Rogers was manning the front desk and Kelasia was working in the back, as usual. She discovered that the man, an 8 of Theo and her suit, was, indeed, very driven and proft-oriented. He was nice to her, almost as nice as their boss, and really rather distracted when it came to the female. It was amusing, however, to watch those triangle ears perk up whenever Theo stepped into the office, especially since she had to fight to keep her ears from doing the same. She had yet to confide into the German Shepherd about the nature of her own heart, but she was perilously close to doing so. It was strange to have an everyday companion, even if he was a bit absent-minded about her. Whether or not Theo realized it, Rogers still had a crush, at least, on the bird, and so did she. The skunk gave a small sigh from her backroom cubby. The bird was accidentally going to leave a trail of broken hearts behind him and never even know it. She just hoped he never got married. The bell jingled happily from the front door and Kel could hear the slight upbeat to Rogers' speech; almost the hint of a whine of excitement and another small smile touched her lips. That sound only happened when special people entered the shop and she would bet that it was their boss who had just come in. She quickly gathered some papers that needed his signature, preparing to meet the pair by the counter out front.

Theofilus walked into the office nonchalantly. It had been a while since he had popped in. He hadn't remembered the joyful look Rogers always gave him, or the paperwork that Kelasia was always kind enough to bring him as soon as he walked it. It was nice to be in a place like this. Maybe he would tell them about his daring plan to try and get into the courts. How this plan struck him he wasn't sure, but he had decided that he was going to do it one way or the other. Rogers was very surprised to see him. He simply said, "Theofilus... you look good today.""Thank you," Theofilus said as he walked up to the counter. Business, that came first, then idle chatter. "Did the Mari account go through properly? Did we receive payment yet or do I actually have to make a visit there myself?" Sometimes nobles were troublesome. It drove him up the wall when they refused to pay them for nonsensical reasons. Even if Rogers was persuasive Theofilus was sometimes needed to loosen the wallets. He never really knew why. "Boss you really look amazing today," Rogers said with a certain whine in his voice. He continued as quickly as he could, "Yes, we managed to get payment out of them. We have a problem with the Sirius account though... Kelasia still can't seem to get the numbers right." "Need me to take a look at it, then?" he asked the air more than the canine. His train of thought was derailed as the skunk walked into the room with papers. "Kelasia! Is all going well?"

Kel's pale eyes slipped up from the papers to glance up at Theofilus and away, that one first glance she always allowed herself. The plan was to glance at him and then back to the papers, to discuss wot she'd found, or, in this case, hadn't found but should have. Then, through the course of the conversation, she would strategically let herself take several more covert looks to hold her over until the next time they met.
That was the plan; that's wot she allowed herself. But this time.... Oh... WOW. She stepped from the back room. Her eyes slipped up to Theofilus' face and found his chest. His... non-animal chest. Her breath caught in her throat and her head jerked upwards to meet his beautiful eyes. Her jaw dropped and so did the papers.
A dark flush spread across her features and she abruptly fled the room. She slammed her door shut and leaned against it, eyes wide with shock and amazement as she willed her heartbeat to slow before the muscle beat right out of her chest. He looked... he looked... Kelasia nearly groaned. She didn't have a word for just how... GREAT he looked. How wonderful. How... perfectly him. She wanted to go back out and stare, but.... there was no way she could face him. Not yet... not.... not now. She glanced down at her drab form. Oh, Light. He would never, ever, ever, ever, EVER want someone like her. She bit her lip as the first hint of a plan snuck into her brain. Light, he looked so good....

That was one of the strangest reaction he had ever been met with. Rogers simply remained silent as Theo looked from the door to him and back again several times. What had just happened?
He took a deep breathe and walked over to the door. He ignored the papers for the moment, they could wait this was obviously a crisis. He leaned against the door softly, trying not to scratch the door with his nails as he began to talk through it. "Kelasia," concern welling up in his voice, "Are you all right? Did I do something to upset you?"
The sparrow felt a sudden twinge of guilt. Good sky above, what had he done to upset her so much? "Is there any way at all that I can fix it?" he pleaded. Somehow the idea of seeing her upset broke his heart. She deserved so much better, even if she didn't think so.

Eeeeeeeee! She -couldn't- go back out there! And his voice sounded upset! She'd upset him! No, no, no, that's not wot she'd meant to do at all! "I'm fine." Her voice was a faint squeak and it'd be a miracle if he could even hear her through the door.
Light! Every time she closed her eyes, she could see him... Standing so tall and proud on his legs, the long feathers flexing from his hands. Her whole body went tight and tingly and she abruptly felt... frustrated. With herself, with this situation. She wanted to be worth Theofilus' time and attention. No, she'd have to better herself. Somehow.
She turned to the door with a determined air and a stiff tail. She carefully opened it just a crack so one pale eye and part of her nose was visible. She was going to be honest and forthright. She was going to tell Theofilus that he looked wonderful. Rogers could do it; so could she. "Did you want to talk about the Sirius account?" Oh, gads, that was so lame and so not wot she was going to say. She flushed again.

