((Took me long enough to do it but um, here's what I got. It's not much but that's alright))
She had been dreading doing this, originally she was going to just have Father take care of it and she would stay home but she realized it was not what he would have wanted. He would have wanted her to be there, to pay her last respects. She could not believe how quickly he had disappeared from her, life was so fragile and within minutes he was gone. If only he had not fought for her pearls...
Tears formed in her eyes as she relived the events. They were just material things! He was foolish for doing something like that but he loved her so it should have been expected. How long had he held it all in, she wondered. The unrequited love that he only admitted in his dying words? It broke her heart to know that he held it together, not letting her into his deepest secret and longing. So much lost time they could have spent together but instead he was in a place he could not come back from.
Dilis stood up from the spot he had fallen and wiped the tears away. She had left some notes for Father with his body to retrieve him but since she was tagging along, she figured she would rid of the evidence of it. She pointed his dad's buddies toward the body and looked away quickly as they hoisted it from the ground. She could only imagine what onlookers must have thought at this scene but thinking it over, this was the seedy side of Capital City anyway; maybe it was normal for the residents to see such things. All Dilis knew was that she had only seen one other dead body in her life and that was just as terrible as now if not more. This made it the second person in her life that meant the most to her to die. She was not sure how she was going to deal with this, even her Father had tried to console her and he never did such things. She just guessed it was because he knew Matthew meant so much to her, during her school days he was her entire world outside her studies. He was her friend, companion and most times her bodyguard. Her schoolmates were so cruel to her because she didn't have a mom and Matthew always stood up for her and helped her out in fights. Kids could be so cruel.
She dropped the blue rose she had been carrying onto the ground where Matthew had laid during his final moments and walked away. Sure, she had Peder now to help her through but she knew that nothing would fill the void of her once best friend.
