Aliyah was...nervous. Very nervous. Her sister was coming to visit her in the Gardens with Grandmother, and though she'd managed to force the 2 on her chest that she'd been born with to become a 3, she hadn't yet managed to push herself beyond that point. It wasn't fair. Kaiesha had been lucky enough to just be born a Jack, and didn't have to work herself nearly as hard as she did. She was just already the apple of their parents' eyes. And- The cheetah cut that thought off where it was, because it was unbecoming of her to think such things about her sister. Or so Grandmother would have said. Instead, she concentrated on the fact that, because she had been born with such a low rank, she would have to prove herself. It was a challenge to her that she had to overcome, and would overcome, because she was the daughter of Hir Majesty Queen Iria and Her Highness King Ceren, and because she was herself and no one else. So what if Kai had been born a Jack. She would become one on her very own merits, and by her own effort, instead of just trusting Fate. Having managed to kick the small bits of resentment that hit every now and then firmly on the butt, she resumed pacing around the gazebo that had been set aside for her use for this meeting. She'd been groomed to perfection by some of Grandmother's servants, and the feathering on her feet and tail flowed gracefully behind her, as she'd finally managed to stop tripping over them. The rest of her build, however, was the gangly, near-emaciated look that one could expect from a cheetah being pushed to her limits day in and day out. And Kaiesha would arrive soon, and she could finally see her sister after so long apart.

It was a long trip from the court of her birth to the Gardens, but Kaiesha hardly had time to be bored. She sat eager and attentive, staring out the window as they breezed through lush meadows after a night spent in the Capital. Questions streamed through the hybrid's mind. Her sister had been so young the last time they saw each other that she had only a hazy picture in her mind of the cheetah. And oh, Kaiesha was excited. What she remembered of her sister was the very picture of elegance and grace. She might even go so far as to say that Aliyah had been the reason that Kai now dreamed only of dance. As she stared out the window, the young girl fidgeted ever so slightly, talons resting against the cover of the photo album she'd been busily putting together since she'd found out that she'd be finally going to visit her sister. Photographs of the dance troupe she'd seen in the town, of the pair of them as kittens, of their parents... Of course, there was something that was different in the pictures. As she was now, a second pair of wings rose from just between her natural pair, long and edged in elegant peacock feathers. As pretty as they were, the sparrow-hybrid couldn't help but feel self-conscious about them. She hoped her sister wouldn't be too alarmed. Then they were there. Kaiesha quickly tucked the photo album into her bag, jumping down from the carriage and walking up to her grandmother's house.

A Bipedal hawk met her at the doorway, raising an eyebrow for a second and eyeing her with rich blue eyes before stepping aside. "You'll be Miss Kaiesha, then. Please come in - Miss Aliyah is waiting for you at the gazebo." She turned away then, giving her a mildly expectant glance before leading her through the house and then out the back into the garden.
Aliyah's pacing picked up speed again, long feathers snapping back and forth before she made herself stop, calm down. She didn't need to make a fool of herself, not now, not when she knew her sister would be arriving any minute. Sitting down, she determinedly groomed her chest, feeling almost distateful about the rank, but cleaning it anyway, no matter how clean it was already. It was better to do that then to pace around like an idiot.
Which didn't stop her from leaping to her feet again when the back door to the house opened up and she caught sight of pale blue and white where it usually wasn't. Looking over eagerly, she saw...Kaiesha?
...really, she knew she'd been out of contact, but she'd thought her sister had only the one set of wings before, not two.
And she had to do her duty as a proper hostess, training reminded her, and she took a deep, calming breath, and headed out the entryway to the gazebo on to the path leading to it, seating herself by the doorway until the hawk and Kaiesha came within the proper distance. Then she stood and paced toward them, an eager smile on her face.
"Kaiesha! It's so good to see you. Welcome!"[/color]

The sparrow-cheetah nodded politely to the bipedal hawk, giving her a demure smile that her mother would have been proud of. "Thank you," she said before following the woman as indicated.
She wished that they could walk a little bit slower, that she could get a chance to explore the lovely house and then, when they finally reached it, the garden, but for now she had to content herself with the knowledge that she'd be here for more than a day, and there would be plenty of opportunity for exploration after she saw her beloved sister again. A bounce entered her step as she made her way towards the Pagoda, eyes glittering when she caught a glimpse of bright colors amid those of the garden.
Then the full cheetah was in full view, and it was all that the hybrid could do not to run to her sister's side.
As it was, she let out a happy chirp when Aliyah walked towards them, sitting back in her haunches to hug her sister with her much more nimble avian forelimbs. She chirped again as she nuzzled the girl's cheek, her feathers fluffing happily all across her body. Her large, new set of wings twitched and flared to the best of ther ability when she finally released her sister from the hug. "Oh, Aliyah! I've missed you so much! Thank you ever so much for having me visit."

She couldn't help herself, and chirped back as she returned the hug as best she could. Perhaps Animal forms were not particularly conducive to hugging, but she didn't care. Not now, not when she was finally seeing her sister, who she hadn't had contact with in...oh, forever! Any thoughts of jealousy that might have been remaining vanished in that instant. How petty they were. This was her sister!
"I've missed you too," she said happily, blinking rapidly to take care of the tickle in her eyes was thinking about becoming tears. No need to embarrass herself! "Thank you for bringing her here, Lirine," she said, turning to address the hawk, who took that as her dismissal, bowed, and left. Aliyah promptly focused her attention back onto her sister.
"Please, come into the gazebo, I've got a light lunch set up for us. I'm sure you're hungry after all of that traveling!" And though she'd already eaten, she was already getting a bit hungry again. There were side-effects to training almost constantly.

It was such a relief when the slight tension she'd felt in her sister dissolved. She longed for real arms like her mother's, but her avian forelegs were more than good enough to hug and cling to her beloved sister. Kaiesha chirped happily, nuzzling her feathery face against Aliyah's. Yes, this was how it was supposed to be. She thanked the attendant and waved as the woman retreated, still flushing happily beneath her pale feathers.
At the offer of lunch, the hybrid's stomach let out a quiet rumble and the girl laughed openly. "I really am. It's quite the journey, but so beautiful. I can't wait until we can make it together." She couldn't, either. Perhaps she'd found a place for herself in the Court and even made a friend or two, but it just didn't feel right without her sister there. She still didn't fully understand why it was that the cheetah couldn't be there now, but she wasn't going to question her parent's motives. Slowly, she made her way back to the gazebo, taking time to glance around at their lovely surroundings.
"It's gorgeous here, Aliyah," she breathed once she'd settled in across from her sister. The food looked delightful too. "And you look well. Tell me everything that's happened since I last saw you."
Kaiesha had a story or two to share herself, as she was certain that Aliyah would be wondering about the second pair of wings that sprouted from her shoulders.
