He took a long moment and just watched crow, judging and weighing his options. As he did this he was completely oblivious to the sudden mutterings and mental change in the owl, which was pretty close to being completely out of his line of sight.
“And just how much is it that you are asking for someone to take your assistant off your hands?”
He was not planning on making any steps in either direction just yet. He was still not quite sure what he was getting himself into here. Though he did figure that if he “purchased” the lad then he could get him away from this . . . fine creature and find him a better home or whatever it was that would suit the lad more,
He was well aware of what it was like to belong to a family that should not be called one even in name.

The fact that this mouse was even asking after a price gave the old bird hope. His nephew might be off his hands even sooner than he'd dared hope! That would make this day just excellent. He could set about purging any remnant of the disturbed youth from his home, making it solely his once again until he found another willing or unwilling assistant. Perfect.
"Considering the going rates for laborers, I would accept one week's worth of pay for such a job as your assistant in exchange for his lifetime services. Surely that can't be a bad deal, and when you consider that you'll have him working for you much longer than a week, I think you'll agree that it's actually quite a thrifty bargain."

After a few minutes of simply staring at Aderlass and trying not to stare at his uncle, who was possibly more filthy than he, the owl realised that he wasn't feeling well. It wasn't nausea, it wasn't a headache, and it wasn't some other side effect that his uncle's 'medicine' often created, but something else entirely. A little too late, he came to the conclusion that he was about to faint.
Pascha remained where he was, tuning in and out of the conversation as his conciousness began to fade. Why it was fading he had no idea; his 'spells' tended to leave him weak, yes, but not to the point of passing out. Here he was, though, with his vision clouding, his limbs going numb and all he could really hear was the faint 'tick, tock' of his watch underneath his wing. And was that a piece of cheese he could very faintly feel? Perhaps, but it was just.. too.. late...
The owl slumped over, eyes still open, but very blank. It was clear that if anyone intended to move him soon, it would have to be done with manual labor. Thankfully, he was a small owl..

He was judging the worth of such a payment in gaining the small owl, when a sudden soft thud from behind him distracted his attention. Turning to see behind him, he saw that the owl that had run off with the small pieces of cheese into the corner was now lying on his side, from all appearances dead. Concern over the creature foremost on his mind, he rushed over to the owl.
Checking to make sure that the owl was still alive he gave a sigh of relief when he saw that the creature was still breathing. He was not sure what had caused the owl to faint but the fact that the creature had made him more then concerned.
“Help me get him upstairs to the bedrooms and we have a deal.” He said to the crow. The owls fainting had made up his mind; there was no way he could let this creature leave with the man, not after such a display.

The man couldn't help but fluff his feathers a little in satisfaction. It seemed that the boy's occasional fainting spells finally worked to his advantage! He never would have thought. It apparently inspired some sort of pity in the mouse, which was just fine to him. The more sympathetic he was, the more likely he was to pay for the boy!
He stalked over and hefted Pascha's legs, trusting the mouse to get the other side, and took him where the shop's proprietor directed. "A very good deal indeed, yes," he murmured, more to himself than anything. As soon as Aderlass paid him, he would be out the door and on his way back to his home in Corvistowne. He wasn't going to stay in the Capital any longer than he needed to, not when the hunt for a new assistant would be underway.
((I think this is his last post. <3 He's leaving as soon as he's paid. If you want another one out of him, poke me via PM because I'm taking the thread out of my bookmarks of to-reply-for.))

He took the head and shoulders and led the way towards one of the empty bedrooms above stairs.
After they had placed the bird on the bed, in a somewhat comfortable position, he led the way back downstairs to give the crow his coins for the purchase. Man that was such a strange thing to say and think. He had purchased a person.
Well it was not really purchasing the person that he was involved in, but rather he just paid the crow money to get the bird away from him.
“Here you go.” He told the crow as he handed the man the money. He was really looking forward to the crow being gone . . . something about him just did not seem all nice. After he had watched the crow leave as quickly as it was polite he made his way back upstairs.
Looking over the small form of the owl, he had gently closed the creature’s eyes – the fact that he had fainted with them open slightly disturbed him – he wondered what it was he had just gotten himself into.
