Lenore sat motionless, by the tree, as she had done for so long now she couldn't remember the last time she was unshackled. A day ago she had done it herself, only to reattach the lock and continue to wait for Wulfram's return. She wondered without an expression on her features if he would realize she had undone the locks herself, if she had somehow ruined the lock. She hoped not. She didn't really know how he would react to that knowledge. Would he be happy that she stayed? Would he hit her for thinking she could so easily leave his side? He had hit her once, and only once...for a reason she no longer knew, but since then she lived in fear of it happening again. If it happened once, it could most certainly happen again. She sat in her human form, feet touching the tree and her arms wrapped around her knees, holding them tenderly, and she held them against her chest. Her chin rested atop her knees. Her purple eyes showed no expression, except maybe that she looked tired, and possibly bored...or lonly. Nothing else seemed to show on her features as she waited paitently for Wulfram to return. She tried to remember how many days it had been....4...5...6...maybe a week? Her heart just simply ached. She just wanted to be by his side...even if that ment watching him be with someone else. She didn't want to be alone anymore, discarded like a forgotten toy... She had been his favorite once.

Despite all the cruel things he forced her to endure, she would be his favorite now and forever. Wulfram had been watching her for some time now, slumped against a distant tree in his bipedal form as he admired the broken beauty. He had returned once before and she had not known it, and he had watched her unbind herself. That image remained burnt into his mind, the good and the bad of it. She had freed herself for a moment...and then she had returned to the tree and bound herself once more. In a silent fury he had not shown himself and had refrained from bringing her a meal that day. That same fury had later dwindled into fear and paranoia, but he had not returned the day after either. Now, however, he could stay away no longer. His Lenore... He could not stay away forever no matter how hard he tried. For no matter what other women shared his bed, none of them compared in the end. None of them made him feel the way she did and none of them could ever make his heart ache the way it did now. Slowly he stepped forward, spread his wings and dropped from the tree. The wind caught his wings and carried him in a flawless glide until he stood before her and only then did he shift into his human form. Those intense red eyes focused down upon her, sharp and haunting and -in a way that Lenore alone was likely to discover- haunted. She had nearly left, and he...he had nearly lost her. "Lenore." He reached out, cupped her chin in his hand, and lifted her gaze to his. There was something sinister in his voice and yet it held another secret for Lenore's ears: insecurity this time. "Dell me, haf you missed me?"

Waiting was so hard after so long. She knew that was what she had to do, but nonetheless, it was difficult. As the minutes ticked past, it was as if a knife steadily found it's place within her heart, slowly being engulfed in the beating muscle. She began to wonder if she would die here. Would he ever come back?
Before even a moment passed after that bleek thought, Wulfram decended from the trees, the moonlight playing against his equally white feathers so that they shimmered like liquid silver as he did so. She stood so quickly, startled and excited by his return that she promptly fell with a grunt on the ground, her knees and arms thudding down hard. She hissed, the fall had been sudden and painful, she hadn't been ready to fall so hard. She blushed feeling like an idiot. The feeling passed as quickly as it had come, and she lifted her face to watch as he slowly turned to his human form, her heart soaring in a cresendo of love for him. He came back! He came back for her! Finally they could be together again.
She nearly started crying then and there, but only really did when he asked her his question. Hot tears began pouring from her eyes, all the pain and ache from being left alone to wonder what it was that he was doing flowing with them. She almost shuddered as he touched her chin, so deprived of any physical contact with him. In her own pain, she didn't even seem to realize the male's insecurity. She just wanted to be with him, to hold him. Her mind wouldn't let her think of much else.
With a grunt and a hiss she stood before him, her eyes wet and streaming. She wondered weather she should be showing this much emotion in front of him. She wasn't quite sure he would like it, but she honestly couldn't help herself anymore. She went to try and embrace him, only to realize that the chains wouldn't allow her to get any closer to him. She gave a small whimper, but instead held out her arms, hoping he would come on his own accord into her embrace. "My love! My heart was about to gi-give out from the ache of miss-ssing you!" she said with a horrible honesty, her voice hiccuping once or twice as she tried to hold back a sob.
"Can I hold you?" she said almost desperately.

