Igni was bored, and lonely. Not a good combination, but one that was far too familiar to the young Doe. She had been out in the fields for the day. She was getting just to the edge of her week and was getting antsy. Ever since that first night, it was odd how she needed the Czar so badly. She couldn't imagine being with a horrible Jack and having that need course through your body. It must be just awful. During the day her lop ears had taken a bit of a beating with trudging through the fields. She sighed and sat down beside a very small bucket of water and slowly preened at their ends. Trying to clean away the dirt without need for an entire bath. She sighed and scrubbed every once and a while taking a warm ear into her mouth to chew at a particularly stubborn bit of dirt.

It was a lovely day outside. Then again, almost every day was impeccable in the Highlands. Because of this, she'd spent a good amount of time in the clover fields just outside of the warren, basking in the sun and eating the clover blossoms at her leisure. She'd even napped a bit in the shade of a beautiful willow tree, all the while contemplating the matters of the household. There had been more additions to their Warren, and she'd even seen one of the little Does out in the fields from afar. Quite the odd one.. a Doe with fire atop her head. How did the Czar work around that? Was that why he'd been only spending the night with the Doe once a week? Just because it's the heat of the moment doesn't necessarily mean he'd want to be singed, she didn't think. She giggled at that, but it was soon forgotten as she drifted off to sleep... She awoke maybe an hour later, giving a mighty stretch and siting up on her haunches. Her belly was weighing her down as of late, and she was heavily gravid already for not even being near her time. For that reason, she was quite sure she'd be having more than just one child. Her mother had usually only had one at a time, and she'd never.. expanded like this. Groaning, she brought herself to her feet and retired into the warren. She was surprised then, to see the Doe that had been outside earlier that day.. stooped over in the common room with a wash basin below her. Her.. hair crackled all about her head in a halo, obviously hot. Was that why she so rarely saw the creature take a bath? Curious, she hopped over, leaning around the Doe so that she could see. "I say... what are you doing?"

Igni kept washing and chewing and licking, trying to get all of the dirt off of her ear. It was rather annoying. They were so warm that dirt and muck tended to bake right on to them. She sighed scrubbing a little more until she heard the voice behind her. Her head snapped around and she instantly fell into her self-effacing mode.
She was. .pretty. And she was the Czar's favourite wasn't she?
"I uh. . cleaning the ends of my ears actually."
She blushed a little, sometimes lop ears were difficult. Sometimes they were more difficult than they should be anyways. She sighed down at them scrubbing just a little more. She couldn't go walking around the Warren dirty. She avoided baths enough as it was, what with her fiery mane. It wouldn't do at all for her ears to be dirty as well.
She stopped though, to talk to the other Doe.

Oh yes, lop ears. The Czar seemed to have an affinity for them, and that in itself made her uncomfortable. Frowning, she sat on her haunches beside the Doe, looking at her ears with intense contemplation. "Well yes, I can see how those floppity things can get in the way.. dragging in the dirt and all." She remarked quite blithely, bringing her own paw up to stroke her tattered, torn ear.
Then, Ashta actually had the audacity to reach out and -touch- the other Doe's ears. Strangely enough, she did so with the utmost care, stroking them gently before dipping the dirty tips into the water. Ashta was an odd one, but she certainly wasn't necessarily malicious without cause. Her brows raised only slightly at how warm they were, but she said nothing; after all, it only made sense that they'd be warm, what with living fire constantly burning atop her head.
"Oh, but they aren't all that bad... quite darling, actually. I can see why my Czar approves of you." She didn't necessarily emphasize the 'my' in her comment, but it was obvious that the Doe knew her place as favorite, and intended to keep her throne as the Queen Bee, so to speak, but her tone.. no, her -tone- held only gentle compliment. The rest was just a fact.

Igni felt a small twang of guilt. Had she been wrong to complain about her own ears around a Doe that was. . missing one. Either she was very much loved in the past, or very much hated. Either way, the ear was the mark of something sensitive.
As the other Doe moved forwards Igni blinked a little, assuming she was going to be hit because of her comment. She froze, awaiting the blow before a soft paw touched her ear gently. . And then began to help her clean them. She noticed the small raise of Ashta's brow and her feelings sunk a bit. She hated being a freak.
The truth of the Doe's statement struck Igni and she said nothing, knowing it as the truth. She glanced over at the extended abdomen of the other female and smiled a bit.
"Con. . congratulations by the way. I'm sure the Czar is pleased?" She smiled gently, honestly happy at the thought of little ones about the Warren.

