Despite his best efforts to listen completely, Seth could feel his mind drifting away, still fixated on two things: Sex, and that infernal kiss that had shaken up the whole day. He was still listening to her, but not to her words - he found that the sound of her voice provided an adequate backdrop to the sound of his thoughts.
In that moment, listening to a mixture of her voice and his own thoughts, he knew he was hooked. This trip, in all of its weirdness, would be his only real chance to change things between them, in whatever way. He just had to decide how they needed to change, and that was where things became difficult. She was working towards the courts, and that meant that she was a good client - did he want to ruin that chance by pursuing her romantically? If he did pursue what ended up as a sucessful relationship, it would only help him out...
For now, he decided, he would do what those from the Glacier were worst at: He would wait.
"It's a lot like Tulgey, isn't it?[/b]" he finally remarked, raising an eyebrow. With any luck, his internal turmoil would not present itself on the outside. Things were looking like they'd become more and more interesting... It would certainly test his skills, which were rusty. The months of being limited to the occasional barfight had really softened him up, so to speak.

Seth seemed a little distracted, but his question put that thought to ease.
"It is a lot like Tulgey... except maybe a little worse." She watched him eat the pomelo, eyes half-lidded, wondering wait it would be like if he squeezed the juices on her and licked them off with that tongue of his...
She mentally slapped herself for thinking it and moved on. I taste too terrible for him to do that. It'll have to wait until I achieve my human form... Mental slap again.
"If you have any questions, do not feel intimidated about asking them.
Oh, a few more things. Entering the Bog with me is purely voluntary. However, you will not be paid for the days I am in the Bog, should you opt not to follow me," Ah, incentive. She did not say that the reason it was voluntary was that she was perfectly safe in her home region, but if he could just stay with her longer... "And I will have to ask you to be extra alert around Corvistownians and me. Since I've left my home, I've escaped 2 kidnapping attempts, and I don't plan on dealing with any more." That last statement, though truthful, just seemed to fall out of her. She was desperately trying to distract herself from her thoughts. He was so far away, on the other side of the room... she longed to move next to him... but how could she do that without making it awkward? There will be plenty of time for that in the days to come... she thought, feeling a guilty pleasure she couldn't suppress.

A single ear twitched at that comment, and Seth looked up at her with a slightly quizzical expression. More dangerous than Tulgey? It honestly didn't even sound possible to him. He had considered going to the Wood on several occasions, but every time it came up he was convinced otherwise. This trip was going to be even more interesting than he had previously imagined, and far more dangerous - he would need to try, once again, to read that horrible book before they set off.
"No, no. I'll be going in with you.[/b]" his ears pressed themselves firmly backward, brow set. Kidnapping attempts? On his Heilyn? Ok, so calling her "his" would have to stop, but it would stop along with the kidnappings, as far as he was concerned. He was her guardian now. The fact that he'd only really get paid if he went... Well. That certainly helped. "I might as well take this body-guard business seriously, hmm?[/b]"
He might not be the most ethical man, but Seth did take his work seriously. Almost as seriously as he took his fruit, anyway. He took another large bite, watching her cautiously. "When do we leave?[/b]"

She mistook his concern for her over the mention of kidnapping attempts as concern of the dangers Region.
"Don't worry. So long as you're with me and listen to what I say, you should be relatively safe. Like in Tulgey. So long as you're with a native, you're relatively well off." She looked him over. That heavy, thick fur is going to be a problem, though... she thought, thinking of all the mud that was going to get stuck in it. Well, she'd just get the bath house workers to give him an extra thorough scrub. She got up from where she was sitting and threw her mask into her bag. Sitting in the bipedal form was quite awkward as compared to the animal form.
"We should be leaving as soon as I return back, again, from the court." Thank you, miscommunication. Heilyn hated making unnecessary trips. "So, about a week and a half. I'll be in the Capitol for the next couple days."
Hmmm, if I'm going to be spending so much time with him, I should probably look into some birth control... she shuddered at the thought of being pregnant, especially just before seeing her dad.

Seth swung his legs over the side of the bed, carefully considering her words. It did make sense. The whole thing seemed quite... strange to him, when he actually thought of it.
"Then I'll spend that time preparing,[/b]" he replied, tucking the remaining fruits into his bag and glancing around the room to make sure that he had all of his belongings. He was relatively sure that he had brought nothing more from his bag, but he just couldn't shake the feeling that he was leaving something extremely important behind.
He shrugged it off. If he couldn't remember what it was, it must not be that important.
"You know how to contact me.[/b]" he said as he turned to walk towards the door, glancing back at her and flicking an ear. "I've got a number of things I need to get together, but you and I will be in contact for the making of my mask, correct?[/b]" he needed a weapon of some kind, but in all honesty, going for as long as he had without a job meant that he wouldn't be able to afford anything nice. It would do for the time, but... As soon as he was home and paid, he would be splurging. That much was given.

