Okay, so there has been a change on the Points page in Joining Information. I can hear you groaning. Stop it. No numbers have been changed. Only what points you can spend where.
Ranks and forms are now completely controlled by assigned points. There are several reasons for this. One, it was a very good idea suggested by one of our members and I give her major anonymous kudos. Nat and I have been in a dilemma over what to do for this. We didn't want to change the point totals because we think they're reasonable where they are now.
What we DID do is change what points you can use to up rank and gain new forms. You may only use ASSIGNED POINTS, aka. points on your little point tree of replies, meeting SD, finishing threads, etc. to gain these two things. Ranks and form increases are both intensely personal things to each SD and have large RP consequences. We feel that it's only fair to have these things purchased with points gained through RP. They are also extremely time-consuming for admins, both in art and/or nobility quest RPs. We feel that it is more fair for everyone involved to make this change rather than upping point requirements forever.
What does this mean? If you've already sent in your request as of me posting this, you're fine. Otherwise? Only assigned points may be used for those two things, rank increases and forms. You can use assigned and unassigned for everything else, from favors to magic powers to items and whatnot. But not for ranks or forms.
So you might have to work a little harder to achieve your goals. I'm sorry, but we are also working very hard to help you on your way once you do achieve them. We put a lot of time into art (Nat) and into RP and quests (both of us), and it's very draining. We're happy to do it, we love seeing the results, but we feel that there needs to be this limit to keep us both sane. We are in no way trying to punish people for being awesome enough to create fanworks. We love them and they make us squee, and the points can be used for everything else. Just not these two things.
If you have problems with this, please do not PM Nat. PM Jenn. We can talk if you need to. I'll be very, very angry if I see people harassing Nat over this change. She is putting enough time into art, which I am unable to do due to my lack of 'mad art skillz', as it were. Harass her andI will bite you we will have words.
