At the lad's short bark, Seth couldn't help but chuckle, nuzzling his snout against Heilyn's cheek and smiling widely. "Well, he seems to approve at least...[/b]" the man commented, reaching a hand down and scratching the boy behind one oversized ear in response to the bark-like noise. He felt like a little boy on his birthday. He couldn't help but be excited - there was so much potential in the wriggling little bodies! They were fairly clumsy now, but he knew that grace would eventually come to them.
He glanced at his own rear, his fluffy and short tail twitching in response. "There's nothin' wrong with it,[/b]" he said, tone defensive but a grin crossing his face in response. The mix of her large ears and tiny little bat tail on her normally-proportioned canine body... It was adorable.
His gaze fell on the last child to gain a name, the firstborn of this litter, expression thoughtful. "I have no fucking idea,[/b]" he laughed, hiding his face against Heilyn's shoulder. "Why not name her something in the Bog tradition? She's got that white coat, after all... Isn't that something special?[/b]" He'd made an attempt to read up on Heilyn's home, but words didn't stick as well in the man's mind as he'd like to believe they did.
~~~
"Of course I would,[/b]" the man replied as he slid into the bed beside her. He wasn't able to finish his thought as she kissed him, but he was okay with being quieted by that sort of distraction. She seemed to be doing... quite a bit better now that the children were on the outside. He was very glad for that. It would be nice to get back to the fiesty Heilyn he had come to love more than he could express.
The man snuggled in a little closer, nodding his approval at the presented name. "Rhiannon and Hadrian,[/b]" he ecchoed, wrapping one arm around Heilyn in such a way that it gave the children some extra support, grinning at the already-rambunctous Hadrian and resisting the urge to snort as Rhiannon attempted to crawl further up her mother's belly, barely able to hold up her own head.
"And my Heilyn.[/b]" he finished, kissing the woman's forehead and gently stroking her hair, giving her a genuinely delighted smile. "My family...[/b]"[/i]
"Of course there's not. It's beautiful," she smiled, reaching her hand around and grabbing in the general area of his tail. She laughed with him.
"It is, we love our albinos... if she ever moved there, her white fur and these little glowing things would make her very highly desired... I just, can't think of anything... What about that friend you mentioned a while back? Her name meant something like light or something? I remember liking the sound of it... but can't remember what it was..."
He was so wonderful. He made her so happy... She lighted up her head and kissed him on the cheek.
"I love you." she nuzzled his face with her nose.
----------------
She leaned into the kiss. "My Seth," she echoed him. They were... a family. It made her happier than she could express. She smiled at the girl - Rhiannon now - trying to crawl up Heilyn's still-expanded belly. She shifted and brought them both up closer to her face.
"Our family..." she whispered, almost in disbelief.
Seth's ears flicked back thoughtfully as he tried to remember. It had been a long time since he had seen the friend she was speaking of. He wouldn't mention the fact that the woman had been much, much more than a simple friend to the Bat, that just wasn't relevant. If Heilyn had liked the sound of her name... He'd go with it. If he could remember what it was. The last time he'd even thought about her had been when he'd mentioned the meaning of her name to Lyn. "Sorcha,[/b]" he finally said, blinking. "The name was Sorcha.[/b]"
The girl had absolutely no reaction to what would soon become her name, for she had fallen asleep all twisted 'round in her mother's shirt, nose wiggling slightly. Seth grinned down at her and her siblings, his eyes partially closed. It was an extremely soft expression, one that might even surprise Heilyn.
When she kissed his cheek, he shifted back to human form and turned to catch her lips in a kiss, not closing his eyes and lingering close when he broke away. "Lyn,[/b]" he said softly, reaching into his pocket and then taking her hands into his own. He was trembling softly, and his face turned downward to look at his hands. "I... Uh. I love you.[/b]" Slowly, he pulled one of her hands down, placing something into the palm and closing her fingers tightly around it.
Red eyes bright with nerves were lifted to the woman's face, the man's expression a rather curious one, giddy and hopeful and terrified all at the same time. "I... That is to say, um...[/b]" he swallowed hard. The words that followed were extremely quiet, almost a whisper, clearly intended for no one in the room but Seth and the woman he loved. "Will you... marry me?[/b]"
In her hand, she would find a ring. It was not large and had a relatively simple design - a thin band that rose up in two spirals in silver that met in the center, a small and shining fire agate set between them in the shape of a spade.
