Pascha hopped off of his bed, shifting fluidly into his bipedal in order to land on feet-like talons. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror and was satisfied with what he saw - neatly groomed, pristine white feathers covering well-toned muscles. The fact that he was horribly short, even in bipedal, could be ignored. The bird serenely made his way out of his rooms and started the long trek through the Courts to where the offices were. It gave him time to reflect and make the final decision - did he want to go through with this? He'd made a formal appointment with Aderlass, something he'd never bothered to do previously. He was there when nearly all of the important information went through, or heard about it later, so formal meetings were unnecessary. Today, though, it was different. Today he was going to finally become one of Aderlass' Kings, even if it killed him - and knowing his Queen, he had no doubts that he would be pushed that far. Yes, he decided, he was going through with this. There was no way he couldn't. The bipedal reached the office door and knocked.

With a common flick of his wrist, he signed his signature to the dotted line at the bottom of the document. He was currently working his way through the daily pile that seemed to live on his desk. As he worked he hummed a small tune to himself. This was going to be an interesting day. His adopted son Cha had requested a formal meeting with him - something that was never done but the strange owl. This was going to be an interesting day indeed. He had been plotting things for the owl to do for his quest and finally he had come up with something fun. Oh, he could not wait. Finishing off the last sheet of paperwork and placing it in the done pile, he stretched his arms above his head. Interlacing his fingers he cracked his knuckles. Now it would all come down to awaiting the bird's arrival.

Pascha had been getting the feeling for several days that his quest was going to be unusual in typical Aderlass-style. He didn't begrudge the mouse his fun, he really didn't, but he was hoping it wasn't going to involve public embarrassment to prove his loyalty or something like that.
He'd do it if he had to, but the owl was sincerely hoping it wouldn't come to that. A nice fight, maybe some smuggling - something interesting! - was what he wanted. But knowing Ader, he'd probably be sent on a bizarre quest to find the "lone blue duck" or something equally as silly.
Once he had permission to enter he slid the door open and slipped through it, paused to bow, and stood in front of the desk. "My Queen, I'm here for my King quest. I'm ready." The owl stated without hesitation, though he had risen an eyebrow at the highly relaxed pose the man had taken.
When Aderlass was relaxed, it meant it was time to play. Delightful.

Hearing the knock on the door he gave an evil grin. Oh, the fun was about to begin.
Making his face more neutral in expression, though it would not completely hide his excitement over this, he bid the owl entrance. He remained relax, enjoying this way too much.
"Well congratulations. It has been far too long in coming, you know." He replied. In truth he was pleased that Cha had finally decided to do this. There were not many he knew who were loyal to him, though many who came to him were loyal to their suit.
He did not bid the owl to sit, this would be over quickly enough. "So for your Quest, I have spent a great deal thinking about this . . . and then came to realize that I am too lazy to actually think of anything. However, something did come to mind.
For all of the years that I have known you - and they have been quite a few - I have not really seen your powers in play. Especially those of your pretty watch which you refuse to tell me about. Therefor, your Quest is for you to find a victim - it can not be me - and to use this hidden power on them. That is unless it will cause their death. We do not need any of that going around. Once you have used it you are to bring me proof of completion, rather it be the person themselves or an object. Go, your time starts now."

Pascha listened nicely, shrugging absently at the first comment. Perhaps it had, perhaps it hadn't. The owl had plenty of issues he'd had to deal with before he felt comfortable with truly devoting his time to the Courts, and while that period had been longer than Ader wanted, it was necessary in his mind.
Unless he wanted a crazy birdy as his King. He'd continue to play the part, of course, but it was nice knowing he had a layer of sanity, slim though it might be.
The owl snorted quietly. Too lazy to think of something? Now that sounded like the Aderlass he knew and loved.
As the mouse elaborated on his quest, a slow grin formed on the owl's beak. Well this might be entertaining afterall - especially considering his Queen knew nothing about his watch powers. He'd purposefully kept the watch's secrets a mystery, mostly because he hoped to have an occasion to use them upon the mouse himself and get an hour of pure entertainment out of it. He nearly cackled at the thought, but it immediately turned to a pout when the condition of 'not on me' was stipulated.
Damn.
Well, it went two ways.
"No death," He commented lightly, his mind already breezing through who was visiting on that particular day. Wasn't Shinrai supposed to be coming for a meeting today?
The owl immediately set out of the room without another word, a rather sadistic grin on his face.

