Isolde bristled slightly at the other man's words. She had not counted on seeming like a brown-noser. Hmm. She just wanted to learn what she needed to do to join the ranks in the Courts.
"Your Highness" she said a bit more seriously. "Being that I am only after a sort of internship and not an actual role in the courts, I would say my abilities as of right now aren't entirely to par. However, I know I have the potential to grow into something quite worthy of being in your court at a later date.
It would be foolish and ignorant of me to say I know everything right now and I apologize if you feel I am just rubbing your ego. I am not the type though and I would never say something that I did not mean. I do feel that I am useful to you, I plan to study and boost up my lie detector ability and perhaps in the future I will be proficient in extracting information which I feel is something the Court could use to their advantage.
However for now, I am only interested in learning and perhaps when I feel I am ready, I will come back and apply for a title position. I seek you out rather than one of your Kings because I think if I were to learn from anyone, you would be the best person. And please believe me when I say, I am not being disingenuous... I really do feel this way" she breathed in.
"Bottom line: I want to offer my abilities to you and promise that I would boost them to something amazing and I would work hard without question and diligently so."

"It's "Your Majesty," to begin with." Theofilus started as he looked at the girl with a enigmatic expression. The man behind him shifted uncomfortable at the change of tone. Obviously he had no problems getting down to business.
"You have goals, but I haven't the slightest idea if you have the ability to achieve any of them. You are a random stranger on the street to me. Even if you were family I wouldn't make a single assumption about your abilities." He laced his fingers together and turned to the man besides him. "What do you think my job was before I got here, Mr. Ture?"
"An accountant, sir."
Theofilus turned back to Isolde. "I started at the bottom. Before I even touched courts and they were merely a dream I was a self taught young man who lived in the Lakes. From there I worked under various people to attain my goals, one by one. If I had started at the top... I wouldn't try as nearly hard as I do now. So, Miss Isolde, what makes you want to skip all the steps and start at the top? To get the best you need to earn it."
He rearranged the papers for a moment. "The Courts, my young lady, are filled with backstabbing heartless individuals. It's not as nice as in those fanciful bedtimes stories. But I'm not going to lecture a grown woman anymore. You want to work in the courts so badly I'll give you an apprenticeship. However it won't be under me."
The man's face changed slightly. He really couldn't stay stern for long periods of time. "What exactly are you skilled at? I want to place you properly if you choose to accept an apprenticeship."

Isolde understood the mistake she had made and quickly corrected. "Yes sir, Your Majesty" she bowed.
"I fully understand that I need to start from the bottom and work my way up and I have no problems with doing that. I had not wanted to skip past everyone who had worked so hard to get where they were. I simply came to see where i needed to start from.
I am a hard worker in everything I do and I never do things sloppily. As far as my work experience goes, I am an accomplished pastry chef as long as other desert related items.
Also, I have accounting and desk work experience; my father owns a stone mason business and I help out with the appointments and bookkeeping from time to time. Not to mention I am currently in the care of a friends delivery service making sure everything runs smoothly. I have a good head for business and if you are in need of someone in either venture, I would not let you down" she finished her thoughts and took a sip, hopefully he would see her capable.

"Jack of all trades, master of none," He said with a raised eyebrow. At her age there was no way she was a master of anything. Good, yes, but master, not happening. Even if she had an education in Esterberry she was far too young to have the skills any master would have from experience. She thought very highly of herself--didn't she?
"Then you wouldn't mind being a secretary?" He asked looking down at his papers. "We have no cooks taking apprenticeships, we have very good accountants and plenty of them, and.... I will be the one to ultimately decide if you have a good head for business, dear."
Cream raised an eyebrow in the background. Apparently the Queen was a bit more snippy than he had originally thought. Once offended always offended, eh? He had to remember never to slip up in front of the Queen.
"I take my job seriously, and everyone around here does the same. You're entirely too young to have the experience most of the people have here. However, I'm sure you can deal with taking memos for the head chief and all of his staff." The man took a long sip of his tea before turning to the other man in the room. "If you could Mr. Ture find Miss Pel for me?"
The man nodded and exited the room.
The office filled with silence as the Queen stared at the girl in front of him. He honestly didn't want to come off a drama queen. Then again, who in the Court wasn't? "I don't mean to come off as snippy. You just have to be careful of your word choices in the Court of Politics. One missed word could be classified as a grave insult. And I wouldn't want you to lose a limb because you happened to insult the wrong diamond."

