In the dark cover of night, a young form sat in cold silence directly before the gates to the Court of Hearts. Oh how she wanted inside! Visitors were closed out for the night, but that wasn't what distressed her. No, it was the time it would take to rise from a mere 8 all the way up to even a simple Jack! That was what angered her, which left that little doe snarling in fury at what blocked her access. Not the gates but her own inadequate body. Why could she have no been born a 10 like her brother Severus? He'd been mere inches from obtaining Jack and she'd been born an 8. Still, even she had to admit, it wasn't as bad as her currently dour mood made everything feel. She was higher than her other 'siblings' and at very least she was a Heart. That, was to account for something. Abruptly something tore through Mephitisia's brooding thoughts and caused Mephit to not only forcefully flinch but to return abruptly to the reality around her. This distraction, however, was not the annoyance of a stranger or even her family, but of something internal. It was pain. The protection that her Suit's basic magic gave her had at last worn off for this hour and already the budding teenager was met with nothing but pain. Her jaw was on fire, her gums aching and for a moment the doe doubled over and collapsed onto the ground beside the road. She was lucky though, for as she fell she landed in the soft grass instead of upon the hard pavement and her fall was relatively cushioned though it did little to lessen the pain tormenting her. By this time of night she simply did not have the strength to use her ability to save her from these pangs. "Hnn!"This was not a new fit to her. No, this pain lingered more and more often as she aged. Already her adult teeth were growing in, but now there was something else. Where her canine's had been she was met with the points of something more. Something larger...and the pain, the pain of them cutting through, that was more excruciating than Mephitisia had ever expected. She was left writhing miserably upon the ground, struggling to block out the pain without the assistance of her abilities.

Osias was out and about near the Court of Hearts tonight as well, and certainly not for any reason the Queen would approve of. Osias held a deep loathing for Serafino now, especially after their last.. .encounter. He was doing what he did best, spying and collecting data for his own personal records, records no one would ever find on paper. He knew what happened to those who dare use espionage against this particular Queen and he was to close to attaining a bite of the royalty pie to allow some hotheaded brat take it away. However, spying was fun, and Osias had become a pro....
And tonight was no different, tonight he wandered the border atop the gates, carefully picking his way over them in his animal form, tail and head held high. However a sound came to his ears and he stopped, twitching them around like satellite's until they focused upon the source. He quickly dismissed this little figure as any sort of a threat, however his mind swiftly turned it into prey as it shriveled into an ungraceful heap of pain.
A wicked little smirk appeared upon his muzzle and he gracefully hopped from the wall, landing besides the doe and peering down at her.
Well, Well, Well, what have we here?

Mephit's senses heightened, pain was momentarily pressed to the back of her mind even without the assistance of her suit's ability. No, the pain was still there, so very very there, but there was also something else present now; something brown and disgusting and...rat-like. A scavenger...a disgusting, Lowland scavenger. Her body twitched and then twisted up to her hooves, swaying slightly in pain but full of unspoken hate as well.
"Mephitisia."
She hissed the word through clenched teeth, all but snarling in a manner that was very unusual for a simple deer. For one as young and apparently defenseless as she was, swaying in pain as she might be, there was something very akin to death in her eyes and an unspoken age tainting her soul.
Mephitisia would never be your typical child, not even your typical angst-ridden adolescent.
"I am Mephitisia," She clarified boldly, that venomous voice still hissing between pain-clenched teeth. "and you will keep your distance, Lowlander."

Osias was ever spurred on by the loathing and disapproval of others, it was almost like a drug or some ecstacitic dream, simply put he got a kick out of it. He had, also, come to the realization that this quality, as well as fear, in children had other little side effects as well. It also helped that he didn't really have any qualms with the region she appeared to be from.
As she got up and became a little form filled and brimming with a quite a bit of feistiness his grin broadened and he left his charm levels low as he really didn't wish to soothe the little doe, in fact he'd rather egg her on.
That whip like tail of his shifted and he cocked his head a bit, tasking at her.
Well my dear, haven't you any manners? And what might a little one such as you be doing out so late and... alone?

