If you don't make the rules you can't break the rules. It drove his father up the wall, but Zane did it anyway. He had once again wandered away from his father's protective gaze. He could have cared less. He wasn't a high enough rank to get away with things like his sister did on a regular basis, but he was good enough to get respect from his father. Then again, his father seemed to love unconditionally. At the moment Zane was on a mission, he was going to disrupt the quaint little town, by walking down the streets without a care in the world. He watched the prefect cookie cutter houses pass by with their neatly trimmed gardens. It was the picture of perfection. The inhabitants simply gave him confused walks as he strutted by. Apparently they hadn't seen any well built sparrows recently. This was boring. He was going insane. How could people do this every day of their lives? Maybe this was why his father was looking "up" into the world. He just wanted something to break the silence.

" What are you doing out here?" Somewhere from the trees that surrounded them, a voice rang down to the young male. It was a familiar voice, as always full condescendence. In fact, it might send chills down the young sparrow's spine. Then there was silence once more. Life continued in the same dull fasion as it always had in the Forest of Kahmden, and nothing seemed out of place from the brightly colored inhabitants. All around, the trees were still, and at first glance he might assume that the voice was a figment of his imagination, perhaps come to torment him in some way. Maybe his conscious telling him that what he was doing, wandering away from his father's protection, was wrong? Then, he might notice a single white-and-blue feather peaking out from between the leaves and boughs, which would bring a mostly-hidden white and blue form into sight. " Dad would kill you if he knew you were out here alone," remarked the voice, a hint of teasing more than a little evident in its tone. " In fact, I bet he's looking for you right now,"

( OOC: So many people... are in the room in the moment I can't focus. there's a play going on. ) Zane jumped from the sudden voice. He quickly recovered. It was his sister, his darling over protected, fluffy sister. He was sure that she actually had a good reason to be out here, since she lived here most of the time with their mother. "Why would he look for me? He was busy with work, and Ez is still with him... I think. He's a bit of a distraction." The young sparrow paused, "Why are you spying on me?"
He asked for someone to break the silence. Of course the fates had to make it his sister. That was probably why he had such a distaste for her. She was a saint and she could do nothing truly wrong. What a darling. He didn't have such a horrible distaste for her, just a small annoyed out look on how perfect she was. "Is there anything interesting to do here? I mean, why to live in such a boring place?" He was one to talk. The lakes were just as exciting--well at least he met strangers. "Any one else hanging around with you?" He meant his other sister as well, but why bother explaining anything?

The blue-and-white sparrow grinned widely as her brother jumped, a musical trill of a chuckle escaping her as she fluttered down to his side. She landed with a little bit of unsteadiness that was typical of one her age, one of the traits which overcame the irritating qualities of a child and made them appear cute to adults. As she steadied herself from her landing, she puffed out her chest feathers slightly, something she knew would deeply and profoundly irritate her brother. It was just a constant reminder of her rank, her natural superiority. She would rise quickly through the ranks - though not a mixed breed, her normal home had given her that drive to make her name known.
"Welllll... I would say that, judging by the fact that you're all the way out here..." her voice trailed off slowly, and she closed her blue-lidded eyes in a mockery of deep thought. "You've been gone for a while, I'd say. Even dad would notice that much time."
Of course, even her natural perfection was off-set by the massive condescendence that seemed to ooze from her every pore whenever their parents weren't around. The perfect mask that shone out every time they were around their child seemed to simply vanish, as if it had never existed.
'The most interesting thing to do here is to bother people. It's like they don't know what to do with themselves, especially if they're a lower rank than you. It doesn't matter that they're young, they won't hesitate to do what you ask of them." She glanced around, eyes seeming to scan the area for any sign of someone to bother, and her expression fell noticably when she saw no one.
"You mean.. Her?" The young sparrow laughed again, one eye cracked to stare disbelievingly at her brother. "She's full-blood, she wouldn't dare do something so.. so.. brave as to leave Mom's side! That's not the way it should be. Can't break the rules and all that." her voice fell into a mockery of the usual saying of Kahmden, and she rolled her eyes. "I'm surprised you even made it this far..."

Rank. She was one number higher than he was. It didn't make her that much powerful. He would beat her in this battle of rank one day, he would. He fought down the urge to pounce her in a fit of rage and listened to her speech.
Why did he use her rank to harass people? That was awful! He shifted his weight and ruffled his feathers. She made him so angry, all the time. She always teased him. Gah. He wouldn't let it get to him! He wouldn't! For once he would be good and not get into a fight with his sister the pompous puffin. "Ordering people around? Why would I do such an egotistical thing?" he rolled his eyes.
Of course his other sister wasn't the adventurous type. She was the fantastically boring type, like this lovely little village. A block of wood was more interesting than her. But that comment about him was quite out of line. "Rules must be made to be valid. Father never gave me rules to stay by his side all the time and he never will. If you know all the loop holds you can get through life. But you're not interested in loop holds miss high and mighty."

