"Then I suppose they won't have a problem letting a freak like me in, huh?" he commented. He had run into several problems because of his coloration and his general "oddness."
Sometimes he wished he could see it. He could only guess what was so strange about him.
The mouse hybrid had to be terribly careful following Vesper. They were follow a path that he was far from used to, so there was a chance he would smack right into something. It had happened entirely too many times in his life for him to be too embarrassed about it.
But around Vesper he didn't really want to.
When they came to the cleaner part of the city he took a deep breath of fresh air. Well... as fresh as city air could get. The few times the mouse had been outside of the capital he had noticed that the air was much cleaner at the Courts his other family members resided at.

Vesper didn't like to make it seem as if she were holding Radz's hand. He was a smart guy, able to handle his own. She did, however, continuously make sure that the path was clear and that she was never too far ahead of him. If her voice wasn't playing the role of invisible tether than she assumed the foul Lowland stench would do the trick.
Suits, how he could enjoy her company at all with the undoubtedly heightened senses he possessed. Uck! She barely could stand her own stench.
"Ha! No, they shouldn't. If they let Lowlanders in then I'm sure they'll take just about anything. After all, for all your weirdness, you're clean, don't smell, and don't run a risk of leaving a part of yourself behind." She bumped against him lightly and chuckled.
They weren't walking for much longer before they arrived at a discreet little shop. For being in a decent part of town, they had a very open policy and seemed not to mind an unusual variety of customers. It was also the place that Vesper found she was least harassed so it was a personal favorite. "Here we are," she moved forward and pushed the door open, a bell chiming noisily as she did. "After you."

Heightened senses or not, the mouse was just like everyone else in the respect that he got used to smells that he was around. Lowlanders did have the awful smell of rot about them, but Vesper's personality made up for the smell.
He was careful to listen closely to her movements. He didn't want to run into a brick wall or anything. He had done that one too many times by thinking about things other than walking. His mind never really stopped thinking about the possibilities of solutions that he could come up with.
The mouse was a little surprised by the joke Vesper made. He chuckled, which was probably the most she was going to get out of him laughter wise. If he expressed too much emotions he would start bleeding, and he honestly liked to keep most of his bodily fluids to himself.
The arrived far faster than he imagined. "Why thank you!" he bowed his head as he walked through the door. His ears strained as he tried to figure out where he was supposed to stop and wait for the rat dog to join him.

As Radz stepped inside, Vesper supported the door with her tail and fell in pace beside him so it would almost feel to him as if she'd been there all along. Vesper had never pegged herself the patient sort, or even the caring sort, but here she was leading the blind as if she enjoyed it. In fact, though she would hate to admit it to anyone, she thought she did enjoy it.
"This way," she muttered and bumped lightly against his side to help direct him as she made her way into the little dinner. There were booths along the outer edge of the diner that kept them out of the way of the majority of foot traffic. "To your right 's a booth."
The diner was quiet today, which Vesper was thankful for, and smelled heavily of herbs and spices that Vesper had probably never heard of. She didn't bother trying to place them before hopping up into her seat and curling her long tail around her legs. "So, they've got pretty good food here. As I mentioned, hippie place or some crap, so it's mostly veggie stuff but they make a vegetable ...burger.... or something that's good. If you're in to that." Vesper shrugged to herself and her tail flicked. "They've got freaking wonderful beer that doesn't taste completely like piss and gets you smashed really quick, which is why I love to come back."

The mouse carefully found his way to the booth using his wings for guidance and the direction of Vesper. He hopped into the booth seat, carefully, making himself comfortable. He carefully explored his seat and the table with his wing tips for a few moments before settling down.
"I don't think drinking beer on an empty stomach is a good plan," he commented as he folded his wings. They didn't check to see what age the people they were severing were? What a classy establishment. Then again Vesper had said they let her stick around with no problems.
"Well... if they have something cheap that involves fish I'll have that, though I suppose I could try to have a... veggie burger." He wasn't too fond of vegetables. They all pretty much tasted the same to him according the the colors Eurwen claimed them to be. That was assuming she gave him accurate information. Sometimes he wondered.

