Zulimar blinked, and tried to figure out if he was serious. A moment's delibration told her he was; obviously this was a Jack that thought little of Leverets, though that wasn't saying much in general. To merit his approval must be a huge accomplishment in his mind, even if it meant diddlysquat to Zuli herself. Why would she care if she got his 'kudos'? He was dumb as shit, that was apparant.

Especially because he believed her. The leveret abruptly stopped and busied herself by pretending to dig through a bush for berries. What kind of ninkompoop thought Jacks ate their babies? What good would that do? No profit there! It took everything she had to keep from immediately cracking up, but a few snorted giggles escaped before she could stop them. Hopefully he wouldn't notice.

She stuck her head back out and frowned at him. "I never claimed to be any good, and you're not even helping, so maybe that's why it's going so slow, hmm?"

Dorian looked down his nose at Zulimar for a moment., dark golden eyes narrowed superciliously. "As if I would do the work of a Leveret," he replied with a haughty sniff. Maybe it wasn't as cultured a creature as he'd thought, merely bright and quick on its feet. A pity, that, but at least some value remained in conversation. He couldn't find many Leverets that were up to the challenge of a decent conversation. The snorted giggles hadn't been noticed, as the young Jack was far too preoccupied with himself to pay any mind to strange noises.

"I find it strange that your Jack would assign you to a task to which you were obviously ill-suited," he pointed out, leaning against one of the nearby trees. "I can't imagine this would be your first time searching for berries, would it? It seems a straightforward enough task." They didn't really have 'berry bushes' in Hisstor, but he'd seen them in other regions sporting bright red and black and blue berries that had tasted absolutely delicious and pleased his sense of aesthetics at the same time.
