Sekhmet probably would have been miffed if she'd known the stallion had almost forgotten entirely that her birthing date had been set to basically 'any day now' only a few days back. In his defence, two false starts did make for a bit of a 'boy who cried wolf' scenario, and she'd kind of been expecting this one to fall through too. But the blinding searing pain told her this was for real as much as the muscles contracting in her body in order to allow her first child's freedom. A group of medical aids practically fell over each other in hopes of being able to tend to the first child while the doctor helped her along in her labour. She could barely even see the child through the squinting of pain and this bothered her.
"Shinrai!" She half-moaned, half-cried out with tears glittering in her eyes. She didn't want someone, some stranger, handling her children while she couldn't even barely keep an eye on them. The panic had led to crying which had led to more panic which was now leading to a lot of soothing words to the man crouched between her legs. The next two children came with little fuss, she had closed her eyes to avoid freaking out at every little detail which was currently out of her hands. She'd rain down unholy motherly fury when she could see straight if it was necessary.
The last child held a bit of a surprise, which made her scream and kick out in surprise, her legs coming tightly together as she writhed in place. A cry from the doctor alerted her that something was wrong, and she fought past the pain to be able to sit up partially. It was then that she noticed her child was on fire. If her heart had of been beating it would have stopped. Two of her children were partially made from glass, and she knew whose fault that was. One of the ones made of glass was also on fire... no... his hair was on fire. No, his hair Was fire. And even stranger than the rest.... one was a human? She fell back into the bed and let shock take over, part physical, part mental.
"Give them to me." She said softly, her voice empty of all tone or emotion. When stuttering words of hesitation and questions as to which one(s) she wanted arose, she practically growled under her breath, the sound coming out rather pathetic as she was still struggling to keep tears from flowing down her face. "All of them." And if they were very lucky, Shinrai would be the one in possession of one or most of them. It wasn't that she didn't trust their medical team, Shinrai had picked out the best after all, and most of them had patched her up in the past at one point or another, but she just felt very... strange.

He came sliding into the room only just after her labour actually began and was immediately shuttled off to the side to be sterilized despite his protests. The stallion made it over just in time to be handed off the first child and he was torn between staring in awe at the little winged creature that looked frightening like Ira, though two long protruding fangs and a hint of a mop of golden hair, and trying to make it back to his King's side.
A little girl soon joined her eldest brother and the third was nevertheless a shock. Rai felt for a moment like the world was swimming, but the nurse quickly hustled the human child off to one side to wrap up immediately to keep his more fragile body warm enough. Rai was watching the woman care for his third son when Sek's cry of pain brought his eyes back.
"Holy. . ." he only just bit off the curse in time as the doctor rushed to see to now the injured woman and the nurses stared in shock at the equine baby.
With Sek's burnt flesh, they seemed uneasy in reaching for the boy, but Rai swiftly handed off the fairly normal pair he currently had to gently pick up the final one. When the deer came back enough to demand her children, Rai sent the nurses his own re-affirming stare so the first two were swiftly handed to their mother.
Rai sent her a smile, moving carefully over with their youngest still balanced cautiously in his arms. Another carried over the human and Rai leaned over the deer then to gently brush a kiss on her forehead. "You were wonderful," he told her softly. "They're all gorgeous."

Sekhmet managed a smile that was more of a lip-quiver, snuggling over towards the Queen as she felt the doctor stuggling with her legs to gain access to the sensitive area which had been burned by her last child. The feeling of something cold and wet made her yelp, and she quickly took the first two children into her arms, pressing her face to them and inhaling their scents. They were so beautiful, so astonishingly beautiful. Now with Shinrai this close, she could better see the child he carefully held in his arms. They'd certainly had beyond amazing children, and luckily no ranks too low. She'd have hated to dissapoint him in that respect. These children were children that a Queen of Hearts could truly be proud of.
"Thank you... I don't feel wonderful though." She admitted with a shaking laugh, a tired pout being given to the handsome man. She looked back down to the two squirming children in her arms, who seemed unusually content for newborns, and felt tears burning in the corners of her eyes. "Yes, they certainly are. Must have inherited your good looks." She teased lightly, her words coming out tired and mumbled. Letting out a sigh, she pulled her two children tighter to her and closed her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she reached a hand up to delicately stoke the child that Shinrai held.
"Where is the human?" She asked nervously, looking around with wider eyes. She didn't like that she hadn't seen him much yet, a human would be so delicate... this would be quite a test to her mothering skills. "Oh, names..." She gasped softly, just realizing that they would need names. How did naming work? Last time she'd only had control over the children who weren't allowed into the court. Would Shinrai want to name the boys and she could name the girl? It made sense, she wasn't the best with boy names. She looked up at him curiously, still distracted by the missing presence of her third child.

Rai glanced back over his shoulder to see the other nurse chafing gently at the pale, human body. If he'd had his ears just then, they'd be flat. The woman came closer to him, but she had a smile on her face.
"He's a little weaker than the others," she said quietly. "But that's just to be expected. We'll keep an eye on him, don't worry." Nobody, surprisingly, wanted anything to happen to the newborn children of the Queen of Hearts. Still, the nurse would carefully pass the boy on to his mother if she wanted him then.
With that settled, Rai turned back to the woman with a smile. "Oh, I'm sure we'll find something." He had a few names already in mind, though he would, of course, discuss it with Sekhmet first. "This one, however," he reached out briefly to tap the winged one on the nose. "I'd like to call Teremun."

