Dysthymia slunk out of his mother's suite, his paws making little sound on the carpetted floor as he slid the door open and shut it without so much of a click--he'd been practicing, and his mother hadn't caught him in over a year. The ferret had found that he preferred the evening and nighttimes over the day, simply because there were less annoying, obnoxious people around--namely, his siblings, who were far more accustomed to daylight than he. Saethre and Aphasia had taken to tying bows onto his wires when he wasn't looking, and after he'd tied Aphasia to a tree with the same bows and left him there without telling anyone, he'd started avoiding them completely. Morpheus was much better company anyhow, and actually knew how to hold an intelligent conversation.
Not that they really had many of those, but the option was always there.
Mia was at the awkward age of fifteen, where his body was starting to shoot up but hadn't filled in yet, and his hormones weren't quite yet plaguing him with unwanted thoughts. He and Mo used this to his advantage; Mo was several years younger than he, so played the cute, innocent one, and Mia played the older, more responsible one. It was surprising how much they got away with using that act, really. Tonight they were planning on raiding the kitchen and spelling out people's names on the roof in various vegetables.. but Mia wasn't really into it. Vessatha had been lecturing him on his sarcasm all evening, and then went into questioning him about why he always woke up so late. All he wanted to do was go find some coffee and sit somewhere quiet, but he had to find Mo and tell him the prank was off, at least for the night.
The only problem was that he couldn't find Mo. The ferret had been past their meeting spot at least three times and hadn't seen him, so finally just decided to go see if he was back down in the residence wing. Perhaps Osias had caught him, or worse, someone else had. Mia reached the corridor that Mo lived in, but stopped immediately when he saw someone that was far too tall and human-looking to be Morpheus or even Osias--crap. The ferret had stopped too late, for whoever it was, they were facing him, and the movement was going to be spotted.
Great. Just what he needed, to be brought back to Vessatha's rooms by someone else.