Theofilus blinked as the door opened a crack. He could see her eye peaking out, and hear her question as clear as day. But somehow that wasn't convincing.
"Yes, I do, but first I want you to tell me what's gotten you so--" And then it hit Theofilus like a ton of bricks. Midform. She had never seen him like this before, that was the problem. He blushed a deep shade of crimson.
"Guh, I'm so sorry Kelasia! I can change into my other form of you like! I forgot you haven't seen me like this, I'm so sorry." He felt down right awful for being oblivious to the whole fact that he was in the midform. It really had been a while since they had seen each other. "I'm so sorry," he said shaking his head.
Rogers remained in the background with his ears perked. He watched this drama unfold, apparently Kel was also interested in the sparrow. Oh, what a heart breaker he was, how oblivious. It made Rogers want to scream out the obvious, but he knew better than that. Theofilus would eventually catch on.

Change back?! That was the last thing she wanted him to do. And she was flushing -still-. "No, no, no!" she quickly said, opening the door a bit more, eyes wide. "It's not bad, it's.... it's..." she flushed and looked away again. "It's wonderful." Her voice was low as she stared at his feet. They were amazing in midform. All of him was amazing. "I was... just... a little surprised." A little? She'd reacted like a rhino with something unfamiliar.
"Please don't feel bad," her voice was low and throbbing. "It... it really suits you." She wanted the subject to change so at least the embarrassment would go away.
”Uhm, about the account. The numbers aren’t lining up correctly. I think they’re misrepresenting wot they say they’ve given us, because wot comes out is a lot more than wot is supposed to be in there.” She hesitated a long moment. ”I highlighted it in the paperwork.” Which was all over the floor because she had freaked out. She flushed again, ears flattening and tail drooping slightly.

"Uh..." so very awkward. So so very awkward. "Thank you," was all the sparrow could manage as he tried not to blanch.
Right, change of subject sounded like a very good idea. The paperwork! Oh, the paperwork was all over the floor wasn't it. Theofilus looked down at his feet to see that he was indeed stepping on the highlighted papers.
He cleared his throat, "Shall we clean this mess up, herm?" He bet over and began to pick up the papers, trying his best to sort out what was what. Perhaps if he pretended to be busy she wouldn't notice the blush that was still hinted on his face. "What on earth did they do?" Theofilus muttered with a frown as he found the highlighted page. The difference was greater than a hundred.
He looked to the skunk, slightly perplexed, "Are there any other accounts with drastic differences?" He still had that nagging feeling of guilt for being in his current form, but she said she was all right with it....
Meanwhile Rogers was enjoying his view. What a wonderful shot of his boss on the floor picking up that paper work. The German Shepard could easily understand while people were so distracted by the sparrow--especially when he bent over.

Kel wasn't lucky enough to get that view this time, though she was distracted watching his graceful movements. She missed his blush, staring at his strong, muscled back. She cleared her throat softly and uneasily as he came back up, averting her gaze yet again.
"I haven't found any others with quite that big of a difference," she admitted quietly, unable to meet his gaze though she wanted to eye his beautiful midform again. "So far there have only been small discrepancies, but I'm not done checking all of the accounts linked to this one." She still had about twenty others she wanted to check for sure; that would likely be at least another day or so of work.
Though…. Perhaps that wasn’t a bad thing. Theo might need to come back by a few times before she was done checking into the paperwork. She bit her lower lip gently with a thoughtful air, before sending another swift glance up and away. Light, he really did look good. She just couldn’t get over it.

"How long will it take then?" The sparrow asked. He caught a glance from Rogers who quickly looked away with a smirk on his face. That worried Theofilus, but not enough to cause an immediate panic.
Rogers grabbed some of the paperwork that had fallen near him hastily and slipped it on his desk. "Maybe we should go into the study to discuss things? Close the shop for lunch just so we can hammer out details?" he quickly threw into the conversation.
It was a very good idea. "All right then, Lunch in the study sounds like a plan who--"
The German Shepard was already out the door. Leaving the skunk as the sparrow alone with nothing put paperwork and thoughts that could only wander. There was such an uncomfortable silence it made the bird's skin crawl. "Yes, so, how long do you think it will take for you to double check all the accounts related to Sirius? Will I have to stay for an extended period of time?"
