She was amazed buy just how quickly the plant, which she easily identified as ivy, began to unfurl its leaves as well as visibly grow. “Wow Mom that is really cool.” She exclaimed leaning forward to get a better look at exactly what was happening.
She was just reaching out a claw to tap on the plant when the Bander decided to use the work table as a skidding ramp. “Monty!” She yelled seeing the event about to happen only a second before it happened.
Pushing away from the table the stool wobbled for a moment before dumping her weight on the floor in protest. The pot landed right besides her a moment later, the two jars joining it as well. Smashing the glass container, the liquid inside sprayed onto her right arm and tail.
“That horrible little creature,” She muttered under her breath as she slowly pulled herself into a sitting position. Nothing seemed to be injured, though she was definitely going to have a bruise on her right hip.

Minh watched with a detachment born of scientific curiosity as the two solutions hit the ground and mixed, creating a clear solution that crept out towards the broken shards of the ivy's pot. Nothing happened for a moment, and then the ivy twitched and twisted, seeking, searching. It latched onto her daughter where the solution had splashed, twining down under the fur. It was quick, and when the ivy had soaked up all the spilled solution is slowed, twitching one last time before it withered and died. All except what had attached itself to her daughter.
Minh exhaled slowly, and wondered briefly why her daughter hadn't noticed the extent of the havoc Monty had unwittingly caused just yet. She scratched at her ear, indecisive between the mother and the scientist warring inside of her.
"Uhm...Elyse, I don't know if you seem to have noticed, but, er... you're sorta...growing."

Something was making her arm and tail itch. Absentmindedly she scratched at it to get rid of the feeling. At her mother’s words though she looked down to pay closer attention to what was causing the feelings on her arm and tail.
It appeared that the plant, the Ivy, was starting to wrap itself around her arm, and with a quick glance backwards discovered that the same was happening to her tail.
Raising an eyebrow at the new discovery she asked in a distant voice. Um . . . Mom . . . what is happening?” Her were eyes wide in shock though she was not really about to become hysterical. She had always prided herself in her ability to stay calm and handle sudden situations without freaking out.
The plants that were not attached to her limbs seemed to have died, the ones attached nicely flourishing. She watched in amazement, brining her arm up for closer inspection, as it seemed that the Ivy was actually sinking into her flesh.

"Do I look like I know?" Minh's response was unnecessarily sharp, but she didn't feel particularly like taking it back, either. She really didn't know what was going on, and while she could postulate, there was no way to tell how exactly the two mixtures had responded to the chemical makeup of the ivy and with each other.
She grabbed a jar of sand and spread it over where the spill had been, unwilling to take any chances with any of the mess that was left over, and directed her daughter towards a stool.
"Okay, so. First things first," she parted her daughter's fur, and peered at where veins from the ivy penetrated her skin, "Discover the full scope of the mutation."
Was it superficial? Or something that went deeper than just skin deep? It was something they were going to have to find out the hard way.

She took no offense or real notice of her mother’s sharp tone when she replied to her question. It was not uncommon for her mother’s tone to become sharp when she was distracted from something important or one of her experimentations. Staring down at her arm she just seemed to blink at it. She was a little too confused about the whole situation to over react or even go into hysterics. There was Ivy now twined around her arm.
As her mother moved to pour sand over the spill she got to her feet moving out of the way. When she was directed towards a stool she gladly hopped upon it, offering her arm out for her mother’s study. It did not seem like something that was dangerous. Odd, yes, but there was not real pain behind it.
When the Ivy started to move inside of her arm she gave it a little shake, the feeling odd.

Minh poked, prodded, measured, and poked some more. And while her daughter seemed to be taking her accident amazingly well thus far, Minh still wasn't entirely sure how Elyse would take the results of the actual examination. Of course, the full extent of the mutation wouldn't be completely evident for at least another twenty-four hours, but it seemed readily apparent even at this early stage whatever was happening was permanent. And it was evolving.
"So--uh. We'll have to keep a close monitor on the, er, ivy, but it seems to have formed some sort of...symbiotic relationship with it's hos--you. The good news is it looks rather fetching...?"
Minh scratched at her ear in frustration. She'd really never been any good at the whole comforting-routine, and it was at times like these she really questioned the reasoning behind letting Aderlass knock her up. She liked kids, sure. But, really, they could be so much trouble sometimes.

She watched silently as her mother poked and prodded at her new addition. It did not hurt in any way but whenever it moved caused her to shiver a little. It was definitely something she was going to have to get used to.
At her mother's attempt at calming words she tilted her head to the side. "If you want you can run some experiments. After all it would seem that that would be the only real way to discover more about it. Of all the strangeness that goes on it does not seem that too many other people would have something like this happen to them."
Falling silent after her short speech she titled her head to the side, taking in the new mutation that was making it's home on her body. Oddly enough she would have to say that really was quite fetching.

Minh nodded absently, still discomforted by what had happened. It was one thing to run experiments on herself and unsuspecting individuals that Mnem and she dragged off the streets, but it seemed another matter entirely when the subject was her own daughter. It was even more bothersome that she seemed to be developing some scruples in her old age, though, and so she focused on that resentment and pushed sentiment aside. She had been presented with a singular opportunity, and it she would be damned if some small smidgen of scruples was going to keep her from making something out of this enitre mess.
“I think it would be best if we kept you under close observation the next few days, to track the progress of the mutation and make sure there aren’t any dire side-effects.” With the exception of what had already occurred, anyway. “Would you be a dear and go lie down? I imagine a nap might do you a world of good. I’ll wake you up when I get things more organized.”
Her mind skipped ahead, thinking of controls and the possibility of a light and dark test to see if the growth of the ivy would vary. They had quite a bit of work ahead of them.
((End?))
