Sabe was here in the city for the longest time then what he would have wanted to be here for... he had expected to leave by now and was starting to feel rather sheepish. He knew that this was Isolde's stomping grounds and he didn't want to come across her again. Things would turn out rather weird. So he had a list delivered to him by one of his workers from the his owned business here that was stating that some masonry things where needed to be delivered on the double to a company that was looking to build yet another something... Sabe didn't realized just how big the business had gotten already, he was used to delivering small packages and letters as first class mail... but now... it was as if things where starting to explode around him... people have heard about this new First Class Delivery and thought that they could transport larger bulk of things without the need to thing about the current size of the matter. So the poor heron had to pay out of his pocket to hire teams of horses and the such to lug around the objects that he needed to deliver, keeping in mind the profit that he needed to make... right now he had one team of 2 horses, Dave and Bill, and one other avian named Drids... a funny sparrow, who just entered his adult life. He gave a sigh as he was carrying the documents for transfer of funds, to Sabes company... this was going to be a one going thing that he knew of... so why not make a deal? That his company would be the Soul Delivery company to the enterprise that he is running, neither one had to worry about falling out of business... the world was always growing. He gave a sigh as he approached the HQ, which he was told to enter and meet this prestigious mason. He walked up and gave the door a good knocking. He thought this would be the best way to introduce yourself... one wasn't just to barge in... That would be rude.

Work was terrible this morning, first half of his workers didn't come in then he had to order supplies to be overnighted because his original supplier had flaked out on him... What else was going to go wrong? At least the delivery was coming soon and Peder could get things back in order... things hadn't been the same since his last words with Dilis... Tucker peeked his head in and gestured to the Selkie Laker. " Sir, the delivery has just arrived... I have him waiting in the lobby." " Oh good, go ahead and bring him in Tucker... make sure this one doesn't run away screaming" he laughed. Tucker was a good contractor but his customer service could have been better. Peder had no doubt that he had just dumped the guy waiting in the lobby without a word. He heard the knock on the door, and he opened it putting on a jovial face. " Hello! Welcome, I really appreciate you bringing this to me on such short notice. For your trouble, I will make sure to include an extra something with your payment. Please, come in." He could be formal if he needed to be but... hm, this fella looked familiar but he just couldn't place him. Shit, this was going to bug him until he figured it out.

Indeed Tucker had left him in the lobby without asking any questions save the important ones. Sabe didn't mind though, he knew how some of those types of people where, so it didn't bother him in the least. He waited and even looked at a few magazines and pamphlets. Though when the contractor came back and said that the boss was ready to see him, did Sabe get up and walk with the man.
Once he arrived he knew that this was a mistake as he saw the face of Peder... Isolde's father. Isolde had talked about him often enough in the weeks that they lived together, and he wasn't hard to miss in the crowed. He gave a sigh and put on his business face.
"Why thank ye, It was on short notice, but that is what the Safe Delivery Company be all about." he said as he walked into the onsite office. He would have to handle this on a business level and nothing more, he hoped... and he hoped that Isolde didn't tell her father much about himself, he didn't want to be found out that he was living in a small hotel in the capital... and that he was that mysterious second in command that he had mentioned to her in the letter...

Alright well, I guess this was just a businessman by heart. That was alright, Peder didn't mind just getting down the nitty gritty.
"My name is Peder and as you probably have gathered I am the owner of this company, I run it with my brother but I am here a lot more often than he is. It would seem I have a better eye for business than he does.
But if you would like to get down it, I have some papers for you to sign just stating that you did indeed bring me what I required and I will check out what you've brought as a double check. If there is something else to address, then then I think that now would be the best time. Also, stated is because of your fast service I have included 50% of your fee as your tip. I hope that is satisfactory to you" he said in a more serious tone than before. He placed the papers on the desk space in front of Sabe for him to review and sign. He then gestured for Sabe to hand over the supplies.

Business it was, and that was how Sabe wanted this to be, he didn't question Peder's documents but he didn't enjoy being over payed for something,
"I'm sorry Peder, but I cannot accept the fifty percent increase of pay, for it wasn't added in the figures before hand. I knew the pay, and didn't expect this sum to be added. So it would please me that you were to draw up some more papers for only the intended cash." He didn't mean it as a insult, even though it sounded like one... he meant it as a will of good faith, nothing more or less.
The Kahmden heron withdrew his own paperwork laying it on the desk as well.
"I be having some documents here that need your signing as well... these state that you have received the shipment and the payment is paid in full." It would seem that both Sabe and Peder were good business men covering there rear ends as well as they were.
But...
Behind all the documents that he laid out for signing did he expertly leave the document that gave exclusive rights to the Safe Delivery Company to be the only delivery company that Peder's mason company would use.

