Yeah, I'll bet it is she gave a laugh at his comment about the fruit. She knew the Solandrians imported very few things, fruit being among those considering how little they could grow in that region. On top of that, it was very difficult to transport it, so what wasn't rotted by the time it got there was probably all bruised up. Either way, she'd heard Theofilus mention something about it. Even with damaged goods, it was expensive. She gave a sly smirk as she saw him eying her apple.
"Oh?" her voice taking a teasing tone. She cut another piece, but did nothing with it, Leaving it there to taunt the bat. "And what exactly do you mean by that, love?" She dared him to say it out loud. Oh, how she would enjoy teasing and torturing him if he did. She looked down the road and could see the midway. Though she would've liked to have seen Seth fight after yesterday's events, testing his stamina, she was happy they were almost there. She was a bit concerned for his wings...
It was right then that the sun came out from behind a cloud. She let out a tiny yelp as she shut her eyes as quickly and tightly as she could. Her ears laid flat as they could against her head, she'd stopped walking, and had almost dropped her apple and knife. Damn the sun. She thought, growling, and putting on her mask to protect her eyes.

He watched her cut the apple, feeling himself start to salivate as soon as the scent of the crisp apple filled the air. She was teasing him, that much was more than obvious, and he wasn't sure if he liked it. He frowned, eyes narrowing as he looked from the sliced fruit to the coyote and back. He would avoid answering that question until she gave him the apple.
When the sun came out and Heilyn was forced to slip her mask back on, the bat could have cackled with glee. Taking the distraction for all it was worth, he lunged forward, tearing the apple out of her hand and leaving her with the knife and small slice as he cheerily devoured what was left of the fruit. Ahhh, perfect. He gave her a sly grin, deciding that now he was willing to answer her questions.
"I mean exactly what I said, love.[/b]" he said, all ego and self-assured smugness as he licked the last of the juice away from his lips. Victory was delicious, he decided. "Keep the fruit coming, and we'll be getting along well for a long, long time.[/b]"

YOU DICK! she almost barked at him, though amusement invaded her anger to a small extent. Behind the mask, she smirked. Oh, she could play, too.
She assumed the boy had never been whipped before. This would be incredibly amusing. She dangled her piece of apple over the dirt.
"We'll get along if I say we do," her voice tinged with a touched of ice, and a touch of amusement. She then flung the piece of apple behind them. It was up to him if he wanted it. She continued walking, hips swaying in taunting arrogance. She would keep him in check whether he liked it or not.
The Midway wasn't exactly midway between the Capitol and the courts. There were, in fact, several along the road. 'Midway' just sounded better than ' 3/10ths of the way' or whatever the distance was. They would reach it within the hour.

Seth grinned broadly at her, then flicked his ears backwards in irritation as she tossed the slice of apple. He watched it tumble to the ground with a small expression of remorse, but when he looked back at her he was shaking his head and shrugging. "Damn, that was cold.. After I saved that piece for you and everything...[/b]" his tone was serious, but he just couldn't control that ridiculous grin. "And I have no idea what that means, but I'm hopeful that it means something fun and exciting.[/b]" the bat laughed.
Seth stretched out slightly as they neared their destination, yawning broadly and looking up at the coyote. "Shall we break for lunch soon?[/b]" he asked, expression hopeful. He wanted to give his poor wings a break from the road, it was pretty tiring to walk for too long. His stomach was also whining pitifully, desperate for something else to eat. The apple had been delicious, but he was unable to eat the bread and cheese while they walked.

Oh, thats right. Seth hadn't eaten yet. What amazing things hands were. Heilyn pointed out a nice, open spot with a mossy rock to sit on and no places around it from people to be hiding.
"We'll take a break there." The reached the spot and Heilyn gave Seth the food. Since she'd already eaten, she'd shifted back to her animal form and began sunning herself. After the top was nice and toasty, she rolled onto her back to treat her stomach to the sun, tail wagging lazily. Ah, the sun. Such a rare commodity under the thick canopy that covered the Bog. As obnoxious as it was her her eyes, it was, truly, a wonderful thing. Speaking of the sun...
"So, what's it like in the Glacier? Is it really as bleak and stark as they say it is? The people included?" she asked, looking at Seth from her upside-down position.

