The hawk was not happy to be here, well maybe he was, but it couldn't be seen in his manners. He found it awkward to walk on his two feet, but he couldn't do otherwise, if he flew he couldn't talk with someone, okay. His already small stature made that he had to do it sometimes, but generally he could just manage fine. He then decided that he wasn't comfortable, at all, so the first one that managed to startle him could expect something in their face, no matter what their rank. Well, if they where high, he would apology of course, but not mean it. They had to look out for him, not otherwise! It didn't become better that his family had gone without him, nor that he hadn't found a place where he could hear good stories. His purple eyes where narrowed as he gazed around.
He knew that he best didn't catch someone's attention, the heart ranked card wasn't foolish, although most would say it. It seemed that they automatically thought him stupid because he was a bird, please! They would scramble back when they noticed the heart on his chest, the number wasn't the highest but enough to instill fear in most, well, what you could call fear that was, he looked away from a happy couple and sighed "It isn't easy.." He actually considered scooping up some dirt and smear it over the mark. He sometimes found it funny how they handled him, if he was in a good mood. He nearly cackled as he did so, peering at it he let it drop again Nah. He thought for a moment Let them run and apology.. He chuckled then for a moment.
He wanted to burst into a song, but that wouldn't be the best of ideas, they where already gazing at him like a greedy person would do to a golden coin. If he held himself stupid he could survive this, hopefully being the unsaid keyword. He ruffled his feathers and continued hopping, as he couldn't walk, further along the street, looking at the little shops that littered around. He felt a small smile curl his lips and he shook his head again, now only to find someone that could tell a good story, he needed a good laugh for once. He looked up at the sky then, noting with surprise that a few minutes had passed, not the expected hour.

When the card would look up would he then see another bird flying high carying a package of some sort in his hands. He was quite the looking bird, so many have told him, with his feathers all maroon tipped in purple with black dots here and there. Not only is that to mention but the other set of wings which were a brilliant white edged with peacockfeathers. He was a heron, a bird of prey. Well at least to snakes and small reptiles, and the fish... oh how the fish feared his quick claw, hand, and beak.
He sailed slowly in the currents and finally looked down to spot something, something that always drew his attention like a running mouseto the cat. It was a near by bar that he frequented quite often, well when at least when he was in this town. He slowly drew both wings up to take a genital glide downward checking for anyone that would be in harmsway from claw and wing.
Once he neared the ground did he open both sets of wings to slow his decent and land softly on the hard packed dirt. It made small tornados of dirt that went this way and that. He smiled as he saw them remembering the small spell that he was able to call once every week. Something that effected all cards lower than seven. He just watched where they fell and smiled when they hit something. He watched one trail all the way up to another bird and harmlessly hit it in the talon. It wasn't the spell that was in effect but it did throw dirt on them.
The Forest Herons smile faded as he bobbed his head slightly,"I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to throw dirt on you... if it would appease you I will offer drinks." he said as he approached the card. His rank showing brightly in the sun against his maroon chest. He was a Queen of Clubs in the courts. He extended his hand to the card as if in apology. "I am truly sorry sir for this upset... please forgive me?" he said as his smile started to come back to his face and beak.
He was always like this, being polite no matter what rank they were, or even their suit. Though their were exemptions to this rule of his...lowlanders and aces. They were beneath him in many ways... a blight on the very earth that many decent cards walk upon. To him, he wouldn't mind if they all disappeared. Though before him was a seven of hearts. Someone that was above all those other retarded cards.