Sekhmet leaned up out of the bed partially to gingerly accept the human. In this form the skin felt strange against her fur, the sounds the child made were interesting, she had never heard them before. She had honestly never heard a human child cry. She rocked and touched the child gently, allowing her two other children to wiggle up to her warmth as much as they wanted.
"Human children are so different.." She mumbled, nodding her head at the woman who had given the human over momentarily. She was kind of glad that someone else would be helping her to look after him, his form was weak enough on it's own and it seemed he was a little bit frail even for a human. Hopefully he would become stronger with time.
"That's beautiful, Shinrai. I would like her to be Ayanami if that's alright." She smiled faintly as she said it, touching the girl's candy coloured mane affectionately. Girl names she could deal with, besides, it seemed Shinrai had a knack for naming, she really did find the name suiting for the winged boy, who sneezed at Shinrai's tap on the nose. Sekhmet began to laugh, wincing with the pain of her muscles contracting as she did so.
"Thank you for coming." She had no idea if he thought it was very important, but the gesture had mattered a lot to her. Had he ever been present for a birthing before? He must have been, he was so unusually controlled. She, on the other hand, was still shaking and exhausted.

The man laughed at his eldest in this batch of children when the baby sneezed, though his eyes slanted to the woman in concern when she winced. He didn't want to insult her by bringing it up, though he was curious as to why she didn't have painkillers in her system now that the children were all born. He sent a quick, pointed glance at a nearby nurse that sent her scurrying for the doctor.
"I wanted to be here," he told the doe in no uncertain terms. "I just with Ira had been a little less--"
The words were interrupted by the self-same worthy's entrance. "Babies!" Ira announced with pleasure and swiftly bustled over to nab the child out of his Mommy Dearest's hands. Awww! Lookit the little Insidious! We're going to call you Sid!"
Teremun/Sid wiggled in response to his half-brother's voice, and Ira beamed down at the baby.

[My lack of activity is mucho embarassing XD but I will help close this up so the kids can move on in other threads <3]
In all honesty, the pain hadn't concerned her. She knew very little about her body in this state, and was far more concerned with putting anything unnatural in her system because the children would be gaining sustenance through her. She trusted the man's judgement and allowed Shinrai to send the nurse off with a demanding glance.
"I'm glad, I-" She also was cut off by the rambunctious entry of Shinrai's son, Ira. Truthfully, she was one of the few people who wasn't really put off by his eccentric behaviour. This might have changed if she'd known of the rapt interest he had in her son, but she was oblivious to that and so she tolerated the stallion quite easily.
Her hands reached out to keep Ira from getting out of her reach, not that she didn't trust him as Shinrai could easily stop him from doing anything with the child but... she didn't trust anyone. Every time someone touched her babies there was a slight string of panic that came along with it. She smiled a little uneasily and tilted her head. "Where did you come up with that name, Ira?" Her voice stated her tiredness, and she hoped his interest in the children would fade soon so that she could sleep.
The child was comfortable in his care and so the doe allowed herself to relax against the bed a bit more, glancing up at Shinrai and smiling contentedly. Would he be happy to see that one of his first children were taking to his new offspring? Or would it even really matter? She knew surprisingly little about their relationship she realized, but this was a good time to observe.

"You just have to look at him!" Ira responded brightly, then plopped the child right back into his Mommy Dearest's arms. "Oooh! There are other ones!"
"Ira," the older stallion's voice was sharp with reprimand. "Don't disturb them."
"Eeee! I have a baby sister!" Ira appeared to be oblivious to the Queen's irritation.
This surprised Rai enough that he was silent for a long moment. "What about Venka and Helena?" Just what exactly did Ira consider those two girls who were actually his full sisters?
"She shall be Seren!" The eldest son blatantly ignored the question.
Rai could only echo in bafflement, "Seren?"
"Serendipity, of course!" His attention immediately turned to the flaming boy. "Leviathon!"
The workings of his eldest child's mind made no sense to the stallion. It had to be Mnem's influence. By this point, a sort of morbid curousity had struck the man, mixed heavily with resignation. The sooner Ira finished, the sooner he could kick the man out. "And what about the other boy?"
Ira turned to stare hard at the human child for a very long moment. "Auxenhaus." he stated with a firm seriousness. "Spelt with an 'Au' rather than 'Ow'."
Rai shook his head. "Fine. Ira, they need to sleep now." He pointed to the door.
Ira paused to kiss every baby then flounced back out, humming under his breath. Rai gave a sigh of relief and couldn't stop the amused smile that tugged at the edges of his lips. Oy, he loved his children, crazy or not.

Sekhmet couldn't suppress a smile at Ira's antics, though the look softened when Shinrai reprimanded him for taking the children and disrupting them with his excitement. She still couldn't tell why he was so excited, and her expression was as speechless and open-mouthed as could be when the younger stallion explained that he had a baby sister. Shaking her head, she cuddled the one child still remaining in her care closer to her.
"Yes, you do, Ira." She listened to Shinrai and gave a look of amused bewilderment, since when had his son ever really been easily explainable? He should have known better than anyone that there was rarely any rhyme or reason to what Ira said or did, or at least, none that most people could see.
When he began naming the children, she put up a finger in protest, as she and Rai had just previously been establishing names, but she dropped her hand almost as quickly, there was really no point in it. Watching the Queen verbally chase after his son in an attempt to get his crazy antics under control made it all worthwhile though.
"I think that has to be the single most amusing I've ever seen anyone do in a birthing room before." She said quietly with a laugh after Ira had made his grand exit, almost every set of eyes in the room staring after him. The expression he gave said clearly that the stallion agreed, even if he wouldn't admit it out loud. At least through the experience she understood a fair bit more about their relationship and why Ira was so inseperable from the man.
"They do need to sleep, and I think so do I. I'm very glad you were here with me to see our beautiful children, Shinrai." For the first time in hours they were actually alone. One of the nurses attending her had physically followed Ira out into the hallway, and another was still out getting painkillers, though if she could fall asleep soon it would probably be a moot point for now.