"Mind? Not at all. I realize I must start from the bottom to make something of myself and I have no problem with it" she sighed a breath of relief now as this Mr. Ture gentleman left to find Miss Pel.
"I understand Your Majesty and I do realize my error. You can believe me when I say it won't happen again. I may not know all of the rules but I'm smart enough to correct myself when I make a mistake. I appreciate what you are doing and I only hope that I ever get the chance to repay you for your generosity."
She decided to stop there and wait for Mr. Ture and Miss Pel to come back before she rattled on into a tangent. That was a really bad habit of hers. Last thing she needed to do was say something terrible to the Queen of Diamonds and have him take insult.

Theofilus was partly grateful for the silence. He took a long sip of his tea, musing at the thought of what Her Highness Mnem would do to the girl. He probably should warn her about the wing not to venture into. There may not have been man eating plants (that he knew of) but some of those things were pretty dangerous.
He could try to converse with her. In all honesty he wasn't in the mood for such a thing. Miss Pel would probably talk her ear off anyway. The sparrow's eyes drifted to the door as it slowly opened, revealing a rather pudgy looking canine. The canine gave a small bow to Theofilus before gliding forward.
"Hello!" she said cheerfully while Isolde's back was turned. The Morganberry smirked, and proceeded to invade the girl's personal space. "You're an interesting one? Ture told me that you're gonna be the new secretary for his department. Hope you like workin' with all men."
She looked back to the Queen, a toothy grin gracing her roundish face. "Thank you, Your Majesty. This'll help with all the paperwork we've been getting!"
"Have fun, Miss Pel, Miss Isolde." Theofilus said with a small smile.

The silence wasn't terrible to her, in fact it was rather nice sometimes. She was just getting comfortable with it when she heard a "Hello!" and jumped a little at the voice behind her.
"Hi!" she turned and echoed back. "All men? Well I think I can hold my own" she smiled genuinely. This was an odd woman and most would hate having their space invaded but really Isolde didn't mind it. She was normally the one to do that other people but it was interesting to have the tables turned.
She turned quickly back to the Queen. "Yes thank you, Your Majesty. I will not fail either of you" she said with as much enthusiasm as she could muster.
"It has been an honor to meet you, Your Majesty but I think it is time I were going. Have a most enjoyable day." She waited for Miss Pel to say something, in case she wanted her to do something at the moment.

"You have a nice day, Miss Isolde. I do hope you and Miss Pel get along, if you have any intention of staying in the courts for long, one day you might end up her senior." He said with a small smile before looking down at his paperwork.
Paperwork. It was a never ending cycle.
Miss Pel clapped her hands. "Thank you your Majesty! Miss Isolde and I are going to have quite a bit of fun. Now, young lady let's get going, shall we? You have a lot to learn with no learning curve. The boys need things to be done and only have me to do it." She quickly exited the room expecting the young woman to follow.
And the woman rattled off the responsibilities as Ture exited the room shortly after the pair of them had. "You see, Dear, you have to file all the paper work, know all of the "unmarked" guards names and responsibilities, you have to memorize their schedules, you have to direct new hires where to go and who to see, and most of all you have to be happy and cheerful while doing all of your responsibilities. It's a very important job despite the title."
And she continued to rant. On and on only taking few breaths.
((OOC: And, would you like to end this soon?))
