Rai didn't react. He sat very still and contemplated her facial expressions and tones for a very long time. When he was certain he could keep his voice level and easy, though to her it may seem he was just trying to decide if he was going to believe her, he asked, "Wot all was put into me? Wot was it supposed to do?"
For now... for now he had no idea if he believed her. If he should believe her. Was that a lie? -Could- that be a lie? Her voice held a ring of truth that it didn't have over their lunch or tea or wotever it was that time he'd helped her for her 'work'. She was a Diamond; a higher ranking Diamond at that; would he even know if she was lying? But he needed all the information from her he could get, especially since he didn't think he'd shown any changes from their experiments.

He was staying in place, but he seemed a bit skeptical of what she had said. He had reason to, she supposed. She did lie to him in the cafe, and quite cheerfully. She liked deception, under most circumstances. But she figured that here she may as well keep being honest.
"As for what Minh put in you, I haven't the foggiest," she said. "I tend not to ask her about the particulars of her experiments. She likes causing mutations. People growing new limbs and whatnot. She gave Monty a wing and spikes. And psychosis. But that's neither here nor there really. She's been trying to keep tabs on you, see if it's having any effect, but it would appear not." She paused. "As for what I did--it wasn't too dangerous. Fatal, anyway. Making sure some of my antidotes worked. Neither of us had any intention of killing you."

No, a real live experiment would be too valuable to waste, especially with such things as wot he knew Minh and Mnem dabbled in. He gave a small nod of his head, pursing his lips for a moment before rising and advancing suddenly upon the woman.
"I'm sorry about this, Mnem," he said softly, as he quickly took ahold of her upper arm. He carefully jostled her so she was by her bed, then concentrated on his King's ability.
As the pain shot through the woman, she stiffened and gave a loud, angry, and surprised curse, but after only a moment, it overwhelmed her and she slumped, unconscious. The stallion glanced down to be sure she was at least somewot comfortably draped across her bed, as the small window like apparition appeared before his eyes and he quickly skimmed through the woman's memories, ignoring everything until he could find wot he was looking for, though a lot of wot was hiding in the woman's head appeared rather interesting. He only needed to know about his own involvement with her however, and he concentrated to catch every detail of that night he could no longer remember.
When he finished watching, Mnem and Minh had simply dumped him in the gutter!, he gently tucked Mnem into her bed and went to his own. He didn't sleep immediately, however, simply stared at the ceiling and thought.
The next morning, the stallion acted as though nothing had occurred, simply fastened his cloak tightly around him as the woman woke and gave her a tight smile. "They should be out there soon. I'm going to arrange some travel rations for our breakfast and lunch. I'll see you downstairs." And, in a swirl of his deep blue cloak, the stallion was gone.

Mnem glared at the stallion's back as his performed his swishy little cape twist and blithe exit. Nice, very nice; very dashing and smug. Stupid son of a bitch. She'd at least expected some kind of fight, not to be grabbed and knocked out like some kind of unruly child who needed to be put to bed. Wretchedly undignified, and who knew what he'd done once she'd passed out?
Though she supposed it could have been a lot worse. She could be dead. And she appeared mostly unharmed. Not even any bruising, really, where he'd grabbed her. Though the fact that he had said nothing at all to her about the explanation of that night's events worried her a bit. What did he do? What would he do?
She got out of bed, gathered her own things, and made her way downstairs to where they were supposed to be meeting Jada and Lee.
It was going to be a long day.

Downstairs in the inn, the young poodle they'd met yesterday at the counter was mopping the floor and yawning, leaning against the wooden handle for a moment with an aura of 'tired' before continuing with his task. He offered them a wave, but not much else this early. Maybe he hadn't had coffee yet? The smell of the stuff was wafting through the air.
At one table, the canine and falcon were both finishing up a breakfast of bacon and sausage and eggs, each with a mug of coffee that they were well on their way to downing. They both looked up at the sound of footsteps, the woman looking honestly surprised. That they'd turned up? Maybe.
Lee waved them to a seat and motioned for the young man to bring them food with an imperious wave. Sighing and rolling his eyes, he trudged off to do so, bringing it out with surprising swiftness considering how tired he looked and acted.
"Our companions have already finished breakfast and moved ahead of us. You may as well count them as scouts. Danny and Mork are their names. Eat up... we'll be leaving as soon as you're done, so no slow chewing, if you could. Time to hunt a monster."

"That sounds fine," the stallion answered easily, turning his head slightly when he heard more footsteps on the stairs behind him. He was glad it hadn't taken the woman long to get ready, even if he was still a little uneasy about being in her presence. He refused to give any indication of it however, instead he simply scooted over so the woman would have room at the table as well.
"Are there any particular type of rations that you usually use?" the stallion asked in a low, easy voice. He had some dehydrated fruits and vegetables in his bag, but not really anything for meals on the trail. Normally, at home, at least, he would simply browse along the path but here he couldn't really. He didn't trust the unknown plant life and with winter it would be doubly difficult to find trustworthy items.

Mnem made short work of her breakfast (eggs and toast and bacon and similar grease-filled items, fare she normally didn't touch, but she needed to fill up on something, and it may as well be this), and attempted to down as much coffee as was possible. Loaded up with cream, of course, because black coffee was the tool of the devil. Mnem mostly considered herself a morning person, though there were some who would disagree (like, say, Minh, but she tended to disregard her thoughts on such issues), but her general alertness in the morning was usually facilitated by massive amounts of caffeine. And occasionally by yelling at people, which was always invigorating.
She took a moment to look at Shinrai, absently spinning her spoon around in her coffee. "Do you have everything else we need in that pack? Water, rope, first aid kit, that sort of thing? Monster repellent?"

The stallion sent the woman an almost amused glance, though it was tinged with a questioning undercurrent. "I may even have the coffee for you," the man replied lightly. "But only if you're nice as we head out." He let it stand as a joke even as he quickly inhaled his breakfast; he avoided all of the heavy foods, loading up, instead, on fruits and carbs. His heavier body needed the extra sugars and wotnot, but he didn't dare put new and unusual foods in his stomach right before a potentially dangerous trip.
Especially not when he was just a tiny bit nervous about it. His tail tapped lightly against his hocks in thought. It was going to be a crazy ride; he knew that already. He shook his head slightly, waiting for either Jada or Leeland's reply about the rations. Meal-type rations were the only thing he was still lacking for their trip.

"We won't be out long or far enough to need much in the way of rations," Lee told them with a small shake of his head. "We have some nuts and a little jerky, but we prefer just hunting up food if it looks like we'll be out a while. You can bring whatever you want, but you probably won't need it. The spot of the lake we're investigating is only about an hour out along the shore. We think the thing lives pretty close based on earlier observation."He stood and the young man once again stopped his cleaning to clear away their dishes, making a small face at Mnem that said 'pity me' before heading off into the kitchen with his stack. The Villa canine, meanwhile, put on a large woolen coat that had been draped across the chair next to him and slung a pack over his shoulders. "We're meeting up with the others near the area where we thing the thing lives," he told them, heading for the door and expecting them to follow. If they didn't, well, they obviously hadn't wanted to come anyway and he could just as well do without their presence. The walk would be a cold one, winter in full swing, but at least there wasn't a very strong breeze that day. On the Lakes, winter weather was always a hit or miss. Storms could move in very quickly, but today looked to be a clear and crisp sort of morning.
