brother would just haul him all over town like that so he'd be even more embarrassed by wearing the idiotic thing. The only thing worse than wearing the dress would be wearing an ice-cream covered dress.
Se didn't even glance towards the other table as Ira sat them down near the door. He turned his attention to the sticky dessert instead and therefore missed the first rumblings of conversation from nearby.
"Aww, wot cute little girly girls," someone crooned. "All together eating their icey-wicey cream." This was met with snickers and elbows all around the table.

Iphis looked over, suprised that they were actually being addressed by the small pack of boys with their tweaked out hair and odd tattoos. He couldn't decide if the boy speaking was being genuine or sarcastic. He still wasn't very good on picking up on that sort of thing, which amused his mother tremendously but sometimes left him feeling a wee bit frustrated.
He savored a small glob of raspberry, licking delicately at it. He tried to be careful when eating chocolate ice cream; it took forever to clean out of white fur, and in the meantime the mess always stood out starkly, like some kind of blood splatter except brown and even stickier. Having extremely little pigmentation had its disadvantages; the sun-burning, for example, was complete and absolute murder. Though he blended in well with snow, which was nice when he was trying to hide from Helena in the winter.
"Yes," he said cheerfully. "And it's delicious."
