Dear Teremun,
Perhaps I should call you ‘Sid’ even here since that nickname has stuck to you so vivaciously. Sid, I’m very proud of you. You are a light and a joy to all that you meet. I pray that you will always cling to that.
There are many things I wish we could have done together that time and duty constraints would not allow, but no matter how our lives were, I was always glad when in your presence.
I hope that you will adopt the banders for me, Sid. You’ve shown a greater interest in them than the others and they need someone to care for them.
Be bright and be happy, Sid. Your father loved that in you and rejoiced in it.
With my love,
Shinrai
Dear Ayanami,
My baby girl. Wot a joy your birth was! Even now I smile when I think about it and you with your tinkling glass hooves and your beautiful smile. I’ve seen you growing with both pleasure and trepidation; your delicate nature brings constant concern, though it simply adds to your fragile beauty. And someday you shall blossom into a young woman and your mother will have to beat off your would-be suitors with a club!
You are a precious girl, Ayanami. I’m sorry I can’t be there to see you grow, but always remember that your father loved you and was incredibly proud of you. Be safe, my girl.
With my love,
Shinrai
Dear Sadiki,
You were so fragile at birth; it’s amazing watching your grow into a young man. You are a blessing to your parents and the fact that you were born in human form simply understates the fact that you are born to greatness.
As you grow, I know that you’ll turn your attention to those things that deserve it and I trust you to become the type of man that you would be proud to present to your father, absent though he will be.
I regret that I won’t be there to watch your accomplishments, but I am incredibly proud now to be your father. Stand tall and proud.
With my love,
Shinrai
Dear Tokasu,
Oh, Levi. This has grown no easier with retelling. I love you, my son. I’m proud of you. It pains me that I cannot be there to see you as you grow. When I pause to think of all the moments in your—and your siblings’—life that I will miss, my heart breaks.
You are so unique and, yes, caused us worry at your birth; I thought you had killed your mother for a moment, but, no. The blessing of your birth has only opened the doors for greater and greater happiness.
To you, I’m giving a rather difficult charge. In my absence, I know that your uncle Elias will be hurting terribly. If I was unaware of your predilection towards our friends the Clubs, I would never ask, but, since your interest does lie that direction, I ask that you’ll make an effort to stay in contact with El. I fear that he will need someone to help him through this difficult time. I’m confident, however, that with your and Silas’ aid he will come through.
Levi, you are destined for great things. For the person that you are now, I am exceedingly proud. I could not love you more. Please remember that.
With my love,
Shinrai
