"Non-Corvie guests?" Rocky asked with a tilt of his head. What did she mean exactly by that. Ranting, Caffeine and sleep deprivation were three entirely different things. Which one involved guests, Rocky couldn't figure out. "The very few people I know who aren't Corvies usually drink tea or water. That and they chalk up any rants to being an utter basket case."
He shrugged. If he was thinking along the same lines of what she was saying he didn't know. The raccoon was actually at a loss for words. He had never held a conversation this long in his entire life. So when it skipped a beat while his back was turned, he was a bit lost. Talking had never been much of an event for him, but this was different. He was actually having fun while talking to someone--and the subject wasn't about flight. Amazing.

"Well, Corvies tend to understand the sort of thought comas I can sometimes get into every once and a while. It's just expected that the wiring's a bit off or that kind of thinking is a bit easier to follow...or at least tolerate. Probably should try to specify a bit better. Hard to do at this hour, I guess..."
She shook her head in a sort of attempt to rattle her brain back into some sort of function. Focus was a problem even at her most wakeful hours, unless it was something direly important.
"I tend to drink a fair amount of water too, when I don't need a kick-start late at night. Though that's because water's a might bit cheaper than anything else. As for rants...as long as they're reflective or informative, they can bring a lot of insight. Or just be entertaining. Even better are those debates between opposing theories. Always some sparks there."

"A mental lapse is one regardless of understanding or not. Most people realize that when you're gone for a bit, you're gone for a bit and you'll come back. Unless you're gone all the time. But that's all just beating around the bush and sounding crazy," Rocky said with a sake of his hands.
He suddenly blinked as he realized that he had no idea how they had gotten on the topic they were. Things lead to things, but what lead to talking about rants and water? He usually didn't keep track of tangents because they were tricky things, and things were often forgotten. "Where did we start with this and where were we going with this?" Rocky asked. He wasn't sure what the point of asking was, but he did it anyway. This night had started with what, him asking for a few supplies? Now he had a friend and quite a bit of information.

"Well, I tend to go a little longer than most, I guess. Or either I've been around some pretty impatient people. I dunno."
Xia blinked in surprise as Rocky asked his question. Where...where did they start? She paused, trying to collect her thoughts and piece them together, but they were so jumbled by this point, it was like trying to complete a double-sided jigsaw puzzle with five thousand pieces. Not happening anytime soon.
"That's a very good question...I really wish I knew. I think it would depend on how far back you wanted to go. There was sleep deprivation...and then...what was before that? I know we talked about the possibility of a soul at one point...I think..."
Xia scratched at her head with a paw. They really had gone around and about with their conversation topics, hadn't they? And if she remembered correctly, a far number of those topics were pretty personal...No matter. She felt that she could trust Rocky and she would make sure to earn his trust too.

Rocky couldn't help but laugh at the entire situation. It was rather funny. Was funny even the word? He shook his head. "I guess it really doesn't matter in the long run or even the short run of things."
Now what did that leave them with? A tried raccoon and a tried dog with not much to go one. Not too long ago they had been two complete and utter strangers. Now they were friends, and would see each other again over ice cream. It was strange. Very strange. Rocky couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he was quite happy about it.
"Uh... now what?" Rocky asked with a raised brow, and his ears pinned back in thought. "Should I leave you too your business because you're so tired or should I stay?"
He was thinking out loud, of course, but it was easier than thinking inside his head at the moment. He was a bit fuzzy even after having a good deal of tongue burning caffeine.

"I guess not."
Maybe she should have made more coffee. It felt like the cup she had was already wearing off. Not good, not good at all. Especially if she still had a lab to clean up. Ugh, that Vortex...She really needed to get him some bander training. It was the second time in a month that he did extensive damage to the lab. Maybe that whole flesh rot incident was actually a good thing. He couldn't possibly get around as fast with a skele limb. Though she still felt a bit bad about it.
"You can stay, if you want. But I really think I should at least put a dent in the clean-up work down in the lab. Unfortunately, I still need to devise a way for it to clean itself. Though I might need a Corvie well-versed in mechanics for that one. Or maybe some serious microbiology. I dunno."

Well. Choices. Stay and wait for another conversation to start up, or leave to clean up his own lab and mess. He had been avoiding the mess for quite some time. He would continue to avoid it for as long as she could manage.
"Well... I can make some more coffee while you clean up your lab. If you have anything else I could probably fix something up if you're hungry." He shrugged. Food sometimes made people less tired, sometimes more. It had been pointless for them to clean the dishes, but oh well. At least they were clean now.
What else could he do? The raccoon pondered with a twitch of his wings. There really wasn't much else left. If she refused he should probably just go on his way and clean his lab. Ugh. What a dreadful thought. Cleaning things like that just never made him all that happy.
