Ophelia almost wanted to laugh when Souris flinched, however slightly it may be, to the raise of her brow.
Timid truly was becoming an incredibly suiting description of the Yarrow mouse.
The girl's question, however, made Ophelia paused slightly. Oi, she didn't really deal with other scientists very often... Perhaps she really ought to. "I can't immediately think of anyone that does work in tail adjustments. Though I have heard of a mouse than does experiments with ears, yes, but I can't tell you to what degree -- I'll write down his address for you before you head out."
As they began to move toward her lab, Ophelia spoke over her shoulder to Souris. "If you would prefer feline, then we will use feline. It is your genetics, after all. It's no skin off of my back, whichever you choose." Upon reaching the door to the lab, Ophelia pushed it open and held it before motioning for Souris to make her way downstairs.

Souris cocked her head, listening intently, as she fought the urge to dance madly. A mouse that experimented on ears. "My thanks." She fair purred happily, "I appreciate that." she said, as she followed Ophelia through the house.
She considered Ophelia searchingly, as she thought. She didn't particularly want to be Viverridae, and she said so. Determination etched in her expression, particularly her eyes, as she returned coolly,"If it's no skin off your back, then, Feline, and thank you." She said that to be polite, but she also appreciated what the deer was doing for her.
She stopped with Ophelia before a door, which the deer then opened. From the threshold, stairs descended. Souris took a deep breath, thinking. Spades ranked 5 and above could see black and white clearly in the dark at will, so the darkness should have been no hinderance to her. She relished the challenge, however, and, rather than will herself to see, she scampered forward over the threshold, blind, hind legs feeling carefully for the first step instead. She stepped down, fores reaching for the next step, and balancing carefully with her tail, gathered her hinds, preparing to bring her rear level to her front.

Ophelia nodded politely and offered the mouse a small smile.
"You're welcome, on both cases, and very well, feline it is." As Souris hopped forward into the dark threshold, Ophelia let a smile quirk onto her expression and followed her onto the landing before locating the switch on the wall which would turn on the electric lights that filled her basement and, of course, the glistening lab within.
This room was her pride and joy.
It was also where the mass of her income went. Everything was of the highest quality here, well tended and maintained with almost obsessive perfection.
At the bottom of the steps, Ophelia motioned to a door off to the side. "Go ahead on inside, the latch on the door should be easy enough to opperate with your paws. There's a table inside, it should be at a low enough setting that you can get up on it just fine, so take a seat and I'll gather what I need to begin."

Souris blinked, startled, blinded in the brilliant light, and very happy. Her eyes smarted in the light, but she distinctly remembered discovering her ability for the first time, and the fierce pain that she experienced, upon exposure to the light, and that would have been worse. She was glad that she hadn't used that ability.
Her eyes adjusted gradually, and she stumbled mid-step, nearly falling, as she saw the door, inset, softly gleaming. She was that surprised. The surrounds were obviously carefully kept, unlike the sitting room above. She tumbled down the last few steps, to gingerly unlatch the door. The low table was sparkling clean, she noted, as she scurried up, and sat down. Doubtless cleaner than the armchair she'd just been sitting in.
She had absolutely no qualms about putting her butt onto the smooth, austere surface, for she suspected that the table to be better kept than she was. In the lab, she could be the grimy one.

Ophelia smiled widely, taking in her laboratory with almost parental pride. This lab came second only to her loved ones, and she expended every available fund upon it. Not to mention the meticulous care that she lavished upon it as well.
When her gaze returned to the mouse, she watched the girl stumble into the room without a word and waited until she was seated on the table before turning to fetch her work supplies.
It was only a few moments before she returned pushing a dolly laden with gleaming medical supplies, odd jars, and -- in short -- your basic mad-scientist get up. Her smile warmed a little as she returned to the mouse.
"All right, Souris. Lay down and get comfortable, then I'll administer the anesthetics and you're going to sleep for a long time. You shouldn't feel a thing while you're under, but there will be discomfort afterwards... Your body will be going through a lot of changes, as I'm sure you're aware, from such an extensive rewiring."
As Ophelia spoke, she moved about setting up equipment and items that she would need to begin her work. There was nothing like working to get one's mind off of stressful things.