"There is nothing better than beer on an empty stomach," Vesper chuckled. "That way the liquor hits you right away without any of those damn starches to sop it up." But, she did get his point. If he didn't drink much (or at all) then he would get drunk entirely too quick on an empty stomach. Vesper still wanted to see it someday but she wouldn't push it just now. Her rumbling stomach reminded her that there were other things to ingest aside from alcohol.
Such as...fish?
Vesper's nose twitched slightly at the suggestion. She hadn't had fish before, but it didn't seem like a terrible idea either. She was just used to the primarily rodent-based diet from her mother. The rat-dog scanned the menu and found that they did indeed serve fish along with a variety of other obnoxiously healthy-looking meals. "Y'know, they do have some fish stuff on the menu and everything here is pretty damn cheap so, eh.. you've got the choice of..." she scanned along the menu, "a fish sandwich or what I guess is their version of fish an' chips -- which is a grilled fillet and potato wedges."
Really, this place could have been really popular in the hippie health crowd if they just had a better location.. Or, really, if they just stopped serving filthy mongrels like herself. No one was going to regularly eat at a diner that server Lowlanders.

Getting wasted wasn't something Radz wanted to do, ever. He had been around after his sister had come home drunk once. He had heard more horrible things in that night than he had in his entire life time. The mouse hybrid hardly wanted to experience that himself. He highly doubted he could even build a tolerance to the stuff.
The mouse's tail curled as Vesper read the very few choices from the menu. He wasn't that picky because he expected at least a few more options. Then again she had said this was a tree hugger sort of establishment. They probably thought it was cruel to eat meat.
Admittedly he wouldn't have been happy if he had a hook shoved in his mouth, but the end result was too tasty to prevent him from eating. "Does it list what's on the sandwich? I'm a fan of fish and chips but I don't think I'm up for trying to eat the potato wedges. I tend to make a mess with things like that."

Vesper shrugged vaguely though, in hindsight, Radz wouldn't be able to see it. "...Everything, apparently. Lettuce, tomatoes, the whole salad. You can get it without, or.. I'm sure you could probably twist their arm into making you something you like. This place isn't that strict." She looked around at the semi-vacant restaurant. "Not terribly busy today either... or ever.." The ratdog snorted, eyed the menu. "And, just for the record, I think the wedges are just big awkward fries with a healthy name if I remember correctly."
In all honesty, Vesper wasn't a picky eater. She'd eat just about anything and it's quality really didn't mean much. She'd eaten out of the garbage before, but she kept that to herself. Lately it was far easier to just steal the money she needed to go to cheap little places like this. It was really the same with alcohol.
If it did it's job, she'd eat it. ...Probably even if it didn't.

When it came to eating food the mouse went by taste and smell. If it didn't smell good he probably wouldn't eat it. There were few exceptions to the rule, like vitamin supplements. His nose wrinkled at the fact that there was an entire salad on the fish. What ever happened to an unhealthy fried fish fish fillet with a tiny bit of lettuce to compliment the bun? His ears perked at the comment that they were open to customization.
"Then maybe I'll just ask for a fried fish fillet on bread rather than have an entire salad on my sandwich." His tail curled around him as he continued to listen to what the rat dog was saying. So the shady little establishment wasn't busy ever? That was a little discouraging. Hopefully the food didn't taste that bad.
"Oh yes, I know what potato wedges are, I just like smothering anything fry like in ketchup. It makes it taste better. And I tend to get it all over the place."

Vesper grinned, he could probably hear it in her voice. She was always rather direct with her emotions -- be it pleasure or anger. Though it was usually anger. "Y'know! That's not a bad idea, Radz." Her tail curled slightly as she considered that. Fried fish was great, fried fish on a convenient bun without all the greenery was better. Yeah, some rat she was.
The mental image of Radz covered in ketchup nearly made Vesper trip up with giggles, but she swallowed it quickly and leaned on the table slightly.
"Yeah, I know how that is. I tend to smother everything I can in cheese... Speaking of... Think I'll do that." Okay, maybe she wasn't such a terrible rat after all. "You like smothered fries? Or you just a ketchup kind of guy?" And now she was picturing Radz covered in cheese. Which was utterly adorable but probably not where one's mind should be wandering during dinner.
Or.. no. She'd be good.