Heilyn beamed as the kids began falling asleep. Tegan yawned and zonked out where she lay. She was more than happy with it, she needed some sleep herself. When the looked up at Seth, she could almost feel her heart melt. That expression as he looked at their children... it filled her with warmth. She suddenly yawned.
"We should probably put these guys somewhere where I'm not gonna sleep..." she certainly wouldn't want them to be accidentally crushed... She looked up at Seth oddly. He had told her many times before those words... but never so awkwardly. What was...? He put something in her hand, it was small, made of some sort of hard material, but it was warm from being in his pocket. What...?
Her eyes went wide at the question. Marriage? It was something she gave very little consideration to. Their relationship was perfect with or without the titles of Husband and Wife... It really must meaning something big if he even bothered to ask... She knew nothing about their relationship would change. It would remain the same as it ever was: Everything she could have hoped for. Why not make it official. She opened her hand to find the ring. It was a beautiful piece. Stone itself... the shape of the Spade kept somewhat ambiguous by the warm, red tones of the agate.
"Yes... Seth... Yes I will," she answered in the same tone as Seth posed the question, almost as if speaking any louder would destroy... something she couldn't place... she ran a finger across his cheek. She presented the ring back to him and extended the hand to him to put the ring on.
[...besides, there's something about marrying a Spade with which she had two Club children with in the Court of Hearts that just tickles her pink. XD ]
(hah! Oh Lyn, you're so terrible. <333)
As she considered the ring, Seth stared up at her with eyes that would better suit a deer trapped on one of Corvistowne's many roads. He bit his lower lip slightly as he waited for her reply, body language showing anxiety but also a massive amount of hope. The way she was looking at the ring told him that she liked it, but was it enough? Suddenly, he felt himself begin to doubt his desision. Was the spade-shape of it too much? Had she been staring at the agates because she thought them hideous? It was much easier, after all, for him to worry about things like that than the alternative - that she didn't see him as husband material.
He let out a soft cry when she responded in the affirmative, wrapping his arms tightly around her and holding her close, lightly rocking her too and fro as he kissed her again and again, his smile wider and happier than ever before. His words came as almost an afterthought and were accompanied by an almost sheepish smile. "Oh, good.[/b]" At least only the maskmaker had been in the room to see his loss of control... and the children, but they were too young to understand.
He sat back again, still smiling widely at Heilyn and holding her hand. "I mean, it doesn't have to be right away, you know? We'll need to tell your father, and I... I should try and get in contact with my mother, too.[/b]" That would be fun times, for sure.
Heilyn had to admit, she was quite surprised when the man grabbed her and touched her in this way. She held one of his muscular arms at bay. "Be careful for the children..." she whispered to him and put them down and away from between them as carefully as she could then hold Seth back. She watched him out of the corner of her eye, taking an incredible amount of pleasure in the joy he showed. She then closed her eyes and rested her head against his neck as he spoke. Behind his back, she extended her hand and admired the way it looked on her hand. She liked the way the silver and veiny reddish stone popped out against her black glove.
The mask maker simply cocked his head as he watched them. He watched all the gestures between the two and decided that he should do his work elsewhere. He put back what he took out and left to go work elsewhere.
Heilyn nodded at Seth. "You be careful with that bitch of a mother of yours. I'd love to meet her so I can give her what she deserves for everything she's done to you, then as she lies on the floor bleeding, I'd like to thank her for making it possible to have met you," she smirked, then sighed, "However, me sending even so much as a note to my father about this, he will demand to see me to discuss him and his family adopting a foreigner," she smiled weakly, her volume decreasing and avoiding the colorful language her father usually used when referring to Seth. Damn, I'm tired... she thought as she yawned then smiled and looked at him, touching him with the back of her fingers.
"Oh,[/b]" Seth said, sounding somewhat awkward as he shifted his bulk again, grinning down at the sleeping bundles of his children. It took a conscious effort to keep from touching them. Sure, he could probably pet their sweet little heads without trouble, but he didn't want to risk waking them up. This might be one of the last quiet moments he would get with Heilyn for a long time... "I'd forgotten how tiny they were.[/b]" he chuckled.
