Tea Time Misshaps (Finished)

"Oh, I like all kinds.. anything flowery and sweet." Ashta remarked with her typical pleasantry, catching the corners of the tablecloth that were tossed her way with her paws awkwardly and pulling them straight with a few gentle tugs. It really took no time to put it up, and very little energy but the Doe suddenly seemed a bit winded.

"Oh dear me.. I don't know what has been wrong with me these past few days.." the Doe said with a wistful sigh. Absently, she put a paw to her belly, which seemed a touch swollen. She figured it was from the sudden weight gain from her renewed interest in food, for her emaciated body had been returning to a slightly healthier, lithe look. This.. paunch though.. it was terrible looking, and a bit too obvious on her lithe Hisstor frame. "My stomach feels so terribly unsettled... Could you perhaps brew me a nice herbal ea to soothe it, Nadja?"

Nadja smiled at the Doe once the cloth was laid and was about to hop down to tend to the wet cloths when Ashta's sudden weakness caught her off guard.

It was just a cloth, not heavy or anything... Why was she looking so unwell? Oh dear. Gracefully she hopped down off the table, drawing a bit closer to the doe as she spoke. Her stomach was unsettled? Absently her gaze fell to the doe's stomach, noting the hint of weight gain. It couldn't be? ...Could it?

She mentally shook off the thought and then nodded promptly, smiling once again and concealing any hint of worry she might have held. "Of course, Miss Ashta. I'll be right back with the tea, why don't you sit and make yourself comfortable while you wait, hm?"

The leveret was quick to hurry out of the room, slipping into the rather busy kitchen and attending quickly to some tea. It was a bit more work trying to make tea around a bunch of busy leverets, but Nadja had been doing this all her life and was accustomed to the work.

Not one to argue at that point and time, Ashta sat herself down into the chair she had been sitting in only a while ago before she had made such a mess, smoothing the fur below her exposed rips absently; the constant rubbing of the bones sometimes mussed her pelt up in that area. Of course, that only brought her attention back to the bulge in her belly, and she stroked it absently. The Doe had never been prone to overeating, but it seemed that those extra crumpets during teatime were certainly taking their toll. This.. worried her. Some Does might look all well and good with a little meat on their bones, but by Hisstor standards, having extra meat defeated the point of their lithe beauty. The last thing she needed was to become unnattractive to her Jack... Especially with two other Does to contend with.

Still quite begrudged by that notion, Ashta seemed worried when Nadja reappeared. "I believe I should cut down on how much I've been eating.. I believe it's affecting my figure terribly." Oh yes, it was quite vain.. but the Doe seemed so.. distraught. Then again, any Doe understood the importance of appearance. "I fear terribly that the Czar will tire of me if I do not appeal to him..."

[Vyn]

Nadja returned in short order, pushing the tea tray along with little hops. She quickly hurried the tray to the Doe's side and carefully determined herself to pour the Hisstor her tea.

Only once everything was set properly did Nadja finally settle onto her haunches and focus on replying to the Doe's conversation. She was worried about her figure? That was...honestly a little odd. There was nothing wrong with Ashta's figure, not that Nadja could see.

Sure she was putting on a little weight, but not by much. At least, not by much that Nadja could see. How strange. "Your figure doesn't seem too different from when we first met, Miss Ashta. Nothing truly notable to the eye." As the Leveret spoke, she found her mind wandering.

What was it Ashta had mentioned earlier? Fatigue? Fatigue and weight gain... Perhaps that should be looked into? The Rabbit shifted her weight a little, quietly making a note to speak with Heike about this later. He had enough medical knowledge that she assumed he'd know what to do about this.

[Nako]

"It truly isn't noticeable? Oh please don't think me too vain of my lithe frame.. but it is not befitting of a Hisstor to have excess weight. Not the right frame for it." Carefully, Ashta picked up the tea cup (both hands this time) and sipped carefully of the hot liquid, pausing to blow upon the surface once she deemed it a bit too warm. No complaint fell from her lips though, but only a sigh and a smile. She had neglected to put any sort of sweetener in the liquid, but she preferred her herbal tea quite astringent. After all, she was drinking it for its properties, not to enjoy it.

"Oh thank you, Nadja. I'm feeling better already just being under your care." She gave another sip, leaning back in the chair with a wistful expression on her face. "You are indeed good at what you do.. the tea is of perfect flavor.. and not burnt at all." She extended the compliment with a cheerful smile before she set the tea back down.

Nadja smiled as she watched the Doe sip her tea. She was a sweet creature, truly. Nadja was happy to share this Warren with her, especially when compared to some of the other Does she encountered. Not nearly as fussy and friendly too.

It made her a little sad that Heike so desperately wanted to escape... Well, the Czar really gave them very little choice.

"None to vain, at all, Miss Ashta. Understandable concerns in even my circumstance, and were I a Hisstor then I imagine I'd understand even better." She bobbed her head and smiled cheerfully. "You're welcome, Miss Ashta. I'm so glad to have helped, I won't be letting you fall ill under my watch."

The compliment brought a brief flush to the Avington's cheeks and she dipped her head again, this time keeping her gaze downward until she managed to stop blushing. Ashta really was too kind.

It secretly pleased Ashta to have moved the leveret to be emotional, and her lips curled behind her cup as she sipped all but the last little puddle at the bottom. The bitter remnants that would stay in even the best cup of tea formed an interesting pattern... one that she even fancied looked a bit like a rabbit if those funny blobs counted for ears.

"I suppose some time in the sun will soothe me as well. Thank you so much for the tea, and for the help." Her gaze flicked to where the disaster once had been; the only evidence now being the tea tray holding the soiled tablecloth. "But yes, I do believe I shall bask in the sun a while." Giving a light yawn, she slid down off the chair, placing the cup back on the tea tray."I will... talk to you later, yes?"

Nadja kept an eye on the Doe as she sipped her tea, musing on this and that which needed to be attended to before the day's end. When Ashta announced her decision to go sit in the sun, Nadja nodded cordially.

"You're very welcome, Miss Ashta, and I must agree: fresh air and sunshine can rarely do you wrong." The Leveret briefly followed Ashta's gaze to the tea-soiled table cloth and then returned her attention onto Ashta once more and gave a second nod. "Later sounds wonderful, Miss. Feel free to call on me whenever you need me."

She gave a little bow and then waved cheerfully to Ashta. Once the Doe was gone, she turned her full attention back onto the chores at hand. The table cloth would need to be properly washed and then hung up to dry. Oi... She had so been enjoying her break.