The little female watched her brother, more than just a hint of amusement shining on her impudent little face. She had a pretty good idea of the thoughts that must have been running through his mind at that point, and oh how they delighted her! She had more than a little bit of a cruel streak, and it amused her to see how frustrated she could make her brother. Finding his buttons and pushing the hell out of them was... Well, it was satisfying, in all the right little ways.
And oh! It seemed that her prodding had managed to strike right onto one of those buttons! As her sibling grew more and more flustered, the little sparrow grew more satisfied, feathers fluffing out in what could only be satisfaction. She was playing with him, he might realize after taking just one glance at Ceren's expression. She remained silent as he continued to speak, just watching him closely as his little tirade seemed to come to an end. A silence fell between them, seeming to fill in all the cracks and bring the two closer together, as others quickly hurried about their business, pretending the two little sparrows were not bickering right next to them.
"Zane, I need to know..." she looked at her brother, one eyebrow quirked as her musical voice shattered that thick silence between them. "If you could bypass the rules alltogether wihout loopholes, wouldn't you? Can you really begrudge me that?"

He hated it when she was right. She would rub it in his face no matter what. He wouldn't admit to her that he was wrong. "Why bypass rules that don't need to be bypassed? No, if I had your rank things would be different. I would still be a spade and I would still be mixed and mutated. I would still be looked down upon."
"Bother. You're my divine punishment aren't you sister?" He rolled his eyes. He would mouth off to his sister as long as possible. He didn't care about the adults that passed him by with shocked expressions and tried their hardest to ignore the two. He was waiting for someone to try and interrupt them, it would be a wonderful reprieve. He had never wanted his dad to come and save him more.
"I bet you've been bored in this place. I'm sure I'm a wonderful source of entertainment, but I'm sure we could find more if we worked together. Heaven forbid."
If you can't go against them, join them.

Her eyes wandered for the briefest of moments over her brother's strange wings, an eyebrow quirking ever so slightly. Complaining about his mutation... That was a new thing for her brother to be bothered by. In a way, she had always assumed that her sibling was untroubled by it, maybe even proud of the way it set him apart from herself and from Ez... She felt a momentary pang of guilt for her own flesh and blood, but easily pushed it out of her mind. "You could always go to Corvistowne," she offered to him, her usual smug expression creeping onto her face once more. "I'm sure they wouldn't be troubled by your mutation there. They'd probably take a liking to it."
That was, of course, the one thing she could never admit to: She herself thought that her brother's wings were endlessly cool, and occasionally wished that she had that section of his genetics. Not the others, of course, she reminded herself hastily.
"Couldn't deal with having your head get too big, now could we?" she sang joyously, grinning openly at Zane and jumping teasingly around him. He was beyond right with his statement: She had wanted nothing more than to be anywhere but here, with its cookie-cutter people and rules. Life had been so endlessly dull until Zane had arrived, and now.. she had something to do, if only for a little while. She did have to appreciate him for that, didn't she? <3
"Work together? Now.. that's an interesting thought." the little sparrow fell back, rocking on the knobs of her legs, little feet in the air. "What do you think we should do?" She was unable to keep the glimmer of curiosity out of her eyes, and she watched her brother closely.

Ahahaha. Corvistowne, what a novel idea. When he was older her could take a trip there just to see what the fuss was all about. He honestly had no problem with his wings, but he wanted to see others with unusual traits. The forest and the lakes were generally devoid of strong mutations. Sure people had extra tails or manes, but beyond that everyone was normal. He thought his wings were cool and all, he just knew it would set him apart for the rest of his life.
"My head could never be too big," he rolled his eyes.
On to the task at hand. His sister tormented the members of the Forest for fun eh? Why not take advantage of her rank for something? It was better than being her play thing. "So I'm guessing most of the residents are as interesting as washboards?" he titled his head in a bird like manner. "Why don't we spice things up a bit? I'm sure we can mange to give some life to this community!"
He watched someone scurry by, trying their hardest to fade into the background while the two bantered in the street. "At any rate I could be the decoy, grab someone's attention and you could easily find amusement in abusing your power even if harassment is less than desirable. That or we could become vandals." He chuckled at the very thought. "You live here, I'm sure you know more than me about the area. Where do the crowds gather? Is there anyone who is shunned? Any witches? Herm?"
He shrugged. It was all up to her and she knew it.

((sorry for taking so long to reply to this, I've been crazy-uninspired x.x))
Ceren let out an audible laugh at her brother's words, eyes positively gleaming with delight. "Oh, of course not! That's my job, right?"
She snorted softly. For someone who was as pig-headed as Zane, he really did catch on quickly. Washboard was an amusingly accurate name to call most of those who lived here, and the only way he could be more accurate would be if he were to call them old washboards. She had spent many long hours trying to find someone her own age to spend time with, and when that had failed she had turned to tormenting her sister. The scolding she got for that... It was no surprise that she could be found outside of her home so often.
"Crowds? Gather? You must be kidding me." Ceren rolled her eyes, shuffling her feet beneath her body. She knew all that happened in this place, and the honest reason for her latching onto her brother so quickly was that even tormenting the villagers was not as fun as it had once been. An idea sparked in her mind at that moment, and the grin that followed it would most likely be seen by Zane as a warning of sorts. His sister had a thought, and he would probably not be too fond of it. "We should leave this place and go somewhere interesting. Somewhere where things actually happen. Like... I don't know, anywhere but here!"
There was, in fact, a hint of desperation in her tone. She was hoping her brother would give her a break from this place.