The hawk actually blinked, quite startled as something what seemed like a small tornado hit his talon. He looked down and stated that dirt now stained him, a frown pulled his mouth corners down and he sighed. A voice snapped him out of it and his head righted itself to look at the other, not quite ashamed to say, he found his eyes widening. Just his luck! A queen!! He cleared his throat, his new-found courage disappearing into the ground faster than it came "I..it's alright, sir." He spoke back, a bit nervous now "I should have looked better for your.." He looked at the wings and stated that the other was a bird, well that was a captain obvious moment, bird "Landing." He shifted his weight there for a moment, swallowing the bile that threatened to rise.
He extended his wing and placed it slightly over the other's hand, it was difficult to shake hands if you hadn't any hands, so this had to do "I.. I would shake your hand, but seeing.... well." He trailed off and cleared his throat again. He would have knocked the other over the head, but yeah.. the queen thing actually had him backing down, angering one wasn't never wise. Okay, it wasn't maybe the more respected ones like the Hearts or Diamonds, but still. He cleared his throat again and pulled his wing back, moving both back along his sides, making him appear even smaller than he was before Small but fierce. It echoed in his mind and he had to agree with that thought, none could ever deny that he wouldn't cause damage in a snap. He preferred talking over something better though, true due his Realm.
"Something to drink sounds nice." He finally spoke after a lengthy pause "Do you have something in mind, sir?" It was almost surprising how quickly he could switch in moods, one time he was moody and ready to kill someone and the next he would talk socially, a bad case of mood-swings maybe? He shrugged mental shoulders and looked at the Heron, trying his best not to look at the rank on the other's chest, a fine chest indeed. There was it! His thoughts trailed of to quickly as well. He could keep his mind straight most of the time, but the nerves just get in the way, so with that he brushed of his feathers to relax himself somewhat. He didn't mind the dirt, but others would.
He cleared his throat again "Not to be rude sir, but may I inquire you for your name?" Oh what a surprise that he could be so polite! He never expected it of himself. Well the name wasn't that important, most likely they never would meet again anyway. He would have regretted it, but then shrugged it of again. He had to keep his mind straight anyway. The thin tongue would have darted out to wet the beak he sported. His claws tightened their grip on the ground, better be prepared for anything was the reason he would give if anyone cared to ask that question. He shifted his weight quickly enough and he then forced himself to smile "And also what you're doing here?" He knew that it could be considered rude and cleared his throat again.
"Sorry, I'm to curious." A nervous chuckle escaped him as his voice had raised, almost to the squeaking that he tried his best to avoid "I need to learn when to keep my beak shut.." He offered another smile and kept silent, giving the other the chance to answer the questions, if he so desired.

The heron just smiled at the hawk that stood before him. It wasn't of pity or even of something else. It was of just pure happiness. The card before him seemed all out of steam at one moment and at the next he was all full of courage and contempt to state his business and the sorts. He listened to the hawk and nodded when appropriate and gave the occasional sigh.
He paused to think about what the one before him asked and how to answer correctly. "Well, I'm Sabe and the box that I carry has just a few odd and end things inside it. Nothing much of use to anyone really." he said with a smile on his face. What was in the secured box was many bottles that he had planned on filling up at the current bar to take else where. Though it wouldn't hurt to take a few drinks as well while he was here.
He didn't really feel like answering the last part, about why he was here... that was for him to know and really for no one to find out. He was on his way to a friends house who could help him secure his spot within the courts. Though... maybe it wouldn't be too wise to get too drunk for the festivities of the night ahead.
He took a deep breath making his chest swell up from its many lungedness. His maroon feathers almost standing on end. Even his wings gave a bit of a flutter. "You know, I was just planning on getting something to drink for the long trip ahead. Though as long as your not a mean drunk then I don't mind you drinking with me."he said as he started to walk towards the entrance to the unnamed bar. "You coming?" He asked as he craned his neck to peer at the small hawk behind him. He really didn't mind the extra company before the trip.