"Oh yes. Ecstatic, really." Ashta tooth-purred in satisfaction. The Czar was never a man to.. show much of his deeper emotions to his Does, but it was obvious that the Jack could have nearly burst with pride.
Noticing the Doe flinch, Ashta frowned with something akin to confusion on her face. Why did she have to be so flighty? Was the Czar hitting her? She could hardly think of a think that such a meek Doe could do in order to invoke their Jack's wrath. Or rather.. was she being Neglected? Frowning, she ran one of her paws over Igni's coat to check for health.
"The Czar is treating you well, I hope?" The sudden intense concern on her features were... odd.. so contrasting to the nearly oblivious one she usually carried. Now though, that concern was coming up from a more mentally sound part of her, though in fact one that hurt with a deep wound from her past. Perhaps that's why she let the Hisstor crazy rule her as it did?

Igni smiled and nodded. Of course the Czar would be excited, it only made sense. It seemed so rare for Does to be with child that any litter was a wonderful thing. Besides, little babies running around everywhere would bring life to the Warren. Everyone was happier with children around, at least as far as she had noticed.
Slowly she became more comfortable with the petting and grooming and all tension ran out of her. It was. . nice to be taken care of. Just like when she spent so much time with Heike.
"Oh yes! He's. . he's very nice." She said, not wanting to imply anything at all. It wouldn't do. He was nicer to her than she'd ever been treated really. Another small smile formed on her face. "And. . you?"
She asked quietly. Conversations were nice, but she always afraid that she'd ask the wrong questions.

"Oh! Oh yes. I'm the favorite, after all." Oh, how she loved being the queen bee! Her expression of bliss quickly wiped into that of a more serious one though, finding this topic to be quite important. But because of my status, it is very much my obligation to make sure that all of the Czar's other Does are doing well. It's important for a Jack not to neglect his Does, you see... Some.. Well... some Jacks do." And for that moment.. her eyes dulled a little bit, as if remembering some whisp of a memory she usually kept at bay.
It didn't last long though, for it was replaced with a smile so bright and odd that it could only be a bit of the Hisstor crazy rearing it's ugly, crazy head. "But no worries about that! I'm just making sure all of the Czar's dearest does are in good shape! I'll not have anyone suffering from neglect, you see."

Igni moved slowly, not wanting to burn Igni as she nodded. She had expected to be hated at the Warren, especially by the Jack. So not being number one wasn't. . so bad. She smiled again, but it still hurt. At least, at least she was cared for now. It also seemed as if Ashta actually genuinely cared about the other Does, which was nice. Perhaps she could actually be a real friend.
Igni paused as she noticed that look of haunting memories flit past and wanted to reach out to the other Doe. However, the sudden grin upon Ashta's face stopped her cold. Blinking she tried to ignore the scariness and smiled back uncertainly. "I'm not neglected. Thanks for asking." She said, and meant it.
Oddly, Igni found herself thankful that her father had traded her away. She was growing rather fond of this Warren and the rabbits within it.

Genuinely oblivious to the smaller nuances of the fellow Doe's emotions, Ashta continued to churr to herself quietly, finally finishing cleaning the rest of the mud from the loppy appendages. With all the care she had showed when she had first begun the cleaning, she smoothed Igni's ears back into their place, making every hair was in proper order before setting back on her haunches. "You just stick around me, dear girl. I'll make sure you are never want for anything." Though the two Does barely had a year between them in age, she spoke as if she were some wisened rabbit who had seen things beyond her short years. Of course, that might very well be from the fact that she was an expectant mother. Those who were soon to bear children tended to find.. a more mature part of themselves in preperation for motherhood.
"It's Igni, yes? A play on words, I'd suppose. She giggled a bit at that, but not maliciously so. "I've been giving much thought about names, lately." With a smile much more tender and genuine than her previous one she stroked her heavily gravid stomach.
