Alts...

This question is probably answered somewhere on this site (i just don't have the time right now to look around for it). So I decided to ask under this forum.

When I asked Nafalitious how one goes about getting alts, or alternate/second characters/avatars, whatever you call it, he mentioned something about having to purchase or commission the character.

So, even though I know I'm new and I probably wont for abit till I find the nitch my lil mousy fits into, if or when I decide to get another character, I have to buy it? Or if not, could someone do a quick clarification of this aspect for me?

Heyla, Barrs. First up, an explanation. There's a thread for Questions on this board. *nods* So you'll need to stick questions in that thread rather than make a new thread. There's also a FAQ thread, set up by the wonderful Kari, to make it easier to look for answers for old questions.

That said, this question has been asked before. xD; Here we go!

There are multiple ways to get a second (or more!) characters! Commissioning -is- an option, but only when Nat has opened commission slots. She's still working on the last batch of commissions, so it's unlikely that they will open again anytime soon. *coughssorryagainNatcoughs*

Next, there are official board contests. The last one was to write anthems for the different Courts. In that instance, Ku-chan won a random new Card. Nat and Jenn often open contests throughout the year, so just keep your eye on the Announcements board for updates.

There are also 'unofficial' contest. These are run by other dealers who are giving out Cards for one reason or another. i was the last one to run this, actually. xD In my commissions, i also bought 14 random SDs to be given out to people on the board. That's how Nafa got Inali, actually. i also had a writing contest for the Hellhounds. So watch the General Board for dealer created contests.

There's also breedings! Yay, breedings! With the agreement of another dealer, you can mate your two Cards and get babies! This has to be one of the most fun ways to get new Cards. >3 These Cards, obviously, come as babies rather than adults, and you'll have to follow their rules in order to get them to grow.

Finally, there's the re-homing 'contest'. Occasionally-- and this is quite rare, actually, there's only been one such occurrence on the board thus far-- Nat will gather up Cards from dealers who voluntarily give them up. Usually this is because the character has not clicked with the dealer, or they just feel overwhelmed by the number of Cards they have. Nat will then present sign-ups so anyone who wants to try for them, can.
