... so I randomly decided to right a fic with Ez in it. It's not about anything mind blowing it's just him dealing with his everyday problems until an old friend shows up and he's forced to face his problems. I figure no one is going to bother reading this. *snorts* Thought I woudl post it anyway.

Something From Nothing
The sparrow sat in his office. He had a great job. Really. Planning parties for rich people made him happy. And well... it made him "rich" to some extent. He wasn't poor that was for sure. However, that didn't make him happy. He wanted something else in his life, like a family and....
He sighed as he set the pen down on the table. He glared at the note book he had been writing in. A wedding and a birthday party for hell. Those were his events this week and he had gotten nothing done. Ez stood up and walked across the room. He didn't have a receptionist or anyone else in the office. He did all of it himself--it wasn't that difficult. And he got a lot more respect now that he had managed to wake up a Jack.
Yet another sigh escaped the sparrow. It wasn't good enough. He wanted more. He didn't want to live under the shadow of his father. The Queen of Diamonds? That was hard to beat. Impossible to beat actually. The sparrow would have joined the courts if his father had been "just a Queen." He never expected his old man to go for the title. But then again his old man wanted to change the world. Aces were people too--and Ez agreed. Asha was perfect proof of that. Of course morals had nothing to do with how Ez was feeling at the time.
"You're getting nowhere, idiot," He muttered as he opened up a cabinet to get himself a drink. It was morning, but he needed one something awful.
He stopped in mid-motion when he heard a knock on the door. The sparrow drooped a bit. Another customer. Joy. Putting on his charm the sparrow walked to the door and opened it up.
"Have you gotten taller?" said a rather pretty looking fox in front of him. He was bright pick with a bit of white, with a mane that reached the ground. He wore arm socks, leg warmers, and various strings of beads. He was quite a character, but that was obvious because he was a male Yarrow. King of Diamonds.
The sparrow suddenly lit up at the familiar person in front of him. "Rave! What the hell are you doing here?" He looked at the man up and down. He was still a character. that didn't change at the very least.
"Eh well, it's been a while but I thought I would stop by. I've been pretty busy at the asylum. I heard you've been pretty successful with this crazy business venture." He said as he took a step into the office.
"You're still a nurse then?" Ez chirped as he returned to his little liquor cabinet. "Your usual?"
"Of course!" The king said as he strutted his way to Ez's business chair. "So I hear you're a spoiled brat of royalty now. Kinda wondering why you're working."
"Daddy doesn't pay my bills. I do." Ez said setting the scotch on the rocks on the desk. "My chair. King or not get your ass out of it."
Rave stuck his tongue out, but relinquished the seat. Taking the seat where clients normally sat he sipped on his drink. "I didn't expect you to stop working. Though I thought you'd get more allowance for clothing."
Ez blinked at Rave. "Don't you dare insult my corset," he said, leaning forward. He brushed the headband out of his face for a moment, purple eyes trained on the fox in front of him.
Rave could easily feel the pull coming from the sparrow. It was odd... but then again didn't the sparrow used to have blue eyes? He shrugged it off. "You're still pretty no matter what you wear, I just thought you'd get rid of that little old corset."
"Funny foxy," Ez waved a finger as he sat in his seat properly. Crossing his legs he made himself comfortable. "You know full well from being my roommate how important this corset is to me. Anyway I normally only wear it on some of my day's off." He said staring at the man who sat in front of him. They had been roommates for two years while Rave had been studying to become a nurse, and Ez had been trying to become a party planner and interior designer. Obviously only one of those panned out.
Rave set his scotch down. "So, find a girl yet? Or boy. You are an equal opportunist."
Ez gave him a look of annoyance. "Pop quiz time? Fine. If you have to know I don't have anyone in my life. I had a miscarriage and my life generally sucks socially. Happy?"
The king looked at the sparrow with wide eyes. "Well if you're this angry there must be more. Why don't you tell the little nurse what's wrong? After all he'd like to hear the problems of someone who isn't crazy or hates their job."
The sparrow let out something akin to a growl. Really it was just an angry chirp combined with a mumble, but it got the point across. They had been good friends during those two years, and they had kept in touch by letter and such. Really Ez was happy to see him. But sharing his personal troubles just.... that never sat well with him. However, this was one of the few chances he could cave. After all the pretty little yarrow boy understood things better than any other person he knew.
"My family is falling apart. It started with my miscarriage. It took me a while to get over that--I'm still not over it really. Then my parents adopted a kid. He just disappeared one night. No sign of him. One of my brother's is having children. Worst yet there's a girl I really care for but..." he trailed off. Shaking his head he stopped. No he really shouldn't be saying all of this out loud.
"Damn. Sucks to be you," Rave said before tipping back his entire scotch. He stood up suddenly, the chair squealing behind him. His massive tail fluffed out behind him. "This means we have to go out drinking."
Ez blinked. "I have a job you know."
"Screw it." He said grabbing the sparrows hand and leading him to the door. For a skinny little man he was pretty strong. The sparrow failed to break free of his grip. Apparently he was going out drinking if he liked it or not.
---
"Stop sulking and tell me what's wrong!" Rave said wiggling the vodka tonic in front of him.
"I'm not sulking." Ez said He looked down at his Bloody Geisha with another one of his sighs.
Rave smacked him upside the head.
The sparrow made a distressed chirp and glared at the man. "FINE. I've in love with Ceci and I can't tell her how I feel because I obviously don't have the balls to do it!"
Rave smiled. "See. Wasn't that hard."
Bastard. "You..." Ez began, drink in his hand. He however didn't continue when his friend gave him a rather stern look.
"You have plenty of balls if you can get over what you've done in the past you retard. So get off your ass and go to her. She probably needs you more than you realize. From the way you talk about her." Rave said. "You say she's the greatest woman you've met, even if her profession is less than honorable. Someone treated her like an object and you made a mortal enemy. You're obviously head over heals for her even if you have feelings for someone else on some level. You want to be with her for the rest of your life don't you? Hell. Ez. I wish I could find a girl or guy like you."
The sparrow stared wide eyed at his friend. He was obviously tipsy, but spoke the truth. Staring down at the drink he slowly nodded. "We need to go out more often, Rave. I'll come to visit you some time at the asylum."
"Does that mean you're going to take my advice?" The king asked as he sipped the last of his drink.
"Sure. Why not. I just have to tell her the truth and if she rejects me then...I'll be a heart broken mess for the rest of my life." He smiled, "Let's hope I won't change my corset to black."
