... So here are mine. I apparently still had them in a folder named drabble. They're nothing all that impressive.
#15: the setting sun
Something romantic. Kazifel's ear twitched in discomfort. What would be romantic at a time like this? It's not like they could watch the sunset when it was freezing outside. A coat could only do so much if it wasn't lined with feathers or stuffing, and Femi refused everything else besides the one coat he had made for her.
He sighed. Romantic. Day before her birthday. Romance was failing him rather nicely. The wolf shook his head in dismay as he wandered back into the bedroom. There she was sitting on the bed playing with one of her dolls. He had yet to memorize their names (and he probably never would remember all of them) but he sat down besides her anyway.
And he used the puppy eyes.
She looked up at him curiously.
Before she could say anything he hugged her and licked her on the ear. She gave him a curious look. "So, Femi, um... I was thinking," Kazifel looked out the window as he spoke. The sun was already setting. "Do you mind if we just snuggle tonight rather than--"
He didn't have time to finish as he found her arms wrapped around him, as well as her fluffy tail. He licked her on the cheek. Seemed like a perfectly good idea to her, it worked for him.
6) are you thinking what I'm thinking?
The answer to her question had been "No, I have no idea." And she gave him that awful and confused look. That's how it worked half of the time didn't it. Kazifel sighed as he flipped through the pages of the Tugely grammar book. At least he was getting a hang of the language.
The wolf growled. Honestly he was tired of this. He shut the book and walked to the bedroom. Femi, however, wasn't there. He raised an eyebrow curiously as he walked back to the storage room he had been reading it. The only other place she could been in was the kitchen or her doll room.
He had checked the kitchen, but no one was there. So... that left the doll room. The wolf peered into the room curiously. She was there humming to herself as she played with one of her dolls. "So Femi, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
She looked back at him startled. She shook her head.
"You mean you don't want pancakes for dinner?"
5) up a lazy river with me
The book was carefully propped on his face as Femi snuggled besides him. The wolf really had no urge to actually move. He had been studying so hard that his eyes wanted to bleed. The wolf tossed the book off his face and shifted to the side. "I think I finally know some Tulgey now." He sad with a firm nod.
Femi waited for him to speak.
After he spoke she gave him a confused look. "Yes. I want to go up a lazy river with you." Even if that didn't make much sense, he figured it was worth a shot. It was definitely more interesting than saying "Let's take a bath."
She giggled and licked him on the nose.
"That is what I said right?"
She nodded before snuggling closer to him.
"Oh good, you had me worried for a moment there."
11) maximum heart rate
Why had he even bothered to come up with such an idea? His heart was pounding at a while new speed and he couldn't even control it. He sat outside of the bedroom with his back to it. The wolf was in his human form, so at least he wasn't panting.
To some degree anyway. "Are you almost finished Femi?"
"Jus t a bit longer!" She practically sang.
She was enjoying his discomfort wasn't she? He bit down on his lip as he refrained from turning around. It was just so very tempting. He stared straight ahead until he found a set of hands covering his eyes. He wiggled as Femi hugged him from behind. He whimpered, "I want to seeee!"
His heart almost stopped as he wiggled out of her grasp. She looked... amazing, but not even his heart rate or words could do her beauty justice.
26) count the stars
"Twenty-One," Kazi said as he moved the pattern across the fabric. "Twenty-Two." He moved the pattern again.
"What are you counting, love?" Femi asked from by the fire.
"Something Special," Kazifel said. Twenty-Three. "Hopefully it'll look all right when I'm done." He continued to count out loud.
The squirrel was too curious not to get up and look. She peered over his shoulder, he moved to block her vision. This went on for a while, he was still counting out loud. Femi made a frustrated sound as she hugged him from behind.
"I'm done. Fourty-One Stars. One for each year that I've actually lived. Most of the years I've been away from you. That's why the last star is the special one. It's Black and White, just like you and me." His tail wagged happily as she kissed him on the cheek.
Happy Birthday. It'll be a good one.
28) close to perfect; almost paradise; halfway to eden
"Damnit!" Kazifel cursed as he stabbed himself with one of his tools. Maybe taking up doll making after so many years was a bad idea. He waved his good hand at Femi when she walked in to ask if he was all right. He didn't want to worry Femi.
She stayed behind him, he knew she was giving him that look.
"Sorry," he muttered. "I..." He didn't say another word when she took the extra stool and sat besides him. She was still giving him that disapointed "what's wrong?" look that he knew so very well. He didn't want to fail her. That was his greatest fear.
"I wanted it to be close to perfect, but I guess it won't work that way. A doll can't very well be like us can it?" He gave her a sad before throwing his arms around her. He held back the tears. There was no point in crying.
Annnnnd the new ones:
14.) Whispers
Kazifel found himself staring blankly at the ceiling. How long had it been since things fell apart, and some days were blurry? The thought faded as he turned to the sleeping form of his wife.
Things were like this at the beginning weren't they? She didn't eat properly and she didn't know simple things to take care of herself. All she worried about was dolls. Sometimes painting. Sometimes other silly things. He sighed as he turned over to his side.
He moved closer to her, wrapped his arms around her. "I love you," he whispered into her ear. "Please stay with me forever." He squeezed her tightly, knowing full well that she was asleep and unable to hear him.
That was fine as long as he could stay like this. As long as he could tell her his hopes in whispers.
22.) Midnight Hour
Rosewood glanced at the watch one of his patients had insisted on giving him. It was one minute to midnight and he was late coming home.
They had kept him at the Club for an extra show. He was taking a day off tomorrow from both his jobs, so they figured it was a good excuse to take advantage of him. The swan just hoped that his German Shepard would be awake.
He clutched the package in his arms. Hopefully Rogers would like it.
Unlocking the door he slipped in to a dark apartment. He gave a rather depressed sigh as he set his bag down and wandered in the bedroom, still hopefully holding the package in his arms.
Rogers was clearly sound asleep. Oh well. The swan set the package down and sat on the edge of the bed. He had should probably take a shower... His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden thumping sound. He glanced over his shoulder , Rogers' tail was wagging visibly through the sheets.
The swan laughed as he slipped up besides his adorable puppy dog. The shower could wait.
27.) You smell good
"Damnit," Xiven grumbled as she tried to scrub off the perfume that Xander had given her. How in the name of the suits did he get a hold of such a strong scent? And why did he have to pick something that smelled like she had been smothered in a flower patch? Two drops shouldn't have made her smell so much.
She rinsed the soap off and took another sniff. Nope. It was still there. No matter how hard she scrubbed it wasn't going anywhere. With a frustrated sigh she grabbed a towel.
Still dripping she left the bathroom, not really particularly caring about the water she left behind. She flopped on her bed, curling up slightly. perhaps she should take a nap?
She felt Fluffy's weight dip the bed slightly. The Ace came up behind her and curled up there. Her purring was audible in the silence of the room. The Ace was practically on top of her, her scent was enough to cover the smell of her own.
Xiven took a deep breath. The Queen barely heard the Ace's words, but she clearly said between the purring "smell" and "good."
She gave the cat a kiss on the head, along with a hug. Really, the little cat made things better even if she was oblivious to everything.