That was just what the bat needed, and he happily jumped up onto a rock, putting his back up against it but being careful to make sure he stayed in the shade. He loved the warmth of the sun, that was true, but if he indulged in it for too long it would be easy for him to overheat. He set his bag beside him and rolled out the remaining apples, slicing one into quarters skillfully before ripping off a hunk of bread and taking a few pieces of the cheese. The combination of smells was wonderful, and he ate in silence up until the point when Heilyn began to speak to him.
He glanced up at the woman, grinning at her strange positioning. She was... completely adorable, he realized, and he indulged in that thought for long enough to reach out and scratch at her chest with one blue claw.
"Harsh is the best way I can think to describe it. The weather, the people, the alcohol...[/b]" he trailed off, taking another bite of bread and cheese. Maybe he was just hungry, but it tasted simply divine. "You live for yourself. If you put yourself out there for another person, then you die. It's simple, really. You can't go soft if you live there. It won't forgive you. The people are the same way. They won't forgive you either. If they see weakeness, they see something that needs changing. As far as they're concerned, you can only change that weakness in one way.[/b]"

Her tail began to wag a little more vigorously as Seth scratched her chest. Not feeling like getting up, she simply rolled over to be closer to him, allowing him to touch her belly. He was only the second person she ever let do that.
She looked up at him from under the expressionless mask as he spoke. Curious, as he was quite non-critical about her exposing her belly to him. If anything, the man's touch was a sign of endearment... and, perhaps, in a small way, dominance, as the canine had not corrected the hierarchy between them as he reached out to touch her. She would draw the line in a bit, but for the moment it just felt good...
"I see," she replied. Oh! The sun was being hidden again, yay! Her two front paws clawed gently at the mask until it slipped off. She shook her head, very happy to be free of the thing once again and thankful for the fortunate weather. Feeling playful, she rolled onto her side so she could nip him on the hip. "So what exactly is defined as weakness? It seems like every region their own definnnuuuhhhh~" Her rolling onto her side had change the position of his scratching to that exact spot on a canine's side between the rib cage and the back leg. The movement of her tail ceased only to be replaced by the involuntary pounding of the said leg. Her tongue stuck out just a little as her head flopped on the grass and eyes became half-lidded.
Talk about weakness.

Seth could guess at the expression that was under the mask by the way her tail was swaying, and he liked the mental image that he got. He continued scratching, increasing the pressure slightly and moving across her chest until he was starting to work on the offered stomach. She was an overgrown puppy, wasn't she?
Enjoying this moment greatly, Seth largely zoned out, ignoring what she was saying in favor of watching her movements instead. When her mask came off, Seth's face split into a wide grin, ears completely erect. Now that he didn't have to imagine her facial expressions, the entire action seemed so much more satisfying. She was clearly enjoying this, and though a small part of him wanted a fraction of that attention, the rest of him was simply happy to be causing her some kind of pleasure.
Then her leg started, and Seth had to literally bite his tongue to keep quiet. He wanted more than anything to laugh, but he had a fairly good idea that that might interrupt the moment and piss her off. So he did the next best thing, indulging in his good mood and leaning in to give her silly-looking mouth a soft kiss.
"That's a weakness,[/b]" he said, drawing back slightly, smile lopsided.

She cursed herself for being born a canine. She barely noticed the kiss, and when she did, all she could do was lick his funny little nose while he was backing away. Even then, he didn't back away that much -- he was practically hovering over her, the bastard -- and she licked the air in front of him until she made contact with his face, neck, and ears in an action almost as involuntary as the leg movement. She cursed Her Coyote mother and Wolf father, and the four generations back on each side of the family being Canines.
She was completely powerless under the touch. The only moment of self-control she managed was biting his ear and giving a tug downward and a high-pitched whine. Not even she was sure if she was begging him to stop or keep going. Gods, she hated that feeling of helplessness, but under the right hands, it was bliss...
