She was lost . . . again. She had a book and notebook clutched in her arms to her chest, a pencil tucked behind one of her ears. Wandering lost around the mesmerizing garden she took in the tall fountains with wide eyes. A few days ago a skunk who had given her name as Kel had mentioned the palace having a larger library which probably needed a librarian or two more, so she had finally decided, and gathered up the courage, to check it out. It was apparently becoming something that she was growing to currently regret. It was not suppose to be this hard, she thought as she gave a frustrated sigh. It was suppose to have been something that was simple. Taking a seat on one of the stone benches she opened her book to where she had last been reading, placing the notebook on the space besides her.

Theofilus rolled his eyes at the very thought of taking a break. He was still carrying papers that he had to look through. Papers that he didn't even know the subject matter on. He shifted the papers as he walked to look at the book that he had brought with him. At least he could take breaks and read something that wasn't utterly dry and filled with legal speak. Negotiating borders was all well and good, but he liked to read every so often about something absolutely crazy. Who could wrong him. He rounded the corner to see that his favorite bench by fountain was taken. The man stood there for a moment or two to take in the image of a mouse from... Esterberry? It was someone that he had never seen before no matter the region she came from. Maybe he would have more than a book break this lovely day then? "Excuse me, Miss," Theofilus said cheerily as he approached the bench, "You seem a bit troubled. Maybe if you let me take a seat next to you I can help you out."

She gave a squeak of surprise when someone disturbed the trance she had created as she had gotten interested in her book once again. Glancing up her eyes fell on someone who was in their human form. Unaware of whom it might be that now stood before her, she gave a muted nod of her head.
Trying to close the book that she had been reading while gathering up her notebook to make room for the male she managed to cause both of them to tumble to the ground. “I – I – I am so sorry. Please ha-have a seat.” She replied as she tried to gather up her books.
Gathering her books back up, she sat back down next to him. She hung her head a blush threatening to show through her fur. It was not that she was attracted to the man in any way, per say, but being around people tended to make her very nervous, at least till she had talked to them for a while.

He raised an eyebrow at the poor girl. Theofilus would have helped her with her books if she wasn't so quick to dive after them. He covered his smile as he went about settling. He set his books besides him and propped his cane against the back of the bench. Why not get comfortable when you were planning to stay for a while?
"No need to apologize, dear. I haven't seen you around here before. I hope you don't think it's rude of me to ask, but what brings you to these gardens?" Theofilus smiled. She seemed to be a cute young woman even if she was nervous.
Without waiting for a response he picked up his book and set it on his lap, fingering through the pages. She seemed to be the type to like those sort of things, she was carrying a book after all. "Though we both probably should have started this conversation with our names," he muttered quietly as he looked at her from the corner of his eye.

She only peeled slightly at him as he settled down besides her on the bench. She was still nervous and his sudden closeness only seemed to make it worse. Trying not to how it, besides for the fact that her head was still down, she answered his questions. “My name, I – I am so sorry. I – Idril, sir. I work in the C- Capital and was informed by someone I me-met that I might be able to find a similar one he-here that I might like here.”
She silently yelled at herself over her stuttering. It was something that she never seemed to have control over and talking to stranger only seemed to make it worse. It was probably one of the reasons that she liked to spend most of her time along with her books, reading and researching.
Glancing up at quickly him to see what his reaction to her replies had been, she noticed that he had opened a book as well. Reacting on instict she could not help peeking over to see more closely what it was. Just the fact that he had the book allowed her to relax some. After all, people who liked books could not be all that bad.

Did this woman even know that he was a Queen?
"Well, Miss Idril, even though you didn't tell me exactly why you're here, I'm going to assume you're here for a job. My name is Theofilus. Since you seem to like books I imagine that's what you're here for?" He tilted his head curiously. She was quite a shy woman it seemed.
She didn't seem to fit the Esterberry stereotype at least. That was something that Theofilus could honestly appreciate. He looked lifted up his book to show it to her. Maybe talking about something else would stop her from stuttering. For the life of him Theofilus could never understood why some people were so terrified of others socially. "Have you read this? This is my third time through and I still haven't caught all of the proper plot twists. I would move on to the next book, but I can't find anything but the third in the series."

She was looking at him now, though she still kept her eyes diverted slightly. “Yes. I – I came here seeking a job as one of the librarians and well . . . well . . . I sort of got lost so I en-de-ded up taking a break here.” Now that she had realized he was probably a book lover as well her tone relaxed, her stuttering almost disappearing.
She gasped slightly when he said his name. “You mean . . . your the Theofilus? Oh, no. I – It is a pleasure to meet you your Majesty, please forgive me for not recognizing you before. She gave a small bow over her books afraid that she might have made him angry. She was after all a lowly seven and though his tone might not have been that of anger one could never tell when those of higher ranks would feel offended over such a slight.
Seeing the title more fully she gave him a brilliant smile. “I have read that one, yes. It was a while back though, I am sad to say, so I would probably have to re-read it to refresh my memory on all that went on. . . . It took me years to find the next one and I had to pay a high price for it . . . I suppose I could lend it to you if you wanted.” She was slightly shocked when she realized her stutter had disappeared, as it often did when she got to talking about books. It had been a while since she had met anyone who was a honest book reader.

"That's quite all right, Miss Idril." Theofilus refrained from snorting out of amusement from being referred to as "the" anything. He was half tempted to tell her he was merely "a" Theofilus. He didn't though, no point in ruining the girl's enthusiasm now that she had stopped stuttering. Books were amazing things. Apparently she was an Esterberry with a goal.
"I would absolutely love to borrow it, and in return shall we take a walk to the library?" He smiled. Well then, it looked like they were getting a new librarian. She seemed more than capable even if she was a little shy. She'd have to get over that quickly though, there were far to many impatience people who wanted books.
The man stood up and gathered his paraphernalia. "If you need any help carrying your books, I'm more than willing to, and just so you know I didn't mean to scare you before. You actually caught me quite off guard. Not many people come to this specific part of the garden."

She gave him a smile. “That, that is very kind of you.” She said as she got off the bench with a hop. She handed him the book that she had been reading and after a moment of hesitation the notebook as well.
“Thank you for the ki -kind offer to show me to the library. I do not think I would ever find it with how bi -big this place is. I left the book at home but I will be sure to bring it by for you tomorrow, if that is okay.”
She was very interested in seeing just how big this library was. She was sure that it was bigger then the one in the Capital. Wondering just how many different books and of which kind they were, she followed along where Theofilus led. “Is there a reason many do not come here, to this garden?” she asked a little afraid that she had managed to wander somewhere she was not suppose to.

Theofilus grinned, "No reason really. I suppose they just have a better place to be then here. Either way, this is just the place I usually end up reading in. Nice and quiet you see."
The walk to the library wasn't very far. Not far for the palace standards, anyway. It only took a flight of stairs and a few hallway turns to get to the proper destination. Theofilus opened the door, allowing the mouse to walk through first. The library was indeed large, and covered quite a bit of ground. Three levels and the majority of the floor that they were on. "This is the main library, we have a smaller one... somewhere. And there are people with extensive collections that loan out a few. So, would you be willing to work here and help the other two librarians and their handful of assistants out?" Theofilus asked nonchalantly as he walked over to one of the counters, tapping on a bell that was there.
