Panting under the harsh sun, Nikoli grimace. Why had he come to the city again? Oh yes, he thought the other Solandrians were utter barbarians. However, this heat was almost enough to make him think twice about his decision to leave the glacier. After all, it was very cold there, and was what he was suited for. But just just couldn't stomach the residents. Making a face, he plopped down in the scant shade a weedy bush provided. He supposed that he would eventually become used to the how hot he became with all this long fur, but it would be nice to be able to find a place to stay. But for that, he supposed he'd need to have a job so he could pay for lodging. Well, either way, he'd make it some how. He was never one to give up too easily.

Heilyn was hiding. She'd spent a lot of time in the city and her bad attitude had made her more enemies than friends. One in particular, a snotty bitch she'd met in Miss Amethyst's Tea Shop who'd insulted Heilyn and all Reamblers on a very personal level (paraphrase: 'such hideous creatures could never create anything of such beauty, blahblah')... she'd seen her multiple times that day. Always in the places Heilyn was. In reality, it was pure coincidence, but Heilyn's mind blew it completely out of proportion. That bitch was after her today. She was out in force, stalking Heilyn. She knew it. Normally, she would've just killed her and be done with it, but there are far more people here in the Capital than Heilyn had ever seen before. It was much harder to make someone "disappear". So she hid, ducking in and out of shadows, bushes, etc., hoping to shake her. FWUMP HOGOD, WHUT WAS THAT. IT CAME FROM THAT BUSH, SHE'S WAITING FOR AN AMBUSH OPPORTUNITY OHO! Like lightening, Heilyn took a breath, held it, and popped open the latch in her mask that exposed her mouth, allowing her to eat and drink without completely removing the mask. She spun on the spot and attacked the noise that was a few steps behind her behind her. Poor Nikoli. She paused, realizing this was someone completely different, she let him go and quickly closed the latch. "Terribly sorry," said a cool female voice behind the mask, a complete contrast from the attack, "I thought you were someone else."((OOC: Edits: okay, so apparently I can't type. xD I've fixed about a million typos)

Just as Nikoli was about to rise and set off yet again, be found himself bowled over with a sharp set of teeth pressed into his ruff. He wasn't hurt, his fur was too thick for that, but it certainly did pinch! Flattening his ears as he was let go, he backed up slightly as he eyed his attacker warily. Well, she was certainly an odd thing, wasn't she? Not that he should be talking, he supposed, but no matter. He idly wondered what region she was from, but decided against asking. He didn't want to pry and he still had no idea why she attacked him as she did, even if she did apologize.
Looking affronted, Nikoli settled himself again and smoothed down his thick, blue ruff to some semblance of normalcy before looking back at the canine. "Dare I ask why you attacked me?" he wondered aloud, not sounding angry, only curious. He saw so reason to be cross when he wasn't hurt from the encounter. It also helped that he wasn't one to hold grudges at all.

Her right ear twitched.
"I-- mistook you for someone else," she repeated. No need to be angry. He's probably just a little shaken "I am truly sorry. You're not hurt, are you? My name is Heilyn. Is there--" behind her mask, an eye twitched. Heilyn was not a friendly person at all, but she owed it to this person to be kind. "--anything I can do to make it up to you?" She looked him over for injuries. He wasn't bleeding. She'd come across a --certain -- other Solandrian a while back and understood they had pretty thick skin. He was certainly surprised (who wouldn't be?), and he didn't seem traumatized or frightened of her. That was one thing she did like about the Solandrians, though, their thick skin literally and metaphorically.

He idly noticed her twitches, but thought nothing of them. Maybe she was naturally a nervous person? Well, he wouldn't look too deeply into it either way. "No, I'm not hurt. It'll take more than a nip to do me any damage." he said, trying to reassure her. "And it's alright. No need to worry about anything. My name is Nikoli, by the way." Flicking his tail slightly, he considered Heilyn again. "Forgive me if you think I'm being nosy, but what region are you from? I'm afraid I've been very isolated and I can't recognize your markings, or your mask." He hoped she didn't think he was prying. He was just naturally curious and eager to learn. Besides, this would delay his return out into the sun.
Speaking of the sun, he flicked his eyes towards it to judge the time of day. Simply on a guess, he figured the day to be nearing evening, which was a blessing for him. That meant it would soon cool off and become more bearable for the thick-furred feline.