How did she do it?
Of all the women he'd taken to bed, of all the souls he had shattered and bodies he had broken... Why... Why was she the one that made his heart break when she was in pain? He could never tell her this, never allow that kink in his armor to be known to her; to anyone. Her pleading words made him tremble, outwardly with pleasure but inwardly it was painful. As always he missed her as she missed had missed him, so badly that his heart felt it might give out unless he had her close again. But these were all secrets, things he could never tell. They were weakness, vulnerability...and they put her in danger when he stirred up the dark side of the world. He would not give his enemies a target to his heart, he would not put Lenore in that kind of danger. Even though, he knew, that she would want it that way regardless.
These tragic thoughts were too much. They weren't like him, no... He was stronger than that and slowly he pushed them to the back of his mind and focused instead on the shackled raven before him.
Stepping forward he meshed their bodies together, his cheek pressed to her own as his lips danced over her ear. The kisses were seductive in their teasing quality but it was his words, he knew, that would make her melt for him. "O, my Lenore... I misst you too, efery secont I am avay from you is agony." And yet, they both knew, he would do it again and again but always he would return...for he could not bare a life without his dear Lenore.

She watched as he stood before her, thinking. She didn't like the look that came over his eyes. It was dark, and scary, and unknown. It was obvious to her that he was thinking deeply about something...very dark, but what exactly? Was he angry with her? Was she being to clingy? Did he not like that? She tried to supress her need to hold him, but found it was near impossible. After a week of seeing very little of him, if anything at all, and not touching him, she could not stand it any longer. Her heart was so glad to see him, she nearly sobbed with the realization that she would go crazy if he denyed her an embrase. She needed to know she as not crazy. She needed to know he was actually here, that he was going to stay now.
Before she knew it, her head was swimming. He had finally come in for the much needed embrase, but not without a gasp from her lips. There was nothing sexual about the sound, though it was filled with her need to be close to him. She would be ice cold to the touch, as would anyone be (even if they had insulating feathers) after being left out in the cold wilderness for a week. Indeed, one might wonder why she wasn't shaking. But his skin, it was so soft...and warm. She threw her arms around him and held him close. She hugged him tightly, almost as if with the intent of never letting him go again. She cried alot more freely now, and her sobs became more pronounced. "Please....please don't leave me here for so long again. Please! I thought...I thought you weren't coming back at all!" and she unleashed all her sadness upon him, crying very loudly now. Little did she know that her tears might have been hurting him just as much as him leaving her had hurt her. "I love you..." she said, her words sounding so pleading.
She honestly didn't know if she could handle being left alone for so long again.

Wulfram's shoulders tightened and his eyes snapped shut, holding back his own pain. He had been with her for so long. From 12 years and onward she had been his near-constant companion. They had quickly become friends and before either of them ever knew it they had become lovers an Wulfram would never have it any other way. From the very moment he had laid eyes on her he had known that he would never let another man touch her. She was his and oh how he cherished her. Now even, with his cold cruelty... She was his prized treasure in life.
"I love you too."
He couldn't manage to untangle anything else from his lips. If he risked it he might do something foolish like cry or promise things he could not yet give. But at very least...
"Nefer so long. I von't efer let us be apart for so long again." She had broken free...nearly escaped him. The image was burnt into his memory and played over and over again within his thoughts. "I couldn't bare to lose you.." The words came out in a sighed confession that he had not meant to speak, but which he did not deny either. They were pure truth.

