Vikenti listened to the Leveret with a half-interested, half-entertained smirk on his face. The little creature was quite clearly terrified of him, which the Jack found no small pleasure in. The talents that the pretty little creature described would be useful to him he was sure, but there was no fun in simply giving anyone who waltzed in a "fun" job like the one that the Leveret was suggesting it be given. The Rabbit was an Esterberry, and the Jack had run his Warren for long enough to know trouble when he saw it - bowing down to the whims of an Esterberry and giving them the job of their dreams would only cause issues later on, he was sure.
No, this interesting little creature could work its way up, or it could leave. He smiled to himself at the very thought.
"While that is a very interesting talent, as you can clearly see I keep my study organized on my own. I dislike other paws touching my books, especially when they are paws that I don't yet know and trust.[/b]" the man shrugged apologetically, but there was nothing apologetic in his voice or any of his other actions. That was just the way things were. "But we do have work for you. I need someone to wash the sheets of my Does. I will not have them sleeping in filth. Make me happy, and we'll see what other jobs we have avaliable.[/b]"
The man sat back in his chair, opening his book again to indicate that the conversation was over, though bright yellow eyes flicked up to look the purple-spotted rabbit over once more. "Aimili will show you to your room.[/b]"
The younger Leveret moved forward quickly, giving Shashi a quivering smile as she tugged on his arm with her bone-paw, encouraging him to follow her out. Once the door was closed behind them, she began to speak. "It's not so bad, really... It used to be my job. And if you do a good job, the Czar will reward you with a better job."

Defeat. Complete and utter defeat. He was not only bowing to a Highlander but he was stuck cleaning the laundry. That was the worst job in any successful warren. He was completely and utterly screwed.
"Thank you, sir," he squeaked with his head still down.
Shashi allowed himself to be pulled on by the strange leveret. If he made it out of this horrible warren, he was going to make sure to make their lives miserable before he went.
When the door was closed Shashi narrowed his eyes at the Hisstor. Not that bad? Did she know how humiliating the job was for someone like him? Did she know how demeaning it was even for a leveret to do something like that? Apparently she was just as dumb as she looked. He was about to open his mount when he caught the sight of a cream and green figure in the corner of his sight.
"How did everything go Aimili?" asked Heike with a small smirk on his face.

Vikenti was quick to settle back into his chair, absently returning to his reading. There wasn't any way this newcomer couldn't prove to be interesting in one way or another, that was for damn sure. He'd have to keep a close eye on the pretty little creature.
After all, it wouldn't do to miss the fun of an Esterberry either bowing down, or exploding. He personally was hoping for the latter. It would be much more interesting.
Aimili gave the other Leveret another bright and reassuring smile, but before she could dig herself deeper Heike interfered. The girl bobbed her head in a small nod as she returned the smile. "It went quite well." she replied cheerfully, turning to the Esterberry and giving him a look that seemed to ask for his imput. "Master was very pleased to have Shashi joining us, I think."

"Is that so?" Heike asked as he narrowed his eyes at the Esterberry. He didn't suspect that the Czar would give him a good job being that he was from Esterberry and brand new. "What job did you get stuck with then?"
Shashi glared knives and daggers are the antlered rabbit. The Czar probably thought that he was a pretty one. There was no way in the White Rabbit's Name that the Avington was a girl with that smug look. "Washing sheets."
"Sheets?" Heike repeated with a smile. "I hope you have fun with that. Anyway, when you have time Aimili I need help in the kitchens. Once you're finished with our new member of the warren, please join me." He gave her a cordial smile before departing, giving the Esterberry one last glare.
What climbed up that Avington's ass and died? "It was a pleasure." Shashi said with a nose twitch.

The younger rabbit was completely oblivious to the drama and hatred flowing between the pair of elder Leverets. She just beamed up at Heike, her affection for the older Rabbit showing through. He was such a gentleman, always treated her and her siblings so well! He was the best teacher a young Rabbit could ever ask for, yes indeed. She waved at the Avington as he vanished down the long hallway, then turned her attention back to the pretty Esterberry.
Yes, her father was proud. She was sure of it. How could he not be? She'd done an excellent job today! She beamed at Shashi.

As it turned out, the Warren wasn't exactly ready for a new arrival, and so they were rather short on beds. As luck would have it, Aimili was a kind and giving sort, and so she'd volunteered to have Shashi share a bed with her until they'd sorted things out a bit more. It would only be for a day or two, a week at the very most. Not long at all, and it was better than sleeping on the floor, right?
The last part was true. But it had been three weeks.
Aimili didn't complain, of course. She loved having someone to talk to every night, as the closet she slept in was fairly lonely before. Not that she minded the loneliness, having her own space was worth it. But it was good to have a friend, especially one she could talk to for hours. And oh, Shashi was so quiet and listened so well! It was like a dream come true.
It was the middle of the night, and Aimili was snoring and kicking her feet. Clearly, she was having a rather intense sort of dream, one that involved quite a lot of moving around.

