SMACK. A basket flew out from behind a group of trees and flew into a large oak, then fell to the ground and laid there for a few minutes until a small white and blue leveret jumped out from behind a bush and, to all appearances, attacked it. "Stupid basket. It's probably your fault I can't find any freaking berries. Why am I searching for berries? Because Heike wanted her out of his hair, the warren was perfectly clean, and dinner wasn't for three hours.
Meaning he had nothing better for her to do other than to search for berries that probably weren't anywhere near in season.
So what did Zulimar do? Took out her annoyance on the basket. She kicked it around, broke off a few strands of.. whatever the hell it was made out of.. threw it at the three again, then slumped against the base of a tree, cursing under her breath. Maybe she'd just stay out here all day, make Heike wonder if she'd just jumped in a lake and died.
Then again, maybe not, since she was from the Lakes.. and knew how to swim. Cliffs!

The Highlands really were a beautiful region, much like his birthplace of Esterberry. There were fields of grass everywhere, copses of trees that could almost-but-not-quite be called forests until you got to the hills, and the flowers were everywhere. A lot like home, really. Unfortunately, the people were also similar in the most unpleasant of ways. They all seemed to be arrogant pricks. Granted, he was still quite young for a Jack, only a few months into his fourteenth year, but really. They thought they were the superior region? Hah. His father had thought that as well. Foolish people. They could believe what they would. He knew better than them. Someday, when he was older, he would be able to share that knowledge with the others in his warren. Until then, he would simply be secure with the thought that he was a Hisstor, and that was all that mattered. He'd seen just about all of the Highlands that he wanted to see, people and landscape included, and was working on leaving inconspicuously from the region - there was a warren somewhere nearby whose territory he didn't want to cross - when something came out of nowhere and hit him in the head! He stopped and blinked, momentarily dazed before he looked down and saw a bedraggled basket a few feet away. "What... the hell?! Well, I never!" He had no idea who or what could have thrown it, just that it had hit him. In the head. His eyes widened briefly and one hand flew up to his hair, checking to make sure that everything was still in place and it hadn't knocked it askew.

Zulimar bolted to an upright sitting position when someone seemingly responded to her cursing--but a quick glance told her it was the basket hitting their head they were responding to, not her directly.
But look! It was a tiny little Jack! HOW CUTE! It was even fixing it's hair! Why was she referring to it as an it, when it had to be a him? Regardless! Cuteness!
The leveret shoved herself off of the tree and crept up to him until she was a few feet away.. then poked at his foot curiously. "You're a Jack right? A baby Jack?" She said immediately, not bothering with any courtesies or introductions. "Like, in-a-few-years-you'll-be-able-to-have-sex Jack?" Zulimar continued, and immediately began sniggering at the thought. How often did you see your worst nightmare in baby form, just wandering around aimlessly?
Well, maybe it wasn't aimlessly, but she was hardly about to ask him that. Chances are he wasn't her worst nightmare, either, since nothing could be worse than being drooled after by the Czar.
Really. Nothing worse.
The leveret didn't really bother to listen to his response, but continued visibly oogling him and how small he was. "You're so CUTE! and SMALL! and AHAHAHA!" She kept poking his foot, though it was obvious she'd rather be poking his face. Too bad she couldn't reach.. stupid short leveret-ness.

Dorian's head snapped up when he heard an actual voice respond to his somewhat-rhetorical question and dark golden eyes narrowed in anger. His curls felt distinctly rumpled and out of place thanks to the recent impact, something he'd been trying his best to avoid ever since the constant frizz of the dry air in the Wastes. The Highlands were an excellent location for hair maintenance, but no, someone had to go and throw a basket at his head!
...and then come near him. And poke him. And call him a baby. What was wrong with this creature? Hadn't its Jack taught it any manners?! Then it laughed at him.
The implications coming out of its mouth were just horrible, especially coming from an inferior creature like this Leveret. He had half a mind to just kick her and be done with it, but knew very well that such an action wouldn't end the matter and would only have him set upon by whoever the local Jack was. With how well-groomed all that extra fluff was, he would wager that she belonged to a warren.
"Yes, I am a Jack. No, I am not a baby. I can have sex now, if I really wanted to. And I..." - dramatic pause - "...am Dorian."

Zulimar just stared at him doubtfully, then abruptly broke into an obnoxiously loud gigglefit, complete with her falling over and rolling around, clutching her stomach. It took her several minutes to finally stop, and when she did she merely rolled onto her stomach and stared up at him. "Dorian, huh? I'm not sure how having a name implies you're not a kid and can have sex, but whatever floats yer boat I suppose." She shrugged, her half-wings idly flitting in the breeze.
"Well, Dorian, I'm...." She paused just as dramatically as he had, and sat up in the process in order to place her hands on her hips as best as her form allowed, "Zulimar. And quite a bit sexier than you, if I do say so myself." She then nodded and shrugged, as if agreeing that the weather was nice, instead of blatantly insulting him.
Zuli, despite being brazen, wasn't stupid--and immediately picked herself up to go collect her basket.. several feet away. "Wanna help me find berries?" She asked over her shoulder. Not that she wanted berries or his company, but he was proving rather amusing.