She felt so weak, sobing and shaking against his strong, firm, masculine body. As a youth, she had been so different, only yeilding to her father, and easily dominating over her younger siblings by the simple fact that she was born a human, despite her rank. Now here she was, the strongheaded child completely gone, yeilding to her new master. She felt so increadibly weak, unable to do anything but cling on to him tightly and sob. And yet, despite her want to stop the flood of emotions, she was equally powerless to prevent them. She had really thought that she lost him. To have him back...was unlike anything she had ever felt before. It simply couldn't be discribed in words.
Her own eyes were shut, pouring out painful tears. Maybe if she had seen his expression she might have found the strength to stop crying. She would know how much this was actually hurting him, but she only had his words to go by in her world of relieved grief. She moaned painfully at his returned love, ending in a pitiful sob, before she actually truely tried to stop crying. After all, Wulfram was not gone! He was right here! She pulled her face away for a moment, whiping her damp eyes with the bottom part of the palm of her hand, teh glove easily soaking up the moisture, before she lifted her face to look at him straight on. She slowly began to try to pull herself together, trying to pull a smile upon her lips, despite her sadness. "I'm so glad to have you back...I thought I had lost you." she said, attempting to keep her voice level and calm without hiccups, before pulling back in to embrace him again, kissing the side of his face gentley a couple of times, happy to feel the warmth of his face against her lips.

"Never."
It was probably the most reassuring thing he had said all night, albeit he had only spoken one word but it was a promise he intended to keep. He would never allow her to lose him nor he to lose her. It simply couldn't happen, and in all honesty it was likely to kill them if it ever did.
Now, however, he had decided he was finished with the tears and with the heartbreak -both his and hers- and it was time to focus on more pleasant things. Or, perhaps, more necessary things than sorrow. Like making sure she was warm and fed after her long stay against the tree. Returning a kiss to her silken neck, he pulled away from her and shifted down to undo the chains that bound her. His meaning was obvious: it was time to go.
Hesitating a moment he looked her own, eyes all but scathing and yet beneath that sharp and studious gaze there was unmistakable concern. Was she even strong enough to maintain herself in flight after his neglect? Lord what a fool he was, and how close...how close he had come to such a horrible ending to their love.
"Can you fly? It's time to go home."

She breathed deeply, happy with the conviction she found in the single word. She let out a calming and reassured breath, realizing that her tears were now gone, just as easily as they had come. Despite the sadness that she felt only moments ago, she knew there was no need to be sad any longer, and from the motions of Wulfram, she could tell that he was feeling the same on the subject. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. He was here! He was unlocking her bindings. They were going home together. Where sadness had been only moments before, she felt a sence of ecstacy flow throughout her. While her face remained red and swollen from crying, her eyes showed her readiness to go home, to finally be by his side, hopefully for a while. In this moment, she felt as if they would never part again. She smiled brightly. This was always the best part of being locked away. Getting to come home. Getting to be with him. The drastic change in moods was almost unhealthy, but just as the crying could not be helped, so this stage of her emotional cycle could not either. In her excited state she didn't realize how weak she felt until Wulfram brought it up as he unchained her from the tree. Suddenly it was as if a large weight had been thrust upon her again. It had been a long time since last she had eaten...to long really. She managed to tie herself over by eating a couple of worms now and again in her bird form, though not exactly delicious it had been nessesary. She took a minute to think...could she fly? Slowly, maybe more so then usual, she shifted into her animal form, as it had always been the easiest form to fly in for her, and flapped her wings a couple of times. "I might be able to. My wings ache a little, but I will fly alongside you best I can..." the chain attached to her beak chinked as she talked and it moved, the end snaking around like it was alive with the movement of her speach. There was sincereness in her words. She would fly along side him, even if it was painful...or hard. Now that she had him back, she didn't want to loose him to her own weakness.

Ah... The return to sensibility. He greatly preferred it to the heartbreaking sorrow they had been bathing in moments before. Regardless if it was his doing or not, Wulfram couldn't bare it for long and could not remain locked behind his proverbial mask for eternity. One day his mask would break and he would be forced to deal with his emotions on an outward level but, until then, he would continue to wrap them up inside and keep them neatly tucked away from prying eyes.
As she changed he studied her, observing the weakness that invaded her wings as she gave them a testing flap. It was testimony enough of her weakness that she was forced to use her animal form in order to maintain flight. Sighing slightly he made a rare offer of concern and pity as he shifted down into his bipedal form and moved up to touch her wing.
"I won't haf you falling out of the sky in mid-flight." He stated firmly, stroking her soft feathers lightly. "Use your bipedal form, or your human one... I haf strength enough us both home and, efen if you vere to fly, I'd rather you be in a form I could catch more readily in if you vere to fall."
