Cute and adorable were hir defense mechanisms, and had been so for all of hir life; for the most part, they worked, to the point where even Cerevanna liked hir, as much as that woman liked anyone. Though there were rumors that she was sighing over...someone, from somewhere, but Iria hadn't yet found out who, or from where. Shi might have told others that it didn't really concern her, but if something was emotionally affecting The Queen of Diamonds, then it had to be at least somewhat important, yes? But that was neither here nor there, and shi dismissed the thought from hir mind.
However, hir joy at being given approval wasn't entirely feigned - shi knew just how much influence a parent could have on their child's life, even if Ceren was rather independant from the whole "family" thing at times. Having the approval of her father went quite a way to ensuring that there would be no conflict between them, especially as he was a fellow Queen.
"Oh, thank you!"[/color] shi practically gushed, before stopping for a few seconds and pulling herself together once again. Young and so very much in love. "I would never do anything to hurt her. She is my dear one,"[/color] shi added, blush increasing slightly. Well played.

"Then we should have no trouble getting along, I hope," Theofilus said with a smile. He was still wasn't sure about this whole ordeal. Ceren had made up her mind though, and it's not like Theofilus could change her mind once a goal was in sight. She had a long road ahead of her but she was positive that she wanted to be with Queen Iria.
He couldn't argue that Iria would be a suitable partner for Ceren. She was a Queen, she had been in courts for a while, she was the apple of his daughter's eye. Why was he even here drinking tea with her if it was so very obvious that they were getting together one way or another.
"I'm curious though, what would you have done if I hadn't given you my approval?" Theofilus asked as he sipped his tea. He had to wonder what she would say about that. He knew full well what Ceren would have done, but not Iria in the slightest.

Oh, he was smart, or at least smart enough to see that this meeting between them truly wasn't more than a mere formality. After all, shi was the one who had been established at the Court for a good long while, and though neither of them officially held power over the other, there was also the fact that any dispute between the two of them wouldn't really go anywhere fast. So even if he had disapproved of the relationship, there wouldn't have been all that much that he could have done about anything. There was no need to haul that out into the open for him, though; shi imagined that he knew perfectly well all of the various implications.
"Oh...I would have done what I could have to gain your approval. I know that it doesn't have quite as much bearing, with the ranks involved. But still, it's always best to have cohesion amongst a family, don't you think?"[/color] shi said quietly, dropping hir eyes down to hir tea cup, peering into the liquid as if it posessed all of the secrets of history. Then, almost as if it were an afterthought, shi took another sip.

"Yes, Yes it is." Theofilus said before taking a sip of tea. He still wasn't sure about his daughter's choice in women. But that wasn't for him to decide ultimately. There wasn't much else he could say in this situation. It was just a very awkward silence that filled the room.
It would be useful if he had something to say. Ceren had obviously made her decision to pursue Iria, Theofilus had given his unneeded two cents, and everything seemed to be ready to go. "I wish you the best of luck. I'll be taking my leave," Theofilus smiled. He set his partial finished tea down. As good as it was, he wasn't going to finish it in such an awkward silence. "Thank you for your hospitality." He stood up, gave a bow to Iria and made his way to the door. Let's see how this would turn out.

"Of course,"[/color] shi said softly, standing up as he did and curtseying in return to his bow. While shi did not exactly escort him to the door, shi did accompany him to it - not forcing him out, but following his lead for the time being, serene smile re-taking its place upon hir lips. "Again, thank you for indulging me with your time. I'm so glad that all of this is going to work out. I hope we might be able to speak again in the future?"[/color] Shi left that up to him to decide; if there was need, then shi would be perfectly amenable to such a thing. If there was no pressing business, then he was always welcome to come and join hir for a cup of tea or two, though shi had the feeling that such a thing wouldn't happen all that often, if at all.
But still, shi'd secured cohesion between the two of them, and settled their relationship with each other over the one point that might have brought about friction between the two Queens. Hir position was made safe once more, especially considering the fact that it was quite possible that he was more ambitious than shi, and might take a try at becoming The Queen of Diamonds. Shi had contemplated it initially hirself, but shi was still perfectly content with hir current rank.
"Have a wonderful afternoon, your Majesty," shi murmured in parting, genteel smile seeing him off.