Peder was a pretty shrewd businessman and he had been around the block but it certainly shock him when Sabe turned down the tip money. Not once in his 25 years in the masonry business had he come across this. He simply did not understand it but if this was what Sabe wanted then so be it.
"Well that is quite alright Sabe, it is obvious to see you are a man of character and it doesn't surprise me that much that you would turn it down." Peder called out to Tucker "Hey Tucker, go head and make up another set of these documents striking the extra payment from them."
"You got it boss" Tucker called sounding kinda shocked at the request.
"Now" Peder turned back to Sabe. "While he's doing that, I will take a look at what you have for me." He pulled the papers toward them and carefully wen through them. It was all standard stuff, that he had seen a million times before and he signed as he went until he got to he last page. So he wanted to be the sole delivery company, ay?
"You know son, if you wanted to have our account exclusively then you could have just asked me. I don't much like the other companies, they have a tendency to cancel the shipment at the last minute as they have done to me today so... I think it can be arranged for you to be responsible for it from now on."
"However, I have a stipulation for my business. I will only give you my account if you handle it personally. If you can agree to that, I will sign this." Peder liked the boy, he trusted him and didn't want to have to deal with any other person who might rip him off.

The shock on the face of Peder was priceless; it was the reaction that he was shooting for, something of trust building and good faith. Even his assistant was surprised which made Sabe smile broadly.
"I could have asked, but if I had then the answer could have changed, at least this way ye be reading it first and put on the spot." he said with a tad bit of amusement.
Without realizing it the poor heron had to place his name on the document also... so he reached over and took the styles and wrote out his name delicately with swift strokes. "There ye go, signed and will be handled personally by me."
Sabe wouldn't be able to sign the document under any other name... if he did then it would be infringement of contract... and that would be bad, so he had to sign with his real name... Sabe...

Peder grinned and smacked the boy on the back affectionately. "Good show, man! You played that very well. I am definitely impressed and as promised I will sign the agreement" Peder leaned over and signed his name stating that Sabe's company could be the sole distributor of his companies supplies.
"You know mate, you seem really familiar to me... Can't place ya though. Have we met before?"
"Sabe, huh" he read looking over the documents as Sabe handed them back. "I heard of a Sabe before, don't spose you be the same guy, yea?"
It didn't matter either way, Peder just was having a bit of fun anyhow. He figured out how he knew him as it was, but he wasn't going to be the person who said it first. It wasn't really his business to. He would however keep it a secret this heron made the delivery, wouldn't want to end up hurting her by mentioning it. She was sad as it was after what happened between them.

The smack on the back of the heron almost caused poor, light as a feather, Sabe to fall forward. He didn't have any dense mass that others did... he was frail and just lean muscle. So what the feline thought was an affectionate smack was more like a punch to the heron, but he wasn’t going to show it that much… now that they where business partners. If either one of their companies grew then the other would grow as well, it was a delicate balance between the two… but if one grew faster than the other then it would mean the end for the smaller of the two companies.
And no Sabe never went to business school… this was something that he picked up on from working out in the field. A true boss never truly understood his company unless he himself worked for it… not letting it work for the boss. Sabe enjoyed making these sort of deliveries.
”I don’t know if I’m that same Sabe, though are you Peder father of Isolde?” he asked, he didn’t want this to blow up in his face later on in their careers, that would be bad for business. So it would be better to have all the arguments and all the of the fuss done here and now… instead of later.
”And if ye be Isolde’s father, then I don’t suppose ye wouldn’t mind not telling her where I be?”

((a bit short))
Interesting... Peder thought as Sabe answered his question. "I am such the man" he said proudly. He would never hesitate to claim that child, she was the best he could ask for.
Sabe's next question struck him though. "Why the devil would I do that? I knew you guys weren't talking right now but I hadn't realized it was that bad. However, if you really don't want me to tell her then okay I will respect your decision. I'm curious though, what's going to happen when she decides she wants to come work with me? She's always been interested in business..."
Why did life have to be so complicated for these two? They obviously cared a bit about each other, that should be enough but somehow it wasn't.