Three weeks. Three weeks of sheer torture and hell. It made Shashi want to scream, but no. He had to stay nice. He had to pretend that the world was filled with happy things. He couldn't be sarcastic and snobbish. He couldn't be himself.
And now he was being kicked in the fucking face. There weren't enough curse words to describe how angry he was. The lack of sleep, the annoying ranting, everything was weighing on him and this was the final straw.
"Wake the hell up you stupid MORON!" he growled as he used all the power in his hind legs to kick the girl out of the bed. He had been forced up against the wall with all her tossing and turning and, he wanted sleep! SLEEP! Was it that hard to understand?!
And then the Esterberry part of him clicked. Oh, that was a bad idea. He looked around frantically. How could he lose his cool in such a dangerous place? He couldn't lose to that damned Highlander!
And yet he just kicked his useless daughter out of his own bed.
Great way to start his third week of service.

Aimili awoke with a jolt and a desperate sounding squeak as she found the bed no longer beneath her and the feeling of a strong hind leg slamming into her midsection.
The girl fell into a heap, making soft whimpering noises as she looked up at Shashi, eyes sparkling brightly in her eyes. What... what had just happened? She leaned back slightly, looking down at her own torso and wincing slightly as she did. There was... blood in her fur. He'd kicked her hard, hadn't he? There was something odd on her face, something enraged and dismayed and betrayed all at once. She tried to justify it to herself - he'd just moved in his sleep, it was just an accident.
But then his words rang through her head again, and she looked perfectly calm.
"I don't think this bed fits both of us," she said in her usually cheery expression, though her tone was made slightly sour with pain. She rubbed one bone forelimb over the scratches on her stomach, glancing down at it and rubbing the blood between her fingers. She laughed softly, ears flipping down slightly. "I'll go get cleaned up and talk to Heike about getting you a room of your own, don't worry about it."
And then she smiled brightly at him, heading out of the room and padding straight to Heike, but not before she activated a small ability she hadn't even known she had.
Wisp of Wheat: Once a week, this SD is now capable of causing one person that they focus their attentions on to hear thin, pitiful voices calling their name at odd intervals for a full 24 hours. These voices sound as though they are on various levels of panicked whispering or shouting from a great distance away, they are constantly calling out to the victim as though they are being tortured, or stalked by something so frightening that they can’t put words to it. If the victim is unfortunate enough to pay heed to and/or follow the voices, something unfortunate could happen. PM the admin should this be the case.

Shashi didn't mean to hit her enough to cause her to bleed. He watched in horror as she picked herself up with a smile. He opened his mouth to apologize but shut it again.
Why would he apologize to someone who wasn't an Esterberry? Why would he lower himself to that level. The rabbit watched as she left the room with narrowed eyes.
Shashi!
He snapped his head around. Who said that? His ears twitch furiously as he slipped out of the bed to look around the room. Why would anyone be there anyway? It was just his imagination. It must because of lack of sleep.
Shashi!
It was a horrible pleading. Begging. Horror. It almost sounded like his mother....
---
Heike wasn't asleep. He was having one of his fits again. Problems plagued his mind. Worry. What about his sister. The Czar was after her again! No one was good enough for her. HIS sister. He twitched in furry as he paced in his room.
And that Shashi character. He didn't like her at all. There was something wrong with her. He couldn't place it. Beyond the Esterberry snark that was.

The clicking noise of her footbones would alert Heike to Aimili's approach long before she actually arived. The girl peered into the older Leveret's room, dark eyes hopeful when she saw that he was still awake.
Without waiting for a response from him, the Rabbit slipped into the room and eased the door shut behind her. The smile was quickly replaced by something unfamiliar, something that had never been seen on sweet Aimili before. It was dark and angry, smoldering just behind her eyes. Her ears laid back and a small line of fur just behind her neck.
It seemed she was her father's daughter, after all.
"That.... That little... UGH!" she snarled, bone feet clenching and unclenching with a kind of wordless upset. When she looked at the Avington Leveret, there were tears in her eyes again, but they weren't sad. "I can't deal with that stuck-up Esterberry prick a moment longer. I can't kill it myself but I know Father could."

It was silence for a while. Shashi was thankfully as he laid down in the bed. And then the cry came again. A cry of horror. A cry begging. He put his paws over his face. No, he couldn't listen. He couldn't follow the begging. It wasn't his mother. It couldn't be his mother.
Please save me, Shashi!
---
Heike stopped in mid-motion when the other rabbit entered the room. He watched her wide eyed as she spit out words of venomous hatred. His ears perked as he felt a warm fuzzy feeling of appreciation well up inside of him. He suddenly liked Aimili then times more, and she was already someone in his good graces to begin with.
"Well, my dear. We'll have to arrange something won't we?" Heike grinned. It was something rather unnerving coming from him. It wasn't his usual happy fake smile, it was one of complete and utter hate and this was only feeding his paranoia.