"I could direct the same question back to you."
Mephitisia narrowed her eyes wickedly, but held her cold poise as he continued to eye her. The little doe hated the way she looked at him and, honestly, hated looking at him in return. It left her scowling and all but snarling, even though part of that snarling was coming from her own teeth breaking through her gums. Such an obnoxious feeling, the fire burning through her aching jaw. It left her growling in quiet frustration even while she wasn't speaking.
Luckily, though, her fury directed toward Osias's intrusion in her private agony had given her the adrenaline enough to put her pain to the back of her mind for the time being.
"My business of not your concern, but since I had enough manners to tell you my name I would appreciate hearing a name back from you, rat."
Mephitisia was definitely not the top of the line in manners. She was rude, sadistic and her voice was so cold and venomous it gave those unsuspecting of hearing such vocals from naught but a young adolescent the chills. Her eyes were no better.

Oh, she was feisty indeed and it acted in probably quite the opposite way that the little doe would have hoped. The more she spat anything but nice things at him, the more intrigued by her he became. If she kept it up it wouldn't just stay at intrigue either, to young or not he really didn't care anymore. And at her response he merely smiled at her, lifting his charm level quite suddenly, the air about him changing entirely. He hoped it might throw her off a bit.
As well as the fact that my business is really none of yours either... and forgive my rudeness my little dear, but I am Osias.
And her voice was indeed cold, but it thrilled him all the more. He had a thing for fiery women, or girls, especially if they were cold and... unwilling. He liked well, everything about her so far. In other words, she was doing a rather poor job of putting him off.

To be honest, most would've been thrown off by such a sudden change in charm but Mephitisia was unmoved. She recognized the change and there was a momentary flicker in her icy eyes but it did nothing for confusing or even soothing her. Mephitisia was not one to be charmed and the pain assaulting her head did wonders to push back the daze that his charm might encourage.
"Nasty little diamond rat!"[/color]
She spat once more, making it quite obvious that she recognized his alteration in his charm level. Mephit would not be manipulated by something as stupidly simple as some filthy rat's charm!
"I do not excuse rudeness from likes such as yourself."
With that said she snarled up at the rat, bristling with anticipation for him to draw closer.

Her words wouldn't phase him, they were just words... words uttered by a child none the less. He'd heard worse, he'd heard words that stung, the kind that, once strung together in the proper pattern, shook you to your very core... she had not the hate, nor the experience to rattle him so and he continued to grin and ooze charm... the latter mostly just to aggravate her more. Those f the female persuasion tended to not rub him in the wrong, like males did... like certain males of certain suits especially.
Her snarl only seemed to brighten him up more and instead of drawing closer, like she'd presumed he would, he began a casual circle around her. That grin never left his muzzle and disgusting yellowed fangs peeked out at her, he also held his tail up and slightly curled above his back.... he didn't wish to drag it now did he?
He did speak again, and he had an inkling that his words would aggravate her further, but he was being perfectly honest, well, in his standards.
You know... you're quite lovely when you're angry.

Mephitisia's rage was absolutely tangible.
How dare that disgusting Lowlander rodent speak to her like an equal! Let alone in a manner that might even be flirtatious! She would not allow herself to be the eye candy of strange men, especially ones as filthy as the one who stood before her now.
"Shut up!"
The little doe bared her fangs, bristling all over as she began to move in response to Osias's circling. Her steps matched his in reverse, keeping an even pace as she echoed his casual steps.
"What do you want from me, fleabag? Or is your purpose merely to waste your breath and my time?"
Mephitisia had already had enough of this conversation. She wanted out of it and away from this disgusting excuse of a Card as quickly as possible.

And that tangible rage she possessed? Absolutely delightful for the vermin! In fact, it very nearly sent a shiver of pleasure down his spine. He would, however, continue to play off of this as she made herself a target which was far to easy, and she should have realized this by now. Perhaps the little doe's temper could be quite the downfall, a major flaw? Well, if it was he'd definitely exploit it.
Tsk, tsk, such negativity! And I'm being so kind to you my little clover.
He facial expression mirrored that of a pout, or as close to it as the rat could muster. He was in no way offended, fleabag was one of the nicer things he'd been called, no, he was merely trying to gage what sorts of things would stoke that fire within her. He had to get his kicks some how, now didn't he?
He paused, tilting his head and giving her the most adorable look he could, seeing if even this little act would set her off. He had, however, noted the fangs and didn't wish to be bitten... and therefor he also prepared himself to skitter just out of her range should he need to.
(( I simply love my snarky little boy <3 ))
