((So yeah... Bernard was bound and determined that the girl would be educated. Lani was bound and determined that she would make the biggest pain out of herself so that she didn't have to go to lessons. This lasted for about a year before she finally got over herself enough to stop. Poor Bernard. <3))
A six-year-old Lani howled in rage, thrashing all of her limbs (of which there were many) in any number of positions to try and escape the prison that bound her, to no avail. She was stuck and there was no getting out of one of her uncle's green prison-beam-things. She hated these things!
She howled again and screamed, the sound frustrated and angry. No, she did not want to go to school! Lessons were stupid! She didn't like the tutor! It took up time she could be playing outside! She didn't WANT to! None of those excuses mattered to her uncle, not her screams or her tantrums or even the bite she gave his ankle that left him limping along the hallway with her. She was making quite the spectacle and people walking past were turning to see who was making a child scream like that. When they saw it was her, a few of them rolled her eyes and moved on, whispering to anyone who didn't know that the princess was on her way to lessons for the day.
You'd think her uncle would have learned that this would happen whenever he said it was time for lessons, and yet he still said it! He'd gotten better at dodging her tantrums, though, and the green prison of light was almost instantly cast every time. Occasionally she could still get him, though, as his ankle now proved.
It just didn't make any sense, her having to go sit through boring, tedious, thoroughly uninteresting lessons day after day. Her sister may not have seen the problem with them, but Vio always took things like that better than she did.
Her Daddy told her that she could do anything she wanted to, and that she only couldn't do things he or her father or her uncle or occasionally other people said she couldn't. She did have to listen to her uncle, but she didn't want to, thus the dilemma.
When Bernard finally got her into the room where the tutor waited with an amused, long-suffering expression, Lani didn't stop her antics. In fact, they only increased in scope. She would make the biggest disruption she could and hope that the teacher might just get tired of the whole thing, like the last one did, and call off lessons.
Lior sighed and turned his head away from the sight of the younger girl throwing a fit. He got really tired of this. It wasn't that he particularly enjoyed lessons himself, but couldn't she just be quiet once in a while and make it less painful for the rest of them? Her howling was really, truly obnoxious and he hated having to listen to it more days than not. It took almost an hour for her to finally run out of steam and flop on her cushion, where she promptly ignored all of them until the instructor finally let them go for the day.
Their uncle assured the rest of them that she would eventually get tired of it all and just resign herself to her lessons, but he saw no signs of it happening.
Another scream made his ears flatten against his head and his shoulders hunched. Spoiled little brat.
