Shashi was an Esterberry through and through. He believed that he had the smarts, and the sense to make a very good servant at the very least. Organizing was his specialty. Sure he had to run away from his last two Warrens but that really wasn't his fault, now was it? He honestly couldn't help the fact that he was sexy beyond thought and reason... and male. The Leveret had heard about this warren from someone he worked with. He had heard bad things, but there was no Jack that was perfect. If they were... well they didn't exist. Nothing was perfect. However that was a mental rant for later. He knew how this story was going to end, it always ended with him running away. However, he really needed a job right now. Shashi was willing to run the risk of getting caught. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer it. He really hoped this was the right place. He didn't want to look like an idiot or anything. Being stupid was just a horrible waste of space.

Somhan usually spent most of his time in the kitchen, where his talents were best utilized, but really he did whatever Remmington or the Does told him to, whenever they told him to do it. And right now he was answering the door, and bringing in the guest--whoever he or she turned out to be. His whiskers twitched nervously. He wished he had cake with him. His natural impulse to offer people dessert was at times difficult to control. And cake smoothed over most types of awkwardness, in his experience. He was quite surprised to see another Leveret, and an Esterberry at that, when he pulled open the door. It would have been more of a relief (to see someone on the same footing as himself, that was) if the visitor had not been a stranger. They did not get many unannounced visitors here. Cautiously, he said, "Welcome. How may I help you?"

Shashi's ears twitched when the door opened to reveal a brightly colored Morganberry. The Rabbit grinned, time to work the Esterberry charm to get into the household. "Hello, My name is Shashi and I would like to acquire a job at this Warren if at all possible. It's a pleasure to meet someone I could possibly be working with."
Of course Shashi had an ego, and confidence to boot. When around other Leverets he was very much himself, and wasn't about to hide who he really was. In front of Jack or Doe, well that was a completely different story. He would ham it up as much as possible.
He would continue to politely smile until he was actually invited inside. He hoped that he wouldn't be turned away--he was a pretty and talented Leveret after all. Hopefully this Morganberry could see that. They normally wanted to better themselves, didn't they? He quickly shook the thoughts off and waited for a response.

Ushering the Leveret forward (and finding himself once again wanting for some kind of food as a greeting gift), Somhan said, "Ah, yes! Nice to meet you as well. I'll take you to Remmington. He is our Jack. Follow me, if you will."
Somhan didn't doubt that Sashi could find some kind of place in the warren. There was always room for more servants, and surely someone with Esterberry intelligence would be of use to a Jack as canny as their Remmington. He wished, not for the first time, that he had something to bring to the table other than cooking skills. Perhaps if he were more intelligent or more powerful he would finally have a chance with Chelan--he banished the thought from his head. Wicked insidious notion. For now, anyway.
He reached the door to the study. "This is where Remmington should be." He knocked politely on the door.

. . . And that would call it done. he thought to himself with a happy smile as he finished signing the last paper in the pile. Sitting back he closed his eyes ready to rest them for a bit. Well that was until someone tapped on the door. Arching a brow without opening his eyes he wondered who it was that would be standing on the other side of the door. Everyone in his Burrow knew that they were not to disturb him while he was in his Study, at least not if it was something of importance. He considered if he would bite their head off or invite them in. He was done with his work . . . but if it was a Leveret then it might be fun to make them cower depending on which one it was. Giving a sigh he finally settled on being polite till he knew more of the situation. “Come in” He called out, pulling himself to sit straight up in the chair and his eyes on the door.

Shashi smiled. Triumph! He happily trotted behind his fellow Leveret. He seemed like a nice fellow, not even hard on the eyes. And... he was a he? Well, it was hard to tell sometimes. Not like it mattered, he could always ask later if he felt so inclined.
Once they stopped in front of the study, the Esterberry's ears perked for a moment. When "come in" was announced he made a motion to the Morganberry, and opened the door himself. If the Jack was going to yell, he was going to yell at someone who had every intention of becoming his new servant.
A soon as the figure of the Jack came into sight, he bowed as best he could. "I'm absolutely honored to meet the Master of this amazing warren," he said as he kept his head down, avoiding eye contact. It was good to be a coward a lot of the time. "A humble servant such as myself was wondering if I could possibly get a job at this fantastically run warren?"

Somhan watched this odd and elaborate display of sycophancy with the bemusement he felt it merited. Well, not so surprising, perhaps, for a Leveret looking for a warren, but he was not sure how Remmington would react. Well, he hoped. He didn't want to witness anything unpleasant. Or be the victim of anything unpleasant.
He stood discreetly behind Sashi, torn between trying to dutifully announce the arrival of the new Leveret--who had done quite a good job of announcing himself--and darting back into the kitchen for some stress-baking. The latter was probably a bad idea. The last time he had baked under stress, he had ended up with a cake with hearts and a big capital C piped in pink icing. He couldn't make mistakes like that.
"This is Sashi," he said, somewhat helplessly, head down. "He is...quite excited to make your acquaintance, sir."

When the two Leveret’s entered his study he watched them with close eyes, making assessments of the new one. An Esterberry? Well that was surely impressive. The Esterberry’s were known for their smarts after all.
After the Leveret had finished introducing himself Leon remained silent just observing. “Yes I can see that.” He finally replied, aiming the comment at both of them.
“Well I suppose we can find a place for you somewhere around here. Somhan, take – Sashi was it? – to see the lead Leveret to see about finding a job.” He said dismissing them with a wave of his hand.
While he decided on every Leveret who would work in his Warren, he left it to the oldest Leveret, Rais, to manage their actually duties and tasks. As long as everything was running well and all of his needs met, he was okay with just checking with Rais every now and then to make sure that everything was in order.

Shashi gave a small bow to the Jack. "Thank you, sir," he said with a cheerful tone. He almost had the job, that was fantastic! He wouldn't have to run for a while from the looks of it. At least that was his hope. Usually the Jack's didn't start hitting on him until they were bored out of their skulls.
That Rabbit had more than noticed the mispronunciation of his name. If he didn't love it so much he would have hated his mother for doing it to him. Half silent H's were always a killer. Maybe he would bother to correct Somhan later? Maybe not. After leaving the room as directed he waited for the Morganberry to lead the way.
He wanted to say something to break the silence, but he honestly couldn't think of any conversation that wouldn't be awkward. He still didn't have the job yet so he probably shouldn't ask questions about the Warren until he did.

Somhan obediently led his new warren-mate to the head Leveret, happy that the little meeting between the Esterberry and their Jack had gone well. He hadn't wanted anyone getting kicked out or killed, and Shashi seemed nice enough. He considered making some idle chit-chat about blah-blah and whatever, but it was a short hop to Rais, and if Shashi weren't immediately occupied afterward, Somhan thought he might bring him a little celebratory cake and entice his new fellow to tell him all about himself.
Rais was busy barking orders at his underlings, who were vigorously cleaning. He hesitated a moment about speaking up, then said, "Rais, pardon the interruption, but we have a new friend. Remmington would like you to give him his duties."
The Leveret looked at Shashi appraisingly. "And what," he said, "would a bright young sprite like yourself have a yen to do?"