His body settled against hers as she admired the ring, and he admired her as she did so, gently tracing his fingers across the curve of her hip and still-swollen belly. He let out a quiet and happy sigh. Even discussions of his mother couldn't ruin this moment for him... Besides, he was a Queen now. He had faith that when he finally managed to track her down, he'd have no issues putting her in her place like she had done to him so many times before.
However, when Heilyn spoke of a return to the Bog, his ears twitched slightly and he glanced up at her. "No way around another trip there, eh?[/b]" he said softly, a strange look crossing his face. He'd hated that trip. It had been nice since he'd been with Heilyn, but it was very difficult spending all of his time in that mask. Having his mowhawk pulled at hadn't exactly helped the situation, either... But if Heilyn needed him to go with her, he would go.
Her fingers traced over his hand as he touched her affectionately. He just made her melt, and she loved it. She smiled softly, twirling a bit of hair on his jaw in her finger. She then took off her gloves, putting her ring back on afterwards, and touched him with bare hands. His fur felt incredible. So thick and plush.
"I'm afraid so. This is very much a first for anyone from my region - getting married to a 'foreigner', so the psychotic Wolverine you met will also have questions. And with her being my Queen in a way, her demand for my coming back home for a visit will be unavoidable. She adores you, but she will definitely want to prod me a bit in person about the whole situation and work out some political thing about how marrying a non-Boggie will work with our current marital laws." She spoke much softer than her usual tone as she touched his face. Eventually her hands came to rest on her stomach. She'd gotten used to the feeling of her stomach getting so big over the past few months.
"Seth? if you could be so kind as to put the kids in the basket over there to sleep? I want you next to me..." she patted an empty spot of bed next to her. She wanted to sleep. She was exhausted, but in no way wanted to put the children in any form of potential danger. She touched and admired the ring as he did as she asked.
"I was thinking of taking Rhi to the Bog," she said suddenly.
Seth let out a quiet sigh as she spoke. The whole thing mystified him, if he was going to be completely honest with both her and himself. The pair had been together for a damnably long time, and they'd had five perfectly healthy and wonderful children together. As excited as he was to be getting married to her at long last, he didn't quite get why it was such a big deal. After all, it wasn't as if their relationship was going to change rather abruptly, would it?
Would it? The thought almost made the man panic, and he found himself hugging Heilyn a little tighter. He didn't want it to change. It was perfect as it was.
When she called his name, the bat raised his head to look at her, eyebrows smoothing over quickly so as not to betray his emotional turmoil. "Ah, of course.[/b]" he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on her cheek, then carefully gathered the sleeping bundles of his children together, placing them into the basket as carefully as he possibly could to avoid waking them. He smiled down at them, then turned back to Heilyn at her next rather... surprising comment.
"Really?[/b]" he asked as he slid back into the space beside her, wrapping his arms around her and resting his head on her shoulder. His nose twitched, brushing against her chin as it moved. "We should have a long engagement, I think. Until the kids are old enough to be without you... and maybe old enough that you can bring Sorcha, too?[/b]" It was a strange thought, but as long as she was thinking about inviting Rhiannon along as well it wasn't completely out of the question.
The girl newly dubbed as 'Tegan' wiggled in annoyance as she was moved, but then quickly went back to sleep as soon as she was put down, cuddling up to her siblings for the warmth. Heilyn, herself, happily cuddled up to the man-shaped pile of fur that climbed into bed with her. He was so warm, and all that fur felt amazing against her skin. She felt a little too weak to take of her clothing, so only her face and arms could enjoy the feeling.
"I'm serious. I think it would be a good idea to take her to see the region she inherited," she replied, reaching up and giving his mohawk a tug, "You should consider taking Hadrian for a trip to the Glacier, yourself," she teased, but still partially serious. "You don't have to come to the Bog if you don't want to. I know the last trip was fairly miserable for you... and, well, Queen Poppy seems very excited to see you again, as she asked about you specifically in her last letter, which only spells trouble," she sighed. That woman was more trouble than she was worth. She paused, blinking.
"Taking Sorcha... would be an amazing idea... Seeing her might actually make my father hate you a little less. Might. I am making no guarantees."