"Of course we will. I wouldn't let you anywhere near that place without a mask," she walked back over to her back, stuck a hand in her bag and pulled out a bag of money. She then went over to him with a chuckle.
"Don't forget I offered to give you preparation money. Even if not for weapons, whatever you need to prepare, obtain, or repair for the trip. This money is not for food, drinks, whores, etc. Preparation only. Remember, I expect receipts and change when I return," she took a hand and rubbed him behind the ear, "Don't disappoint me," she winked, semi-teasing him. She saw him to the front door, her soon-to-be-former housemate giving a look of obvious surprise at Heilyn's lack of a mask. They got to the front door and she unlocked it and let him out. They said a curt goodbye, and she watching him leave. She sighed when he got out of sight. Gods, what was she getting herself into? When she walked back in, Miss Amy had a rather smug look on her face.
"What?" she snapped.
"One minute and five seconds," she responded rather smugly, pointing at the clock on the wall.
"What?" Heilyn asked again, only this time more sharply, not understanding what the parakeet was getting at.
"One minute and five seconds you stood at that door, watching him leave," she said, her chin perched on her interlocked fingers. The bird's smirk became a full blown grin when Heilyn stormed away without a comeback.

(time-skipping! ) Seth's bag was packed. He had looked over his belongings again and again, checking and double-checking each piece. His mask was wickedly uncomfortable, but if it allowed him to breathe then it was worth it. At the bottom of the bag sat a pair of punching-daggers, a misrable excuse for weapons that were covered in rust and grime, but were all that he could find. They would have to do, at least until his buget was larger. Heilyn would be paying him back, but... He doubted she could afford what it was he needed. He stood outside of the horrible doll's-house for a time, glancing down at the street before him before he summoned up the courage to enter. His ears flattened back as he did, and his nose wrinkled slightly at the combined scent of flowers and bog-mud. At least some things never changed. He made his was to the counter, leaning on it slightly and raising an eyebrow at the parakeet that sat there, clearing his throat awkwardly. " Heya, Miss... Amy,[/b]" he finally choked out, giving her what he hoped was a charming smile. " Is Heilyn around? We're supposed to be heading out today. I made sure I wasn't late.[/b]" his attitude was bizzare. This whole situation was bizzare. He just hoped he didn't slip up again.

[wewt!]
The parakeet smiled at the bat.
"She's here, she'll be up shortly. Would you like some tea in the meantime?" she waved her hand at the tea pot with freshly brewed tea sitting next her. "Mal, dear, can you go check up on Heilyn? It's not like her to be late." she spoke to Helyn's stand-in. A rather tall, slim, flamboyant human gentleman who was busy cleaning away. The mask nodded and he bounced away to the door leading down stairs. He flung it open and called down to her. There was an exchange of the Bog's language: a fairly guttural tongue that was heavy on the dark vowels and hissing and cutting consonants. But it was definitely Heilyn's voice coming up the stairs. She carried a single messenger bag, being very good at traveling light. She smiled at Seth when she came up.
"Shall we be off--KHEASS!" she snapped at Mal who was fussing with some fur on her head. He stopped, danced back to the spot her was cleaning and bid her farewell. She walked over to the parakeet and gave her a gentle punch on the shoulder, a greeting which the parakeet didn't enjoy, but took with a smile.
"Gonna miss me?"
"Not in a million years," she bird smiled, and stood up to hug Heilyn, "Be careful."
"Of course," she returned the bird's hug. They broke of and Heilyn walked around the counter to Seth, scratching the bat on the head. "Now, shall we be off?"

Seth nodded in reply to the woman, giving her a small (and almost strained) smile as he turned to the tea gratefully. He hated tea, but it gave him a chance to avoid any teasing or the scattered thoughts that were plowing at full speed through his brain. His ear twitched as he looked over the man that would be standing in for Heilyn during her absence, and his lip curled. The motion was barely perceptable.
She was so far above and beyond this man that it wasn't even funny.
Then Heilyn arrived, and that curled lip turned into his usual toothed grin. If he didn't grin like that, he wouldn't be able to pretend indifference towards her. Inside, his heart was busy pounding away at even the sight of her. It was alright to appreciate someone who was attractive, wasn't it? He did his best to push those thoughts aside as he took her side, giving the parakeet a parting grin.
"Yeah, we should.[/b]" he replied, moving ever-so-slightly into the scratch. Damn, that felt good. "Got a long way to go, huh?[/b]" he commented as they stepped outside, keeping his words as neutral as he could.