He nodded his head, at every answer he replied, not offended that he didn't get an answer at one of his questions, it was the rudest anyway. Of course he wouldn't answer it! He gave another smile and followed "Sure." He spoke, then gently chuckled "Don't worry, I'm not a violent drunk." He continued, trying his best now to keep up, darn the short paws! "I almost never drink to begin with." He would have shrugged his shoulders, but in his current form it would be kind of hard, seeing that he still had to keep his balance with his wings and also seeing that they where connected with said shoulders!
He heard the box rattle and he nodded to himself yup, glass. He confirmed as he hopped along. His fierce eyes threw glares around, no one had to look at him! If they dared they just could expect a glare, most looked quickly away then. Yay! He looked up at the other and cleared his throat "So only a drink, right?" He tried to confirm it once more, paranoia wanting to turn it into something more terrible. He tried to beat it back still, but again it was quite hard, once peeking up.
You never lose it. He continued the thought sullenly. He forced his beak into that odd smile again "Aye, do you know any good stories?" He then asked, once more true to his realm "Hearing one sounds very nice to me right now." The purple bird spoke, looking almost desperate for one. He loved those, especially if they where about fights, recent or from those in the past, didn't matter. He looked around once more, maybe trying to spot the bar that the other, -what was his name again?- Sabe aimed for, without any success.
He frowned for a moment more and then shrugged the thought off once more, he seemed to do that a lot this days. He was getting freer in mind, the thought send a jolt through his spine and he started to hum a little song underneath his breath, eyes half-closing.

Sabe just smiled at the hawk and pushed open a door nearby. It belonged to the nameless bar of little note, but of strong liquor and ale. He didn't mind how the other acted as if he was the biggest bird on the street, but that wasn't the problem. He just seemed like the little guy in a big world, having to show them that he too was big in attitude and fierceness. Witch made since for his markings were true to that as well.
He entered the room and all was quite for a moment as the patrents turned to look at the new comers. Not to mention the large box that he was holding as well. But that didn't mind him, not one bit. He just smiled and walked over to the bar. He told the man what he wanted in each bottle and how much of what and then turned to let him at it as he led the hawk to a table with a perch.
"Well, I was hoping for a drink or two, but don't you worry about having to spend a coin in here while you drink with me." He said as he waved over the waitress that was serving a near by table. He smiled at her too, he was such a happy guy. The waitress was a tall lioness in her biped form. Her golden hair clean to each strand. She was absolutely beautiful. Not to mention that she was a highlander at that. A five of hearts. He ordered something and waited for the other to order something as well when he turned to the hawk.
"You know... you have yet to tell me your name or why you're here... or what your doing." He said in about the same manner as he did before. Filled with curiosity at the last question did he ponder it for a moment. "I might just have a good string or two to lend ya." He said as he scratched his chin with his sharp nails on his fingers.
He sat there as if he owned the place, as if the world itself revolved around his actions and that if he held his breath that it was expected for others to do the same. For he was going to be apart of the courts one of these days anyways... maybe with in a week or so at the most.

He didn't notice the other's thoughts at all and so continued with the slight arrogant aura that stood him well. He walked with him to the table with the perch and thankfully flew to it, settling comfortable, adjusting the talons and sighed in bliss. It was better than the cold stones he usually felt when he had to walk on them "I'm not worried about the money." He spoke, a honest smile now finding its way on his 'face' "Only wondering if You are a violent drunk.." He looked pretty innocent, how he managed would be a mystery for days to come.
He paused as the other asked for his name, then his mouth opened slightly "Oh, of course!" He yelped, blinking even more than before "I do apology for forgetting it, it's Angavar, sir." He consider the next part and then shrugged his shoulders "Nothing much actually." He started "Just exploring I guess." A worried frown crossed his brow and he sighed, unheard by everyone but him. His head perked up then "Oh, you do, sir?" His face morphed now into something delighted, eyes glittering.
He smiled slightly as the waitress came. He liked her mane, a lot. He shook his head again and she looked at him strangely for the briefest of moments, he just smiled sweetly again and she continued on her way, having ordered something for his own, a fine alcoholic drink. He scratched his own beak absently with his talon and then straightened feather for feather slowly, trying to avoid looking at Sabe "Mind telling it?" His voice was so soft that he doubted that the other would have heard, but he wasn't about to repeat himself.