Not only was he visiting, he had arrived and was utterly unaware of wot just might lay before him. His hand was raised to knock when the door opened and the white owl filled the portal. The stallion lofted a brow at the convenient timing, though only mild surprise stained his features. It was often that one got such wonderful service, even at the Court of Clubs. "Pascha. Excellent timing. Is Aderlass in?" The grin set off little alarm bells in Rai's mind but he quickly tried to reason it away. While Cha knew he'd be at the Court today, it was terribly unlikely that particular grin was meant to be directed at him. If anything, Aderlass had just set the owl on some nefarious task and Rai had just stepped in on the planning of it. He still had chills along his spine, though.

Today was turning out to be quite a wonderful day afterall! Not only did he have a remarkably easy quest (unless Ader decided to compound it) but his quarry turned up right outside the doorway. He'd suspect a trap if Rai didn't have such an innocent and mildly confused look on his face. As it was, he'd take his blessings as they came.
"Good afternoon, your Majesty," Pascha greeted, immediately smoothing his features into his usual complacent mask. "He is, he's in his office. Go ahead, no one else is in there." The owl stepped aside to allow the stallion to enter, keeping his face completely neutral until Rai's gaze was beyond his face.
Then he smirked around the skinnier human body, purposefully meeting Aderlass's gaze, then called out once to the horse. "Shinrai?" He questioned just loudly enough to merit a glance backwards. As soon as the Queen's gaze was on his he snapped the watch open and activated the spell, then dashed out of the room so it would befall upon Aderlass, and not himself.
What fun would it be if Shinrai was in love with him, afterall? It would be far more amusing upon Aderlass. The owl gave it a few moments to be sure it activated (it had to work right, for there was no one else in the room!) then stepped back in with a polite smirk on his face. He wouldn't explain until Aderlass requested he did so.

He watched with an amused grin as the owl accepted his quest and headed out straight to do so. Pulling another form toward him he was about to start working on it when he heard voices outside of his door, it having not been completely shut yet.
Was that Whip's voice that he heard? Trying to overhear what was going on between the two of them he was almost tempted to switch back to his bipedal form for better hearing when the door opened wider to allow the guest in.
"Ah, Shinrai, it is good to see you - " he started off in greeting before being cut off by Cha's interruption and a bright light. Before he could take in what had just happened he blinked before meeting Whip's gaze with a puzzled look of his own.
From what he could gather apparently Cha had chosen his victim.

It wasn't that there was suddenly sunshine and butterflies, but Rai felt oddly like something had changed, almost as though something had shifted through that bright light. Of course he was still blinking to try to clear his eyes from the flash, so he initially turned rather blindly towards the sound of his friend's voice.
When they cleared he couldn't help but blink again before swiftly casting his eyes towards the floor. He couldn't quite make himself meet the mouse's gaze, and he cleared his throat uneasily. He couldn't immediately remember exactly why he had come in; the nervousness was strange and he needed a moment to adjust, to be able to process his thoughts and react normally again. Well, almost normally.
"Aderlass. It's, ah, good to see you." Did that sound lame? That totally sounded lame. He tried to put it from his mind, moving a few slow steps closer before swaying to an uneasy stop. He was tongue-tied. Sweet snot, he couldn't remember what he was going to say. He stood there awkwardly, glancing up sideways towards the mouse occasionally before his eyes would just as quickly slip away again.

Pascha eyed Shinrai to distinguish exactly the moment that the spell set into his brain. The two were still staring at each other in a baffled manner so he was positive it had set in correctly. Grinning he edged closer, raising an eyebrow silently at the two Queens before him.
Awkward conversation, how doth he love thee? Let him count the ways!
The owl had to keep from outright cackling and instead turned and began coughing as quietly as possible into the wall to keep the laughter at bay. It was too funny to see the usually powerful stallion at such a loss for words, and even funnier was Aderlass' matching bemused expression.
Still he said nothing, wanting to see if the mouse would pick up on what had happened on his own. It probably wouldn't be evident unless Shinrai began gushing his love - unlikely - but he was certainly going to act funny for a while.