Indeed, the deer's house was deceptive, for as much as the mouse hated to admit, she was she was grimy, in comparison to the lab. Souris had barely formed the thought in her mind before the reptilian deer vanished, leaving her alone with nothing but anticipation and apprehension for company. The tension stretch out several long minutes, before the serpentine deer returned, pushing before her a wheeled platform, covered in medical supplies, which triggering a silent warning in her head.
The mouse trembled slightly, nerves instinctively sparking the familiar fight or flight routine that pounded throughout her body, trying to wash away the resolute certainty. But she knew what she wanted, and did not flee. She stood her ground, mentally bracing herself, as Ophelia gave her a lightly warmed smile.
Her bravery dissolved in the face of her next words. She wanted to plead, and beg and scream, anything to reduce the extent of the rewiring, but the Yarrow pride was deeply ingrained, stifling and reducing her breakdown to, a barely audible,"Perhaps Viverridae, then, if those are closer to my breed."
She quietly laid herself down upon the cool table, cautiously spreading out her limbs on the table, curiously comfortable, although uneasy at being vulnerable while she slept, but comforted by the expertise with which Ophelia set up the equipment, and the knowledge that she would know, more or less, what to expect, either way.

Ophelia stopped for a moment, eyes darkening before quickly warming once more. The doe was far more of a decided sort, she liked to know exactly what she wanted before she attempted to do anything... Nevertheless, she couldn't fault the girl for being nervous either. She was young yet. "Alright, Viverridae it is."And then the lights would go out for the mouse as Ophelia administered the anesthetics. Once she was certain the girl was under and there were no signs of irregular sleeping patterns, Ophelia returned to her cabinet of samples and selected the new breed. * * * The mouse would be out for some time while Ophelia worked, giving the doe time to get the various genetic mixtures that she needed. Such...odd requests this mouse wanted to. Most people came looking for cosmetic changes, but self enhancement seemed an interesting way to go as well. Ophelia, being the perfectionist that she was, took a great deal of time to assure herself that all of her little tinkerings were just as she wanted them, and once she had she finally administer Souris's the anti-agent to her sleeping drug. There was always an unexpected result here or there, genetics were not a perfect science, but everything that Souris asked for would very much be present if not immediately when she woke up, than within a few days. The mouse would most like wake in a daze and, alas, the first thing she would feel would be the subtle and continuous shifting of her body thanks the influence of the genetic alterations. A decidedly uncomfortable sensation, but if Souris was honest about her desire then it would be no great price to pay. "I'm sure you're already in a considerable amount of discomfort, but it shouldn't last too long. I would ask that you stay the night, or stay within the vicinity, so that I can see how the affects settle overnight. In fact, I would suggest you sleep a great deal over the next day or so... Don't overexert yourself before the affects are settled."

Souris, spread-eagled upon the cool comfort, caught the sudden, unnerving flicker in eyes above, and her mind tensed, ready to flinch at the cruel cutting words, but the doe did not seem to hold her indecisiveness against her, merely agreeing quitely, as the darkness closed unrelentingly about her.
She would awake stupefied, with indistinct thoughts, to a burning sensation throughout. Discomfort. Her muzzle twitched, amused, bringing an repeated, uneasy feeling to the edges of the faint smile. She supposed the continuous, peculiar stimulation could have been considered discomfort, but she found, disturbingly, to closer approximate extreme pleasure. Prehaps, something that should have been mentioned to Ophelia beforehand?
She tried not to tense, especially after Ophelia warned her against overexertion. Even more, she fought not to writhe, to arch, and shift. Instead, she contemplated the floor, indistinctly wondering if she could get down off the table, much less out of the vacinity. Her body definitely rebelled. She had to wonder at the doe's seemingly unnecessary caution, even as her eyes closed, and she fell back asleep.

For the following 48 hours, Ophelia carefully watched over the mouse's condition, assuring herself that everything seemed to be going well and that Souris was reacting decently to her adjustments. Well, at least on the physical levels. She seemed a little troubled emotionally, but she got what she paid for (and more), so Ophelia didn't really worry herself over Souris's bit of upset. Besides, she hadn't seemed all that content with life when she'd walked in and Ophelia didn't really expect it to change before she walked out. By the end of the 'watch period' Ophelia was certain that there were no complications (at least none that might cause Souris undue pain) and suggested some pain medications that Souris may want to pick up before leaving town as she escorted the Yarrow girl out. "If you ever intend to do another splice, or have someone looking for such work, you know where to go."(You can post once more to close this up -- and get us the long rp points -- and then I'll close it up.
