The skunk ordered and almost immediately forgot wot it was she’d gotten because her mind was right back to her list of names and addresses and exactly wot she needed to do next. So while she was eating the food and enjoying it subconsciously, she wasn’t actually thinking about it. She blinked and turned her distracted gaze to the feline. ”Hm? Oh, it’s fine.” Her pale, slate blue eyes dropped down to her bowl of tuna fish atop a salad as though seeing it for the first time. She sort of tilted her head at it curiously and flicked her ears back before returning her attention to her companion. ”And how is yours?”
Even as she inquired, she had to work hard to keep her attention focused on the other woman. She didn’t want to be rude but she was having a much harder time concentrating with the problem floating around in her mind.

Minh felt that the answer was fairly self-evident, considering she hadn’t bothered to glance up from inhaling her food until she was completely sure she’d moped up every last drop of soup with the last hunk of her bread, but she hummed in what she hoped sounded encouraging and positive—and would somehow convey that this could have very well been the best meal of her entirely too short existence.
Not that Kelasia seemed particularly interested—that girl’s head had been lost up in the clouds ever since they’d stopped their research for the day, and she’d never really found her way back down to earth. Minh couldn’t help but wonder what she was thinking about, but some small measure of tact whispered that it might not be polite to pry. Of course, Minh wasn’t in the habit of ever really paying much attention to that particular little voice.
“So, Kelasia—what’s on your mind?”

Kelasia gave a distracted nod at Minh’s sound, and her mind beginning to wander yet again. The Corvistowneian feline’s question recalled her thoughts and she blushed fiercely. She had neglected the conversation and now Minh was likely feeling the same. The skunk was distraught by the thought that she might have just lost one of her first few friends. ”Oh, I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed uneasily. ”I was just… that is.”
She flushed again and felt terrible for a very long moment before contuining her explanation. ”I was trying to decide the best way to seek out the men and women on that list. Most of them are still somewhere in the Capital, so it shouldn’t be –that- hard to track them down.” Except that she was terrible with directions and didn’t really know the City at all, despite Rogers attempts to the contrary. The skunk still wasn’t certain how to get around that issue.

Minh shook her head in amusement—she really didn’t care; it was just fun actually being the focused one in a group for a change. And she couldn’t help but be delighted at Kelasia’s subtle slip alluding to being just as directionally challenged as Minh—only on a much more narrow scale, it would appear.
She waved the waiter over for the bill, and without hesitation dug into her haversack for the loot and paid for them both—it wasn’t any big deal, really. She had a steady enough income, whenever she bothered to actually “work”. Society was so completely backwards; if you didn’t get paid for what you were doing you weren’t actually working—wasn’t her work benefiting their race? Ignoramuses.
“Well, I’m full. Do you want to go somewhere for coffee, or do you need to be heading home? It is getting to be a bit late.”
If Kelasia had the time they could grab some lattes to go and hit the booths in the bazaar before they closed. (And Minh could avoid returning home to Mnem for a little while longer.)

Despite the lateness of the day, though it was really just about late afternoon, Kel’s mindset was much like Minh’s; she really just didn’t want to go back to work yet. She’d lost most of the afternoon and she’d just make it up tonight instead. She felt suddenly dangerous and free; skipping the rest of work to go play! Even if she’d already decided to make it back up that evening.
The skunk made to protest when Minh determinedly paid for their meal. The feline ignored her, however, and the woman subsided quickly. She couldn’t convince herself to argue further about it, even if she could easily afford to pay for her own meals now that she was working regularly.
”Coffee sounds great,” the Sorgaire Range skunk said lightly. ”Do you have any suggestions on where to go?” The muted toned female didn’t often go out for coffee; in fact, it seemed to be an activity reserved to the few times she was with Mnem or Minh.

Oh, Minh had lots of suggestions. But it all depended on where they were. Being directionally challenged could be so bothersome, sometimes.
She exited the bistro, stretching as she went and looked around for familiar landmarks. For once she actually recognized where she was, though. Huh.
“There’s a café just about two blocks from here—want to grab a latte and cruse the stalls in the bazaar before they close?”
Minh looked to Kel for confirmation, hoping that the skunk would agree as she gestured down the twilight-lit street, thinking about what she might find on their journey that might come in handy later on down the road. Mnem and she were almost ready for their journey, after-all, and she wouldn’t want to head out unprepared. At the moment though, she just wanted to have fun. (And avoid cleaning).
She really did like Kel’s company—but it would be nice if the girl grew a spine. Minh tilted her head as she contemplated the matter at hand. She’d seen there was a fiery side to her passion, but with the exception of books Minh had no idea to bring out the inner-tiger, so-to-speak. It was a matter to consider at great detail at a later date. Yeah.

”Oh, that sounds fine,” the skunk said with a smile, oblivious to the thoughts about her lack of backbone. Really, the woman thought she was doing wonderfully well when it came to standing up for herself, especially since she didn’t fully realize that she might even have a problem. It also made it very simple for others to get her to go along with their plans.
As they walked towards the café, the skunk’s mind was lingering on their plans now and the bazaar. ”Are you searching for something specific at the bazaar?” she asked quietly. She didn’t often go there either, so she viewed this whole thing as a grand adventure from her usual schedule. Perhaps she would be able to find a little present for theofilus and Rogers? That would make a lovely surprise for when she returned to the office. Though wot to get for the men she really wasn’t certain.

Minh wasn’t looking for anything particular in the bazaar—if she saw something useful she’s probably buy it, though—her reasons for the visit was more for the sake of shopping, than anything else. Her undesirable urge to constantly hit the sale-racks was probably the only truly feminine characteristic about herself. And thrift shopping was an absolute blast—you never knew what strange untold curiosities that were waiting to be found in the bazaar.
She smiled at Kel, “No, not really. Anything particular you want to look for, or do you just want to wander?”
Sipping at her caramel macchiato she gave a delighted squawk and scampered over to a used-book dealer, flipping through a first-edition of Shadow Horrors: Notes from the Underground, an older, near-impossible-to-find mystery novel by Frak Olric. She did a little dance and forked over the ridiculous amount of money the greasy salesman demanded with a qualm. Score.

Kelasia sipped at her drink— she had followed Minh’s suit and gotten a caramel macchiato as well, a surprisingly tasty coffee— and gave a small, secretive smile that could have meant a great deal or nothing at all. ”No, I don’t really have anything specific in mind.” Wandering sounded like the best option to the quiet skunk, and even their first few steps into the bazaar was rewarded by the feline’s squeal of delight.
Kel watched the cat with pale, amused eyes though she knew nothing about the book the other woman bought so gleefully. She skimmed the title and hrmmed softly before beginning to peruse the man’s bins and shelves looking almost idly for something useful. There were books on pets and summons, flight and sailing, but nothing that really caught her eye. Especially not with her eye searching for gifts for the men in her life. It never occurred to her to look for something for herself.