(OOC: Gah! it logged me out, so when I sent it, my response was all gone. ; ; )
Her ears perked up at Nikoli's curiosity.
"The... region I'm from?" Heilyn didn't usually repeat things other people said, but she was taken a bit off-guard. Most people avoided her, very rarely was she asked.
"I'm from the Raemblen Bog. We-we've only made ourselves known to the rest of the world just this past year. I'm one of the few that is trying to... make a life here, kind of, to establish us out here. Uh, please excuse me... I, uh, don't take about myself much..." Very true statement. She was not feeling at all nervous or scared, just awkward.
Nikoli. She'd remember that name. Something about him. Gentle, kind... trustworthy. It made her feel alright talking.
"What about you?" she asked somewhat quietly, "I don't know much about the Solandrians, but I do know of their dislike of outsiders. So, what brings you... outside?"

The Raemblem Bog? He'd heard snatches of conversation about that region. Supposedly it was full of poisons that only the inhabitants of the bog could withstand, which also made it difficult for them to breath normal oxygen.
"Isn't Raemblem Bog where that beautiful glass work comes from?" he asked, remembering that he'd seen an example of the art earlier that day. It was being installed in one of the houses in the nicer end of the city. He had paused to admire the workmanship before moving on.
When Heilyn asked him about his home, he shrugged slightly. "I don't like how they treat outsiders. They'd rather watch them die in a blizzard than help. We are a cruel people. Even I am, sometimes, though I really don't mean to. I love to learn new things, and I felt that I was being stifled at home. So I left."
He said this all in a very nonchalant sort of tone, but it was obvious he was still bothered by how the other Solandrians were.

Her ears perked up immediately.
"Yes," she said with a bit of surprise, "we specialize in glasswork. It's good to hear we're gaining some renown for it." Yes. Very good indeed. That means her doing all that work didn't go to waste.
"Well, it all depends on what you mean by 'cruelty'. Sometimes being cruel is nothing more than a necessity. A requirement. You shouldn't feel bad if that's the case." Feh. Cruelty was purely subjective. Despite the Bog's respect for all suits and near disregard for a hierarchy established on suit, traits still carried over. Heilyn was still a heart. Cruelty was something of a specialty of hers. "It's good that you followed what you want. I find far too many people chain themselves to the expectations and comforts of others rather than their own. And while I appreciate the lack of competition, it does waste a lot of talent."

He smiled almost wistfully. "We don't have much art up at the glacier. I wish we did. It allows for a certain expression of one's self, and it also brings pleasure to those who look at it." Yes, that window he had seen had caused him to stop and admire it. It was so pretty, the way it had shone in the sunlight. He didn't think he'd forget that image for a while.
At her words, he shrugged. "Yes, I know that sometimes cruelty is called for, however, my kin seem to take it farther than it needs to be. I saw no sense in needless cruelty, and because I would never participate, I was ostracized. People would still talk to me, of course, but no one went out of their way to do it. I suppose it's a good thing I left. Despite the heat, I am very glad I came here. The city is certainly amazing."

Heilyn listened to the feline. She became aware of her comfort around him, and it made her nervous. She didn't realize it was from the fact that he was genuinely kind or gentle and she picked up on this aura. She wasn't the type to just like people right off the bat, she was very aware of this. It must be a trick, a spell? paranoid thoughts raced through her head, but her outward appearance remained perfectly neutral. Little creep. I better leave before he gets what he's after.
"This city certainly has a lot to offer." she responded neutrally, only a tiny twitch of her right ear betraying any change of thought. "But I have some things to do today. It's good to meet you and perhaps we'll see each other sometime... ever," she said giving her head a nod. After he said his goodbye (which she really didn't feel like waiting for, but heard that it was something called "polite").
