"Oh my, you're quite a nice woman. It's been a long time since anyone's offered to serve me tea," Rocky's twitched with happy anticipation. Apparently with all of his failures, he at least had some sort of win today. He grinned happily at the skunk. An angel without wings, it had been a long time since he met one. He had to thank someone for their kindness for this one.
"I never had a head for numbers. Chemical symbols made so much more sense to me for childhood on. But obviously I haven't perfected any of my work. Heh. One day though. One day I'll be able to fly even if it kills me." He nodded. Then be blinked with surprise. Saying that out loud sounded a lot worse than inside his head. "Good Heavens, I didn't mean to be so grave." He blushed a bit.

The woman smiled lightly at Rocky's enthusiasm, beginning to set out the dishes as she listened to him chatter eagerly. However, his rather fatalistic statement drew her up to blink at him in utter and complete surprise. She gave a slightly uneasy laugh in response, pouring out the tea carefully.
"Being dead wouldn't help you fly," she said quietly, and sent him a brief, questing glance. "I believe it would be a distinct hinderance, actually." More than a bit of a hinderance, really. She absently prepared the tea the way she would for Theofilus, not really paying attention to her actions as she thought. She placed the cup down gently in front of Rocky.
"Together we can surely find an answer to your quandry. Don't lose hope." She gave him a more real smile. "Now, you said you'd tell me wot you already know about lift." She moved to her own chair, sans tea -- she was too likely to knock it over her papers -- and began to go over the numbers as she listened to him.

And Rocky explained everything. The psychics, the math, the common sense, all of it. The raccoon finished with a gulp of his tea. The words were now washed down, and he hoped that he hadn't spoken too fast. She was busy checking her numbers though, was she actually able to multitask that well?
"So that's what I know about lift. I am very aware that my wings are entirely too small for my body. I just need to know what to do after they're big enough to fly." He shrugged. He didn't even know when that would happen. He still hadn't come up with a proper growth formula or anything to stimulate his wings. When he hit that breakthrough he would be the happiest raccoon on earth. What would he do after being able to fly? Well, he wasn't sure. He could think about that goal later. For now he was talking about lift with this lovely lady. "Thank you for the tea!"

Kelasia ran a finger down the row of numbers for the third time, but they were still mostly lining up as desired. Her mind was processing the main of wot Rocco had said even as she paused her number checks to make a small note next to one of the entries. She'd have to look up the records for that one later.
"It sounds like the problem very well may take care of itself once you get the larger wings," she admitted quietly. "There's no evidence that you shouldn't be able to fly other than the proportion issue." A small frown pressed at her forehead and her ears flicked back briefly. Really, the mechanics of the thing only helped so far. This didn't look like just a scientific issue anymore; this is was a matter of semantics. "Is there some way to watch birds or bats flying?" she asked suddenly. Perhaps if they watched together they could find the answer.

"We could watch songs birds, or perhaps ask Mr. Theofilus," Rocky suggested as he sipped on some of his tea. He had no idea where they could find a bat, he didn't know any off the top of his head. Maybe Kelasia knew some that live in the city?
"Well, if you know anyone else who can fly I suppose that would be helpful. The one person I did ask helped me quite a bit, but her lift and so forth is a bit different because her... unique conditions." Rocky said as he looked at the skunk curiously. Diamonds could fly with magic, but that was certainly cheating. If it didn't have proper wings, machine or other wise, it wasn't really flying. Of course there weren't that many properly winged breeds running around.
"I suppose it would help if I knew more people who could fly." Rocky said with an indifferent shrug.

Kelasia was really rather surprised that Rocco hadn't started asking anything or anyone with wings to help him. She was afraid it might be rather rude to point that out, though, so she said nothing for now. If it came up as a point where she could legitimately tease without offense, she might. Being friends with someone was a new and lovely experience that was still very uneasy for her.
"I'm sure we'll come up with something," she finally stated as confidently as she could. Rocky had so much determination, it'd be a real shock for him to not eventually succeed in this fond dream of his. "All we have to do is think of it."
As she began to check the next row of numbers, she continued to toss ideas back and forth with the raccoon, she couldn't help but smile lightly in pleasure at their easy discussion. Yes, it was nice to begin actually developing friendships.
