Hadrian stared for a moment at the crab in front of him and poked it with his blue-tipped paw. He'd never seen anything like the cooked creature before him. Its entire furless, scaleless, featherless structure was completely foreign to him. The closest thing he could associate was a spider. It was just too strange... and people eat it?
"Show me how to crack them open, Momma Berry! Do we need a key?!" he asked exclaimed, eyes wide. His head snapped back around to Zuberi as she explained then snapped back to look at the creature. "Look, Rhi!" he piped, "It doesn't have a tail! That must be why they fall down when they walk forward!" Hady was so proud of his smart!
His tail wagged furiously as the animal's shell was being cracked open. Crab and lobster had been served many times before at the courts, but these larger, tree-climbing crabs were thoroughly bizarre-looking especially compared to the cute picture-perfect rosy red crabs the siblings were familiar to.

Rhiannon opened a sleepy eye, staring at her brother, then yawned up at Zuberi. "I think you're both right." she said after considering it for a moment. "They could walk okay with the big biteys, but without a tail to balance them they jus' tip forward all the time. So they have to walk sideways to make up for it!" her tail began to wag against the squirrel and she settled in against the woman again, leaning her head back as far as she could to get a better view of Zuberi's face.
"Tomorrow, will you take us to see some live sideways-walkers?" she said, tone hopeful. She wanted to see this strange behavior for herself, if it would be possible for her to do so.
Rhiannon turned back to her brother, who was clearly fascinated by the goings-on at the food table. She groaned slightly, her belly already full to near-bursting - how could Hadrian still be craving food?! He was a growing boy, she understood... But he'd already put away at least twice as much as she had!

Zuberi expertly worked the segmented body of the crab, popping off limbs and twisting them apart to get to the meet. For the harder parts of the shell though, she resorted to a most unusual looking tool akin to a nut cracker on steroids to break it open. She smiled, chuckling at Hadrian's deduction and Rhi's agreement. "Ah-no... me logic has been surpassed, it seems! Yes, o'course we can go see dem. We might even catch a few and cook dem up. You both might be tired of the taste by now."
Finished, she put the shells into the trash and licked her fingers. Cracking and eating crustacean was always a messy job. With the body shell cracked, she placed the broken body and the severed head of the strange treeclimbing crab. "Don't forget de head. Take it and just suck the meat right out. Some people tink it's de best part.
"Dat coz it -is- de best part!" Chimed one of the older men who was doing the cooking.

Sufficiently full and exercised, the boy's head and eyelids began to become heavy and droop. His eye snapped back open in a sudden counter against the leaning forward the exhaustion caused. He shook his head, mohawk flapping, in an attempt to stay awake, but to little avail. He yawned widely and with half lidded eyes and his tongue poking out of his mouth just slightly, looked up a Zuberi and let his tail wag lazily.
"I wanna see the live sideways walkers...!" he said. He was obviously excited, but was too tired to display the exuberance he had only and hour or two ago. "When do we go see them, 'Beri?" he asked, reaching over and giving her a small poke in the leg with one of his blue-tipped paws. He plopped his head onto the table and sighed, attempting to fight the further closing of eyelids.

Rhiannon cuddled up against Zuberi's side, letting out a quiet and happy sigh. When her brother flopped down as well, she let out a quiet squeak and sent a slight glare in his general direction, then shook her head and snuggled against him as well. His bulk was familiar and comforting, and sandwiched between him and the green squirrel her tail began to wag happily. A wide yawn shook her, her long canine tongue curling inside of her mouth, body trembling.
It was a ridiculous sight, she was sure, but she couldn't help herself. She was tired! Running back and forth with her brother, making the trip to Midori once more, and then filling her belly to bursting... It was a surprise that the girl was still awake.
She twitched against Zuberi's side, raising sleepy eyes to her brother and bopping him on the head with a paw. It wasn't a very violent motion, more a sleepy-playful one. "Tomorrow." she answered seriously, yawning again and laying her head down on her paws. "We'll see them tomorrow. But now is for sleeping." those last words were hardly ennunciated, as the girl began to drift off, dreaming of adventures under the hot Midori sun.

It became increasingly evident that it was time to leave as the full bellied pups all but collapsed under the weight of their own guts, eliciting a grin from the tired Midori. She gave a nod, agreeing with Rhi's insistence that no other adventures take place until tomorrow's sun graced the skies. Insisting her mother keep bloody -quiet-, she accepted a basket of biscuits only to keep the woman from screeching and because the children might want some for breakfast. shouldering the basket, and scooping the winged child into her arms, she nudged Hadrian gently with a toe to make sure the sleepy pup followed. In all honestly she might have been able to carry the both of them, assuming that she activated her club ability, but it would be cumbersome at best to carry two children and a basket of biscuits that her mother had insisted she take along with her.
She opened the rickety door to her abode, wondering just how much longer the house would stay together as she put Rhi on the mat she'd slept on the night before, pulling out another for the newcomer child. Zuberi was tired as well, though more emotionally tired than physically so. Putting hot coals from the fire into the oven so they'd be able to have a hot meal in the morning, she finally retired to her hammock to sleep.

For reaching 101 posts, you all get the special October prize!
Mildewed Cravat: This once rather regal looking cravat is now a bit holey and has odd stains covering it. It gives an odd crackle to the air around it and most can tell that it contains at least a small bit of magic...I wonder what it does?