"It implies that I have an identity, you rude thing, which is more than I can say for quite a few Leverets." He stood stiffly, debating just how offended he should get with this creature. It was on home territory, that was quite true, and he didn't want to get into any sort of conflict with a mature Highland Jack, at least not until he had fully grown into himself and whatever fabulous abilities his privileged status would grant him. So much as touching a hair on its head would probably trigger just such a reaction. From the way it dared to act around him, and also from its looks, he would peg it as being its Jack's current 'project'. That would make any sort of reaction far, far worse.
And then it dared to compare itself to his golden good looks. He stared at the audacious creature for a split second before he laughed. For it to even say something so utterly ridiculous... it now occurred to him that it must be teasing him and putting itself down to a proper level at the same time. The fact that anyone, especially a Leveret, would even try to compare themselves to his appeal... obviously it was jesting with him and implying that it recognized his superiority at the same time. What a perverse, delightful little thing!
"Ah, don't you just wish, darling." His expression had gone from one of indignation to one of someone 'in on the joke', a small smile tugging at his muzzle. "That was quite clever of you. I almost didn't catch it! Shame on me, yes, your wit was almost too sharp. What kind of berries are you collecting?"

Zulimar blinked at him. "I have an identity. I told you, I'm Zulimar." She then shrugged, and didn't bother to comprehend his silly words for a few minutes. The leveret bounced over to her basket and placed it upon her head--the only way to carry it was in her mouth otherwise, and that impeded the wonderful conversation they were having.
If nothing else, she would carry it in her mouth if he began to annoy her further.
He began talking once more, and the Selkie did her best to focus back in instead of trying to keep the basket actually on her head. Wish? Wish.. what? What the hell? Catch what? What in bloody hell was he talking about? Clearly he thought her insult some kind of joke, so that made him either stupid or... stupid.
It worked in her favor, though. She didn't have to think of a way out of trouble, and he thought her clever. "Of course," She replied nonchalantly, as if she'd been joking the entire time and knew it. "We are collecting nonexistant berries, as it appears that there are none in this particular forest area. Nonetheless, we must continue searching, because I have absolutely no desire to return to my warren at the moment." She nodded vaguely and bounced over to a bush, then began picking through it as if searching--but it was a fern.

Dorian brought one of his curls forward to play with it for a moment, considering. "A name doesn't have to be an identity. It can just be a label. Mine is certainly the former, but a lot of... well. A lot of Leverets don't seem to have much of one." He shook his head with a melodramatic sigh as if it were a great shame.
Having interpreted her insult as a witty rejoinder, he seemed in a much more amenable mood now. He still wasn't quite up to using her name, though. "So tell me, which warren do you belong to? I'm assuming the local one, but I don't know much about this region. I'm just passing through, you see. I don't yet have knowledge of this place. Not that I much care about Highlanders." His shrug said it all.
Berries? And nonexistent ones, at that? "I haven't seen any berries ripe in this region," he commented idly as he followed along, continuing to twist and twine a curl in his fingers.

Zulimar just gave him a droll look, and rolled her eyes at a nearby tree to avoid confusing him with too many emotions at once. (That is, if one considered variants of sarcasm an emotion..) "Do I seem like one of those Leverets to you, really? I think I'm insulted.." She said indignantly, then mirrored his sigh for effect. Not like he'd notice, anyways.
"I belong to the wonderful," She said with dripping sarcasm, "Czar Vikenti. I'd stay away if I were you, he's fond of eating small children. I'm not sure how his own are still alive really." Zuli said with a completely straight face, fully intending to see just how much he'd believe from her mouth before the doubt set in.
"THERE ARE BERRIES." She stated loudly, swinging her head around to glare at him once more. "We just haven't found them yet, that's all."
Or something to that effect.

"Oh no, darling, you've got class," Dorian told her with a dismissive wave and flexing of his paw. "There aren't many Leverets who could match wits with one such as myself and yet you managed it beautifully. Kudos again!" He laughed and followed her along on her hunt for berries.
Hmm, a Czar who was fond of consuming his own young? How revolting! He felt sure the fellow was an outcast Jack of some sort for committing such atrocities, but that was provided that Rabbit society knew of his misdeeds. He only appreciated the Leveret's warning. If it wasn't a widely known fact, he was sure there was good reason. Just... eww. He himself didn't feel threatened, no longer being a child in his own mind. "I appreciate the warning about the nature of this character," he told her, crinkling his nose in distaste, and then took a startled step back when she rounded on him and spoke in an exasperatedly loud tone.
"Well excuse me," he replied with a snort. "Obviously you aren't very good at this or you would have found them already."
