{First RP thread here with Tanuki. Please tell me if I do something bizarre, and feel free to jump in!}
Tanuki was snoozing, she had one feathered-paw dipped idly into the clear waters of Selkie Lakes, and in her sleep she twitched, creating soft ripples across the slow water that mimicked her own vivid turquoise markings. One of her two tails was lolling gently from side to side.
Idly, she reached up with a forepaw to bat at her ears, her paw, however, snagged on the single golden crescent-moon that hung there, causing Tanuki to awake with a loud yip, and a splash. After successfully removing herself from her watery-wake-up-call, she twirled her lithe body, shaking the excess water away in a miniature shower of crystal droplets.
“I wonder…” She mused aloud, “Should I get too wet, will my rank and suit come off? Will my fur be grey?” Sometimes, she started to think far too much for her own good. Cobalt-mist eyes blinked the last abandoned droplets of water from her pelt as she stared out across the brilliant ripples moving away from her. She had often thought that her eyes had in fact once been a sapphire blue, such as the scales of certain fish, but she had opened her eyes underwater and their colour had bled into a pale ‘mask’ about her face.
“How silly I am!” she giggled to herself, loping – or at least, what she defined as a lope, which was actually a considerable pace – back towards the small town of white-walled buildings and fish-scale streets that she called home. Her earring jingled pleasantly beside her as she held her twin-tails high to let the extensive feathering air out.
“Hello, hello! It’s such a beautiful day!” Her sunny disposition radiated around and bounced back in many smaller voices – echoes, but friendly ones none the less. She began to sing to herself in a tuneful, watery sort of way.
